This is all “too” normal, almost like it's a normal country.

    I smell something.

Early days yet and Macri has already pulled off a few good moves.

If he keeps going as he is TMBOA will soon be shown for what she was, even to her 'stinking poor': the hag who destroyed Argentina.

Can't wait for the next surprise.

The little racist begins to wonder if she will ever see the country he spent years googling and snap chatting and twitting about, gawking at pictures of Mendozan wine country, forever googling a street he could not name. The she wonders, maybe I should visits mommies homeland!

And in the past when I said you people just talking about Argies being racist, it was shot down as an argument. But now it's ok if you do it?

The picture of Macri at Olivos makes me wonder: when La Yegua and her stablemates packed up their pilchas and moved out, did they sh*t upon the floors to the degree that the argie milicos did in the public and private buildings during their brief but uninvited squat in the Falkland Islands?

Toby, Doesn't understand honor or how to behave in polite company. In a civilized country, the FORMER Prez doesn't go around bashing and threatening the current Prez.
Lots of people disliked Bush but at least he's kept himself out of public discourse and let Odumbo dig his own hole. I bet Odumbo won't do the same. He's a classless SOB with an agenda. He is lazy though so maybe he won't go around like the last failed Prez Carter trying to relevant.

@10 Interestingly there was an article yesterday where the state of the Presidential buildings were discussed. Olivos has marks on the walls and is in need of a clean up. It really needs complete refurbishment but Macri stated they were mindful of not spending much money when they are asking people to make cut backs. And there was no hot water in the shower at Casa Rosada. I am not sure if that was CFK's preference or if she turned the hot water off out of spite.

#11 I note that you think that all the bad US Presidents were Democrats? To people outside the US its the other war around! W was an absolute disaster for the US and the whole world. Him and his poodle BLiar are responsible for the huge mess in the Middle East and the death of millions of decent people. Carter was one of your best.
Your present lineup of loonies and closet fascists is a joke, but they are very entertaining especially combover Trump. Hillary will trample them.

    15. There's a reason the USA became the largest richest country in the world. We don't care what people in other countries think.

You must be one of the few people in the world that think Carter was a good Prez.
Obama, Carter, LBJ, Truman, Roosevelt created terrible gov't policies that were still dealing with.

Teh only good think Odumbo has done is made teh USA more conservative. He has decimated the Dem party. They don't even have enough $ to pay for a convention.
There's a good chance Hillary will be in jail before she runs. I wouldn't hold your breath.

    17. One of the reasons you see so many screeching wailing nervous Progs (Dems) in the USA is Odumbo was their best and final hope to drag the USA to the left and it was a complete and utter failure. They know they're not getting a 2nd chance. One more terrorist attack in the USA and there won't be a Dem elected for the next 30 yrs.

“Anglo culture”? At least they have a culture which seems to be appreciated world wide. I can't think of anything in Argentina which can be called culture...except the Tango....and of course the ritual tyre burning ceremonies.

    @7 Tobias

The problem with people like you is that you only allow freedom of speech and freedom of expression if the 'people' agree with you. When they don't then you screech and call them traitors, and say they're being 'undemocratic'.

In a truly free country anyone can say anything about anyone (as long as they don't insite others to violence). You can have an opinion about anything, you can even state that you believe someone is a traitor because of their beliefs, but one thing they won't be is undemocratic.

How many times is various countries (Argentina, Venezuela, Bolivia) have we heard the term 'democratising' the judiciary or the press, when they haven't agreed with the government? People like you, Tobias, don't understand democracy, so are therefore afraid of it. You are afraid of anyone who is different to you or has a different opinion.

Dictatorships and pseudo-demcoracies can use the word democratic as much as they like, but it doesn't make them democratic. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (that's North Korea to you) is neither democratic nor truly a republic (as one family rules there...a Royal family in all but title...a monarchy in fact). These are just words. And will always be just words until they are backed up with deeds and actions.

Countries with 'Peoples' 'Republic' and 'Democratic' in the title tend to be war-torn hell holes or dictatorships.

Macri is attempting to unite the provinces to work for Argentina. It is better to have them in the inside of the tent pissing out. They are all cash-strapped. Santa Cruz is one of the worst because of the number of people on the government payroll compared to the income. They no longer have the constant flow of money being sent there by CFK's government. Interestingly, Max Kirchner told Alicia Kirchner to go to the meeting to ask for money. (Who is really running things there?) When everyone spoke at the meeting, bringing up insecurity, tackling the drugs trade, job creation etc. Alicia just asked for money.

@10 “when La Yegua and her stablemates packed up their pilchas and moved out, did they sh*t upon the floors to the degree that the argie milicos did in the public and private buildings during their brief but uninvited squat in the Falkland Islands?”

I don't know about that, but apparently they removed furniture, computers etc. from both Olivos and Casa Rosada. Surely this is theft of government property? If it was up to me, I'd follow this up. If you can legitimately lock someone up for theft of a government PC then it gives you some time to find out what else they've been up to and you've removed some of their power to hide their tracks or make public statements. Remember, Al Capone was ultimately arrested for tax evasion rather than more serious crimes...

I've heard that CFK asked Macri for immunity from prosecution during their private meeting but he said it wasn't in his power - that was down to the judiciary. If true, good for him! Boudou is already in doodoo, who next?

I liked Macri's comment to the press on using the press room for the first time in 12 years “Were you able to find your way here OK?”

Apparently the governors also had positive comments on the meeting. There was no discussion with CFK-she simply ordered them what to do. I can't imagine that they'd want to go back to the K ways, must be a breathe of fresh air for them too.

Be interesting to see how it pans out with Alicia. I'm sure that if she simply asks for money, Macri will want to know what she wants it for. Could be embarrassing if she hasn't got a plan...

