Disclaimer & comment rulesBut hold on a minute, I thought the UK had responded saying that Argentina needed to speak to the FI, but Argentina refuses.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 07:19 am - Link - Report abuse 0Now if a government's response to a request from a foreign power is to tell them to speak to a particular person, body, association , county, BOT etc, etc then they are telling you what you need to do (with the government's permission and knowledge). If you are so up your own arses that you refuse to accept the advice you have been given from the government as to whom you need to contact in order to progress the issue, they you only have yourself to blame.
You cannot demand that the government deal with the issue because you refuse/deny that the people you have been asked to contact for permission do not exist.
If this is the Red Cross making the request on behalf of Argentina, not Argentina making the request itself, does the 'Foreign Affairs' argument that certain people 'voice' on here actually hold water. I wouldn't have thought so. But even still, if you are directed by the foreign office to talk with the Islanders Government, then the FO have done their job.
Will these be the same '20 year old' veterans that bravely attacked the Top Gear crew?
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 07:57 am - Link - Report abuse 0I also believe that the International Red Cross hasn't actually been approached by the Argentine government EVER regarding this. Visit their website and there is NOTHING anywhere about any request, yet they have duly noted every other interaction they've had with Argentina over the Falkland Islands.
More propaganda for the brain dead masses.
And even IF the Argentine veterans of the Falklands War actually want the remains of these soldiers identified, you have to wonder WHY they didn't assist in identifying them at the time. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Besides it isn't up to the 'veterans' to demand anything. It is up to the families of the fallen to request, and they have stated that they don't want the remains identified.
So once again more hot air from BA, and nothing will happen, as usual because the Argentine government wants this to be 'another' grievance against the nasty Brit pirates, so won't actually move to see anything done.
But should the bodies of these young men get disinterred then they should be returned to Argentina, and then lets see just how well they'll be looked after by their own government. After all, their government didn't give a crap about them in 1982, and they certainly don't give a crap about them now.
How convienient, just before the election, what excellent timing. God you wonder if these people have brains. Must be propaganda for the masses
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 09:04 am - Link - Report abuse 0The Int Red Cross has NOT asked the British Govt about this - The Br Govt has NO received any such request. London has made this very clear.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 09:09 am - Link - Report abuse 0Even if they had - they would have replied to the Int Red Cross advising them that it is actually outside London,s jurisdiction and any such request should be directed to the Falkland Islands Govt.
Falkland Islands Govt also recently stated it also has NOT received any request.
Oh - and last week 2 Arg war widows and n the Islands visiting the cemetery - they also apparently made no mention of this topic either!
And 2 - correct - in 1982 after the battles there were times when the British Soldiers ASKED Argentine Officers to assist them in identifying their bodies - the Argentines REFUSED.
If nothing else it will be a pleasant walk in the fresh air and a chance to participate in the national sport of shouting Argentina and Patria.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 09:54 am - Link - Report abuse 0Any chance of a few burning tyres and stone throwing ?
They should be marching on their own government to demand the repatriation of their fallen .
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 09:58 am - Link - Report abuse 0Aaawwww, bless!
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 11:40 am - Link - Report abuse 0The cowards of the continent are going to shout abuse in the lowest level of Jibber-jabber at the UK Consulate building.
Good luck with that.
TMBOA must be so pleased with her lies and deceit that these twats do exactly what she wants them to do. Will they be praising Scioli tomorrow and Saturday, well they will if the usual bribe comes along.
The FIG should dig up the graves and ship the crap to the nearest argie port and leave them to it.
No different to mines contamination in many respects and they need to be rid of them.

