Argentina's next foreign minister Susana Malcorra, who will have the task of reestablishing relations with 'all countries', including those with which there are pending or difficult situations, made it a point to underline British Prime Minister David Cameron's gesture of phoning president elect Mauricio Macri to congratulate him on his victory. ”...what is signed must be respected. This leads to basic trust in that Argentina effectively has a state policy and, if you join, you play by the rules“.

So, is that the one they made up a few years ago in their constitution, or the one they signed in 1850?

“There is the whole issue of Antarctica. We are not going to deny our claims”

I warned everybody YEARS AGO!! Argentina's next government will be more intelligent and pivot the Antarctic question with cunning and as I have recommended for a long time!

Why is it that nations that like on the other extreme of the latitude spectrum, in the year 2020 ( MID 21st century almost 100 years after the COLONIAL/IMPERIALIST era was ended), are still claiming a territory in another continent and hemisphere? Forget whether they have reasons or not (they really don't), even if they had the best arguments... it's the 21st CENTURY and colonial ambitions are over, this according to THEM!

Argentina will now point the hypocrisy of this.

I have always said the Falklands are British, the people there should decide. Antarctica has no population to speak for it (except for Argentines born there), no self-determination to decide, and no cultural links to Europe. So European claims to it are nothing but a LAND GRAB, and no one can wiggle out of that one.

Macri's more sophisticated foreign policy will tend to ignore the Falklands but highlight the Antarctic question. I have no doubt that also Argentina's presence in the region will be strongly reinforced in the coming years, and the ice-breaker will be quickly and finally repaired.

Left, right - they're are still rottingroadkillians.

    @2

Latin colonists in the area of South America known as Argentina are guilty of a (further) attempted LAND GRAB, and no one can wiggle out of that one.

Antarctica is NOT South America, and transporting pregnant women there to give birth just highlights that claiming a territory in another continent is still considered okay by Latin expansionists.

No need to point out the hypocrisy of this: The world does not accept it, a worthless act that shows the true nature of BA's Latin colonist government.

Britain's Antarctic “Land Grab” #2 predates Argentina's Antarctic land grab. As geography is irrelevant in international law (declared so in 1928) the British Antarctic claim beats the Argentine Antarctic claim every time.

@2 Uh, no. Argentina is colonising Antarctica on top of the claims of many others who previously claimed the same territory -- in the characteristically thieving Argentine fashion. There is not the slightest legitimacy of Argentina's claims to the British Antarctic Territory, which were established long before anyone in Argentina could pilot a boat.

TIT/Brasso - British influence has been in SA a long time. In the run up to WW1, Brazil bought 2 Dreadnought warships from GBR. Chile was helped by Bernado O'Higgins to set up it's government and Cochrane? (not sure) assisted with their navy. Even Argentina had economic help, do some SA countries are more grateful than others it seems.

Here are some other fun facts about Glorious Brazil:

    - Brazil was the last western country to abolish slavery, in 1888. More than 40% of the people forcibly transported to the Americas ended up in Brazil.
    - Brazil has the largest number of homicides in the world. It also has a homicide rate (25.2/100,000) amongst the highest in the world (c.f. the US with a rate of 3.8 or the UK with a rate of 1.0).
    - Brazil is one of the most unequal countries in the world. It has a Gini-index of ~0.53, well above the US (0.41) and the UK (0.38).
    - Brazil has let hundreds of thousands of sq. kilometres of rainforest be destroyed, including a huge fraction in the few decades.
    - An unnecessarily huge percentage of births are by Caesarian section for some reason.

Brazil is only important by virtue of its size. That is the only reason it can justify domestic production of armaments.

Your drivel about the Royal Family is nothing but deflection. Do you think anyone cares about the fact that the Royal Family trace most of their heritage back to Germans? @21. But then various parts of South America were helped by private individuals, not European governments. South America was helped by the courage of British individuals. Courage that the latino invaders of south america didn't have. Attack indigenous people wielding bows and arrows and spears, with pistols, muskets, rifles, cannon, that's fine. Go up against another European country armed with the same, and better, weapons and they ran. Much like the gutless argies ran in '82.