@24 Yes. She was told by Max to go and she did. Santa Cruz is desperately short of money even though we saw the trucks of money sent there just before the 10th December. That only covers about half of the wages until March. (I am remembering this rather than fact checking) Santa Cruz has a huge payroll of Kirchnerites.

Another loss of income is to CFK's hotels. They used to be booked full by Kirchner run companies like Aerolineas. However, if you visited them when they were 'full', they were pretty much empty. Nice way to channel money into Kirchner's pockets.

@ 30 Carter must have been pleased when Obama Hussein came along, since it took some pressure off the former's much-envied position as Worst US President Since WWII and Maybe Longer. But Carter worked hard to have his poor performance and counterproductive policies broadly recognised domestically. What may have been perceived as “ diplomacy and kindness” in Albania and North Korea were correctly perceived within the US as malfeasance, incompetence, timidity, endless dithering, and the sort of spine one associates with the more primitive cephalopods.

#26....Elaine...54 % of the population in Santa Cruz work for the government. In the last 8 years in Mendoza, 30.000 fvp followers were added to the payroll. This province is also broke...a new covered stadium in Parque San Martin stands unfinished...Perez screwed that up. The main road through the park stands unfinished since May...supposed to be finished in October.
And...the government of cfk maintained a black list...included in the list was the now Pope of Rome...and also included Susana Gimenez and Mirtha Le Grand.

“. Are you sure? Seems to me your butting in where nobody is asking”

Seems to me that I was refuting Enrique's statements about the flawed parallels he was drawing between the Arg economy and the Cansdian economy - and YB/Chronic butted in with snide comments.

Speaking of snide, what is “voice” doing here now? :-I

    Worcester Sauce.

I've only ever known it as Worcestershire Sauce (Woostersheer if I need to prove some silly authenticity).

Or Salsa Inglesa..... for those of us that have actually travelled.

“I've only ever known it as Worcestershire Sauce ”
That's because you are a foreigner....Brits shorten it to Worcester Sauce...

Since I first became aware of the sauce so long ago I can't remember, it was pronounced wooster to rhyme with rooster. Just one of these peculiar quirks of the English language. Doubtless there are other variants of the pronunciation equally valid.
There are many more puzzling examples.
    Thames pronounced Tems
    Belvoir pronounced Beever
    Featherstonehaugh pronounced Fanshaw
    Milngavie pronounced Millguy.

    Clyde and THE Voice,

    wee man @77
    “It rhymes with Buster... ”

More like Wusster - as used in the sentence, “wee man voice is a wuss...”

I laugh that wee voice has to “prove” it by referring to printed Wiki references, when we all know very well from real, life, experience from many parts of England and GB.

I have to admit that I'm not sure how the Geordies might pronounce it, or our sage of Glasgow/Dunoon, but if anyone has hearing problems its voice - or he truly does not know.

Thanks for proving that I have a different accent to you. Also for proving I'm obviously not British. Neither of which I have ever claimed differently.

But if you think that I pronounce Worcestershire Sauce so that it rhymes with rooster...... BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Maybe if I had an American accent.

    Seriously I'm laughing.

This is what I was talking about when I said you nitpick, get stuck on minutiae and flood a thread. Unlike when you jumped on Yankeeboy's attack wagon the other day.

Glad to see you back to normal.

PS: We have a Berwick in Melbourne. Same pronunciation. However Launceston in Tasmania sounds nothing like Launceston in Cornwall. Don't get me going on Mousehole cthankfulky I dated a Cornish guy.

But then most foreigners mangle Australia, Melbourne, Prahran, Brisbane, Canberra, Geelong.... more so Yanks than Poms.

“voice” does try it on doesn't he!

    “Wooster” as in Rooster!
“Wuster” as in Buster or bus!

    “I looked in Wiki...”!!

“I listened to to the recording...” !!

    Doesn't he know??

The real question is, why did he pose the question in the first place?? LOL!

What was he trying to prove??

Would he have chosen “ Worcester Sauce” if he didn't have all his ' research' all prepared to back him up??

Just more “voice” deflection and personal attention- seeking.

For your info. I worked in London in 1961. I also lived in Bearsden from 1965/1971 which you no doubt realise is next to Milngavie. I was in the town practically every other day as my wife preferred shopping there. We still visit the town to go to the Lillie Gallery when there is an exhibition we wish to see.
I also surveyed the breeding birds of the area for 4 years, visiting every corner of
OS Square NS57 so I know it rather well.

As far as I am aware, the common pronunciation sounded like MILLGUY.

Some may say Mullguy others Millguy depending on how their vowels sound. In Drumchapel it would probably be Mullguy but they buy pints of mulk, in posh Bearsden it would be Millguy. In Milngavie it could depend to whom you are speaking. Many of the locals believe the name came from Gavin's mill and was corrupted.

Anyway, who the hell cares about nit picking, point scoring attempts over pronunciation. We all probably pronounce words subtly different even in the same geographical area.
A Geordie will say a boot, I will say a boat but we both know to what we refer.
I would say a spade and a Glaswegian would say an effing shovel.

Time to move back to the topic heading if anyone can remember what it was.

There isn't much of an emphasis on the U..more on the ll so it could sound Millguy or Mullguy depending on the speaker....

I have never felt the need to do the West Highland Way, although I have walked the Mugdock woods to Carbeth section umpteen times, occasionally deviating to the Whangie, before they had even thought of naming the route.
Mugdock woods at that time was just known as the Bluebell woods...for obvious reasons.
Name dropping...I also knew Tom Weir when we were voluntary wardens at the Loch Lomond Nature Reserve in the 1960's.
