The Falkland Islands celebrated on Saturday 10 October cultural diversity day with a series of events starting in the morning and going on until the early hours of the next day. No, no that can't be right, they are all as 'British as Londoner's' aren't they? Or so we are led to believe by some on here. Yet 56 different nationalities voted in a referendum to remain a BOT, fancy that, they voted to retain their 'Colonial Master' and chose to remain part of that 'evil English empire'.

But that is democracy and self determination for you, the people have spoken. It's 2015 not 1965 or 1833 and that is the way the world works these days.

The argies would be incapable of organising an event such as this because they have proven, time and time again, they cannot hold a piss-up in a brewery.

    :o)

Think its only a matter of time before Chile has some sort of Consular representation in the Falklands. Given the percentage of Chileans living there as well as the upcoming oil industry boom I think the Chilean government will grow weary of appeasing their loser neighbor and realize its time to establish stronger business and cultural ties with a grown up neighbor off their coast instead......

I truly wish you are right, but it won't happen in the next decade.

If it were up to most Chileans living in the South, especially in Punta Arenas, it would be true, but politics makes strange bedfellows. Even President Piñera supported the recognition of using “Las Malvinas” as the official name for the islands. Trade and airlines obviously reman untouched, but it's a thin line our government walks due to the strong dependency Chile has to keep our crybaby neighbors from throwing a ridiculous tantrum.

Falklanders are welcomed in Chile and we enjoy our relationship with them, but officially Argentina is the rightful owner. (It's political bullshite...)

Chile and Argentina are together in the struggle. Does not matter what you say. The government of chile supports Argentina. the claim is not settled.