You are right about Admiral Lord Thomas Cochrane. After making a name for himself as a succesful and daring Captain, he licensed himself from the Navy and became an MP, using his position to attack the Admiralty, where his abrasiveness had earned him powerful enemies. To silence him, he was then falsely accused of stock exchange fraud, which resulted in his being stripped of his rank and by the R.N. In 1816, he was approached by the Chilean Ambassador to London, and was hired (as a mercenary) by Chile to form a navy with the intent of getting rid of the Spaniards. After liberating Chile from colonial rule, in 1819 he was invited by Brazil's Emperor, D. Pedro I, to get rid of the Portuguese. He was successful here as well, and after 3 years returned to England. Eventually, in 1840, he managed to get his case reopened and was aquitted of all charges, after proving he had been framed. He was reinstated in the R.N., and after an outstanding career went on to become First Lord of the Admiralty. He died in 1860, a few weeks short of his 85th birthday, and today is reckoned by many naval historians, as the best naval commander Britain has ever had.

    @21 BRasshole

The “save the rainforest” is just another COLONIAL grab by the northerners, who while promptly having completely DESTROYED their own environment and natural wonders, now want to impose on the Brazilians, Indonesians, Africans, etc, that they need to just let the land fallow unproductive.

I am all for protecting the rainforest, but if the Northern nations want to do it, then the answer is very simple: PAY!

50 Euro per rainforest covered hectare per day.... Not much to ask:

    Amazon = 60 million hectares
x 50 daily rent by EUians, NorthAMOANS, Jappers, Ozzers, etc = 3 billion Euros per day.

    1 YEAR = 900 billion.

    @51

That's not your choice is it. If you want the rainforest saved because it is part of the “world”, then the burden of protecting it should not conviniently fall upon just those nations that have the rainforest. EVERYONE SHOULD PAY.

This is the typical EUian view, they want all the environmental safeguards, protecting refuges, but NOT IN MY BACKYARD.

Which is why even within Europe they have just left Italy to handle alone the costs of the migrant crisis, in a typically cowardly EUian fashion.

And so they want the rainforest nations to bear the costs of just leaving those lands to which they are sovereign untouched. They pay nothing but reap the rewards of the rainforest “atmospheric” and medicinal wonders.

Yea right. Why doesn't England evacuate Scotland and make it a huge nature reserve then? France abandon Provence and Corcica, Italy all of Piedmont, Spain Galicia, Germany evacuate Bavaria, etc??????

The northern countries ARE protecting their northern rain forests which are larger than the Amazon rain forest. They are harvesting and replanting them.
The tropical forests are being burned, slashed to turn into grazing land and palm oil plantations. Quick buck and no consideration even for their own people who are being displaced.
Once a Latam always a Latam. It was ever thus.

You don't keep up do you. Greece is taking the bulk of the refugees.
It's a world problem. You have far too much land for a small population. You could easily but that would be doing something helpful to accommodate another 50 million. Your country has a history of stealing land, borrowing large sums of money and refusing to pay it back and incessantly whining that it is everyone else's fault and responsibility. Man up and do something useful.

Again, you are just shooting off your mouth in ignorance.
Do you understand the political make up of the UK ? I thought not.
Despite what Conqueror holds forth, there is NO sovereign country called England. It is the largest country in the UK . Scotland is the next largest country with Wales and N.Ireland next. The UK parliament has control over defence, taxation and foreign affairs but Scotland has devolved legal powers covering the countryside. The Argentine approach to cooperation in international matters was perhaps never quite as clear as in the current climate change talks in Paris, when current Argie VP Boudou (under criminal indictment of course, since he is Argentine) said that Argentina is not about to lift one fooking finger to reduce emissions from its largest-producing sector.