Oct 22nd, 2015 - 01:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0At least the article does say allegedly.
Do you think Argentina made some media announcement, but failed to officially inform the FI, UK or Red Cross. they just assumed media statements are the same as official requests?
Argentina, losing the plot, again.
Correct the ICRC has not received a request, neither has the British Government and neither has the Falkland Islands Government. When asked about the Argentine announcement, the British Government status indicated that they would treat any such request sympathetically.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 01:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I'm sure the Argentine election is just a co-incidence.
Stop using the KIA. Let them rest in peace.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 02:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Just another Ploy.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 02:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0This may well turn into a violent confrontation if Quebracho and La Campora decide to get involved as well.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 02:45 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@7. Didn't I recommend this months ago and get castigated for it. Now dig the crap up and toss it in the ocean. Killer whales etc need feeding. For the sake of the dipstick trollies, the UK has NO authority to direct the internal domestic affairs of the Falkland Islands. Guess who the argies have to talk to. But never mind. Whatever's left is going in the ocean. Does politics come first. Do demonstrate how much you care about people! Perhaps you could wonder if WE care. Who attacked? Who invaded? Who occupied? WHY would we care? Argieland should quit talking about humanitarianism and cruelty. Let there be no mistake. We are talking about invaders, occupiers and war criminals. They deserved to die. Let's see argies down on their knees begging the Falkland Islands Government to act.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 03:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Well, well, well!
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 04:24 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Is this the death knell for Macri's aspirations?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/falklandislands/11947020/mauricio-macri-argentina-britain-falklands.html
What happened to the dog tags they were wearing? It is usual for one to remain with the body, the other went to the Red Cross. Did the conscripts not have dog tags?
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 04:55 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Many conscripts were rushed to the Falklands and didn't have dog tags. Identification was made more difficult by the refusal of Argentine officers to assist with identification and recording of the dead.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 05:49 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The Argie vets should be told to send their request to the FIG , and if approved, they could then allow a small, closely monitored team of these so-called veterans to be sailed in on Fat Maximo's yatcht, to dig up the graves , and take the remains back to Argentina, where, if they how to test the DNA, they can do it themselves. All at the expense of the Argie Government.
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 07:36 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Others on here have stated many times in the past,
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 07:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0dig them up, and send them to the red cross,
the Falkland's government should approach the red cross and state, enough is enough,
take the remains and soddy offy,
@ 13 Conqueror
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 07:53 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I am not saying, or agreeing with, dumping the remains in the ocean.
There are families involved here and are as much hijacked by this dreadful regime and TMBOA as The Falklands and Uruguay are.
You know my view on eliminating Peronism which involves executing ALL the government and ALL the top Peronists in the regional government and making the act of being a Peronista an executable offence once the initial action is completed.
Being the abject cowards that all Peronista and K's are (the same thing applies) it would stop this poison stone dead.
But not everybody agrees with that.

Oct 22nd, 2015 - 08:31 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I completely agree with you. The only dead that should be interred to a sea burial are members of the navy and it's very rare now days. All fallen soldiers should be and deserve to be treated with proper respect.
In almost all armed forces, desecration of a war grave is a serious crime.
Let's face facts, the Argentine government is politically using the dead for propaganda, but let's not ignore the sincere grief of the suffering families that just want to identify their beloved.
@20 Chicureo,
Oct 22nd, 2015 - 09:18 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Thats true.
The dead deserve respect.
Not glorification or to be used as political pawns, but respect.
Although that is not them, it was merely their vehicle & their spirits/souls have moved on.
However if the Argentines want these bodies back, then give them to them.
They are their property afterall, but Argentina should bear the total cost of repatriation.
l see that these veterans are demanding DNA tests.
Don't these Argentines love words like demanding & insisting?

Oct 22nd, 2015 - 10:49 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Don't forget that my sympathies are with the Falklanders. Always has been.
It sincerely would be a very good investment for the FIG to offer paying for all costs of disinterment of the Argentine War dead and shipment via the Red Cross to Argentina. Frankly their presence is a liability as well as political complication.
I still remain in the Chilean Naval active reserve and repatriation of fallen servicemen whenever possible is always paramount. A civilized society sometimes has to take life, but they always must respect the dead as well.
As far as Argentines being demanding” and “insisting”, I've had to put up with my crybaby neighbors all my life.
Ooh they're sooo strong
Oct 23rd, 2015 - 02:23 am - Link - Report abuse 0Dig em up and ship em out.
Oct 23rd, 2015 - 07:41 am - Link - Report abuse 0Everyone's a winner.
“The British government has displayed a high degree of insensitivity by not replying to the International Red Cross, and because of this we are going to make public to world opinion such cruelty towards the families of the combatants who are unable to mourn and know about the final destination of their beloved ones”, concludes the release.
Oct 23rd, 2015 - 09:46 am - Link - Report abuse 0The duplicity and hypocrisy of the Argentine government knows no bounds. To try and use the families of the dead soldiers as an excuse to accuse the UK of cruelty when they have trumped up their accusations beggars believe. If these awful people really believe that they can seduce world opinion on to their side by this farrago of lies and deceit then they must believe that everybody is as morally compromised and as thick as they are.
Once again we have Argentina trying to blame somebody else for problems of its own making. When will they learn that before they can salvage the soul of their country and a modicum of respect in the eyes of the world, they need to get honest and accept responsibility for their criminal behaviour?

One word solution. Repatriation.
Oct 24th, 2015 - 09:42 am - Link - Report abuse 0The UK will return the Malvinas within the next 25 years.

Oct 27th, 2015 - 06:37 am - Link - Report abuse 0First generation Argentinian President Macri will have far more important stuff to deal with.... like declaring La Campora an illegal organisation and shutting down their Troll Department... so thats you out on the street.

Oct 27th, 2015 - 09:09 am - Link - Report abuse 0In that case, your problem is solved. When this mythical event takes place then you can do what you want with your war dead.
So. all the posturing can be shelved until the second coming.