Funny how the argentos beat their chests claiming to be an industrialised and developed country when its suits their immense ego, but when it comes time to actually cooperate on international matters, Argentina suddenly becomes a poor downtrodden disadvantaged descalzado “developing” country, howling that all the planet's problems are solely the responsibility of the civilised nations.

“Saxon, the rainforest is ours. We destroy the rainforest way we want and when we want. Ok? ”

Brasshole, while you are right that the rainforest is (mainly) in Brazil, and therefore is 'ours', to “destroy it the way and when we want” is not a particualarly intelligent approach....not that I ever expected one from YOU.....besides Brazil shooting itself in the foot , chopping it down benefits no one except the criminals who do it, and into the bargain screws the rest of Brazil. You are too fucking stupid to realize that the rainforest can and should be explored in a sustainable manner, without destroying it, and while you might not like the idea of it benefiting the world as a whole, you don't get it that it is essential to maintain an abundant water supply, even for Brazil.
Get over it asshole, the Amazon rainforest belongs to humanity.

    A few observations.
Argentina the UK and Chile all signed the Antarctic treaty in 1961.Any claim to the continent is invalid.

The ability to build a centerfuge is a very small part of the production of a nuke bomb.A fission bomb can be built with enriched uranium but would only be a fraction the power of a hydrogen bomb.

A nuke weapon needs a delivery system, the delivery system is far more difficult to build than the bomb.

A bomb with the capacity to destroy Europe LOL ! The nuclear winter caused by a bomb that big would cause a nuclear winter that would wipeout most life on Earth.

Look we are dealing with a deranged juvenile here who lives in a fantasy world.
Nuclear weapons were developed and kept in the UK's arsenal because of the very real threat from the Soviet Union during the cold war. The major powers came to a modus vivendi realising that the use of these weapons would lead to total destruction of their countries.
Any country that acquires nuclear weapons becomes a potential target themselves. If Brazil wants to go down this road, fair enough. Who knows, they may just decide to plop one on Buenos Aires.

You can't even design and build a modern fighter aircraft without help and you expect us to believe that your scientists are far ahead of any in the UK and USA.
An undetectable super weapon. If it is undetectable how do you know about it.

Being undetectable would make it a threat to mankind so I presume the USA would knock it out before it became operational. You would need to test it and in so doing you would reveal it's location. The USA would take care of it before you could blink.

Your story smacks of Putin's miracle weapon..a torpedo with a range of thousands of miles travelling at 300mph delivering a cobalt bomb to a country's coast- line. Undetectable....I don't think so. We have highly trained bottle-nosed dolphins in the RN who could pick up the sonic disturbances and report back to base using their GPS equipment with details of location, speed and direction of the missile.
So you can in no way best us.....except maybe you could develop 15 Megaton miniature nukes you could fit into the mangoes you sell us, set to detonate at predetermined co-ordinates. That would be nasty and completely unsportsman like .

I await your next revelation with faint anticipation.

Just fyg, the 'scramjet (supersonic combustion ramjets ) was created in the US, the research having started about 50 years ago......Brazil is just having a good ole suck at US technology, and you think it was a Brazilian invention....who told you that ? Lula ?
Your statement “In many war and social aspects Brazil is the most advanced country in the world today”, takes the prize...for ignorance. Why do you insist on crapping out of your mouth all the time ? Socially, Brazil has certain aspects that are far worse than even the worst in West Africa...enormous lack of public sanitation, garbage spread all over the place (just go to the suburbs of all large towns) , disease (most recent, “dengue”, chikungunya, and Zika virus), general disorganization..... Where Brazil undisputably holds 1st place, is in crime, corruption, general lack of infrastructure, and you think that makes Brazil an advanced country ? Proof you've never been out of your slum in Curitiba.
The Russian 'Glowing ass' technology isn't going help Brazil very much, that is, if it is even true that the Russians made it available to Brazil...
Funny that you should mention the agribusiness...it is the one sector that Lula, back in 2005, did his best to sabotage, as it was a legacy of FHC....Lula, in one of his less lucid moments - which was just about all of of them - said that it was unhealthy for Brazil to depend on one source of foreign income, so what did he do ? Instead creating conditions for the other sectors to prosper as well, he decided to sabotage the agribusiness, so that it's success wouldn't make his useless leadership pale in comparison.
Yr comments in # 84 are too stupid to comment on...pure, unadulterated BS...

It is with great regret that I have to confirm that the BRasshole IS actually Brazilian. He lives in Curitiba, PR. He has inadvertently given clues in the past to where he lives (slum ?) , that he is afro-descendant, and might even have ties with some muzzie community.
He speaks ( or rather, writes) Portuguese fluently ; his rants are typical of a rabid petista, the things he latches on to are a sure sign he is a militant petista. A very sad combination of factors, which allied to his low level of education, have produced the piece of shit that he is....and an embarrasment to Brazil.
But you must admit, 'it' can be amusing...at times.

Like about 99,9% of all 'petistas', they cannot bear the truth, so they create their own version of it.....and then it is strengthened by the brainwashing, usually quite effective with ignorant assholes. His source of 'news' is a socialist rag called “Tijolaço”, run by a rather insignificant communist in the media circus. He subscribes to this kind of crap because the editorials in the serious papers are above his brain-grade.

Better build a new fighter aircraft that does not depend on British technology then.

The Gripen was part developed by British Aerospace as well as SAAB.

The original wings for a start were British.

Not a lot of German technology in the Gripen.

Yes Brassiere is at times, mind bogglingly stupid.

However, it seems to be a 'managed' account. There are obviously more than just the one user, or he's faking it pretty good, but the English language proficiency varies greatly. We have th 'Guffawing Brasso', who just makes noise, and we have 'PT Mandate Brasso' who comes on when they want to deliver a serious message to counter an article or knowledgeable poster. PT mandate is obviously a higher tiered educated propagandist, as opposed to the usual ground level braying ignoramus.

The purpose of this video is what ? To show us that the Brazilian Air Force consists of obsolescent aircraft that would not last 5 minutes against a modern equipped air force.
You have 43 F5 EM's....... an updated aircraft of a 50 year old design.
Not up to the job in a modern conflict.
The AMX is light weight attack aircraft which, without fighter support would not survive a modern air war scenario. Note also that it is powered by a British engine.

The RAF could swat you like flies. Chile could also destroy your air force with it's F-16'S.

Maybe you are not as good as you think you are. Anyway, I can see no way that the UK and Brazil would ever be in military conflict.

    For the education of Brasshole

The SAAB Grippen is fitted with a British main radar, ejection seat, weapons control system, short range missiles and carbon fibre airframe components.

Also the engine is American but built in Sweden by GKN a British company.

Over 30% of the aircraft is British.

@123 Always a good indicator, this poverty business. And of course the numbers that the Argentine government supplied are... worse than useless. Some NGOs have stepped in. Like the Universidad Católica Argentina and its Observatorio de la Deuda Social Argentina. Their numbers indicated that during the last four years (that would be under Cristina's watch) the poverty levels in Argentina increased. Quite the opposite of what that Kirchner government tried to [falsely] represent to an appropriately skeptical world.

That organisation shows that from 2011 to 2014 the poverty rate in Kirchnerist Argentina climbed from 24.7% to 28.7%

The World Bank sees the numbers a little differently, with their measurement also showing increasing poverty rates under the last four Kirchner years. World Bank numbers 2014:

Brasil 20.4% poor and 10.8% indigent
Argentina 10.8% poor and 4.2% indigent
Chile, 7.5% poor and 2.3% indigent
Uruguay, 7.1% poor and 2.5% indigent

Do the aircraft drop out of the sky if the music is turned off.

Very impressed to see that your airforce can attack ..........paper targets.

It is a good thing that Brazil has no intention of attacking the Falklands as one Typhoon could take out all of the aircraft in that video.
