    Finally!

Doors might start opening in London instead of slamming in the face as has been the recent protocol.

So, no change in the Argentine stance, just no aggressive rhetoric shown at this moment. I am not convinced it is in the Falklands long term interests for doors to start opening in London!

Good diplomatic relationships are priceless and in no way mean selling out the Falklands. The stance of the British Government has not and will not change. The decision about the future of the Falklands is entirely in the hands of the Falkland Islanders.

I see this as a step towards better trade.

That beats 'Chicken or Pizza' hands-down.

Now as long as he just trots out the line that 'The Mythical Malvinas are Argentine' and then keeps his mouth shut on the subject he may get somewhere.

I find it curious and hilarious that there's so many economists in Argentina.
One of the worst performing economies the world has ever seen and they produce economists like most countries produce engineers.

@3. Sorry, Elaine. Stuff the trade. The Islanders, their homes and their land come first. Argie goods might be useful for the UK, but not essential. Britain's honesty and honour are. Argies have neither honesty nor honour. They are little different to muslims for whom it's fine to lie, cheat, steal and kill non-muslims.

The Falklands are never going to be Argentine so that is not even an issue. There is more than one way to get a country to behave. The more trade is built with Argentina, and the more dependent they become on the income and resultant jobs, the less likely they are to upset the relationship. Good trading relations achieved far more than pointless diatribe. Someone should have mentioned that to Alicia, though she was never a diplomat, just a mouthpiece for CFK.

What you are saying is that the Argentinian population cannot pull their socks up and produce goods and services that are of value ?
Japan, S.Korea and Germany rose from almost complete devastation to have a brilliant economic future. Why can't Argentina ? It will need a change of attitude and hard work. Are you genetically inferior to the rest of the worlds population. Maybe you need an infusion of Anglo Saxon blood.

    ah ok.

So just regular warfare and conquest are now defined as terrorism, just so you and Clyde and the rest can get jab at argies.

    Fimn

ne, but rather myopic. Because that definition of terrorism then makes the United Kingdom and most european powers, and the United States as well as Australia into the most prolific terrorist societies amd perpetastors in world history.

Your train of thought is risible. I asked a legitimate question, actually putting my faith in receiving a serious, cogent response. But you all wanted to be cute.

Now you want to claim that I am the one going in circles when it is in fact YOU who above just returned to the virtually univocal concept that army warfare while execrable is not Terrorism in its understood concept. Which was my point of reference when asking a listing of Argentine terrorist attacks.

And you try to pin your 180 on the definition of terrorism on me? Weak.

The answer to your original question is unknown. I do not know if Argentineans have undertaken terrorist acts against foreigners.

I accept your definition that terrorism doesn't involve regular warfare and conquests. I'm actually agreeing either you.

Surely you have a point you are making (however laboriously).

Which none of you bothered to refute which means you agree. So I disagreed and asked for proof of the statement above. Then you and the others came along with your new definition of Terrorism which signifies the United Kingdom was a significant terrorist organization operating in Iraq from 2003 to 2010, and that just for starters.

Yeah you didn't really make a point.

Chicken Pox apparently came from the Neanderthals. It is mostly accepted that red hair is a Neanderthal trait, as are robust bones and extremely light skin that does not tan.

If you look at the British Isles and population characteristics, you will notice that there is a higher proportion of red heads, many which are clearly “big boned”, and it is well known the British isle natives cannot tan.

Scandinavians, Russians may be just as white but if you have noticed their skin can naturally tan. Many British do not tan.

I have always said there is nothing wrong with being a Neanderthal, they are thought now to be just as smart as Homo Sapiens, and have higher incidence of Autism and Aspergers (I forgot about this one). Aspergers is a condition where people find it more difficult to socialize and form new social groups, but are also more likely to be geniouses or be great at a particular field.

Many say Neanderthals died out because they were not at social as HS and also too specialized. Some scientists claim the specialization gene may be linked to Aspergers, Autism, Idiot Savants, etc.

So yes, the UK is also responsible for Autism, not just chicken pox.

    Happy Mawlid day.

    Many say Neanderthals...........Some scientists claim.

By the way, Neanderthal is in mainland Europe, in Germany, so that is where the link comes from...not the UK.
So, from these gems of wisdom, you claim ALL science proves this.
Sloppy work but what we have come to expect from your posts.
I presume you have a degree in anthropology to make such a definitive statement.
    TO QUOTE;-
When our ancestors first migrated out of Africa around 60,000 years ago, they were not alone. At that time, at least two other species of hominid cousins walked the Eurasian landmass—Neanderthals and Denisovans. As our modern human ancestors migrated through Eurasia, they encountered the Neanderthals and interbred. Because of this, a small amount of Neanderthal DNA was introduced into the modern human gene pool.

Everyone living outside of Africa today has a small amount of Neanderthal in them, carried as a living relic of these ancient encounters. A team of scientists comparing the full genomes of the two species concluded that most Europeans and Asians have between 1 to 4 percent Neanderthal DNA.
So you have some Neanderthal in your genes.

We are responsible for chicken pox.? It occurs worldwide but was first described in England in 1767 by William Heberden.
Chicken pox has likely been a human affliction for thousands of years. For, example, there is suggestive evidence of chickenpox in ancient Babylonia more than 2,000 years ago.
Autism, Britain is responsible for this human condition? Your scholarship is appalling. I doubt you would ever pass any exam in a civilised country.
I can see why Argentina ranks SO LOW in scholarship league tables if you are a prime example.
I could go on and on but what is the point .

He seems to have plagiarized his material from The Evil Empire: 101 Ways That England Ruined the World, Steven A. Grasse http://www.philmoore.com.au
Writing in the Daily Mail, MAX HASTINGS said under the title of the “The Empire Strikes Back”
”…World War I was our fault because Germany wanted an Empire like ours; ..In Mr Grasse's book, poor old Britain is to blame for world poverty, Islamic terrorism (we created Saddam), even the Vietnam War - because we set the world trend for colonial expansion and the war would never have happened had the country not been a French colony.......were the British ever any good?
The short answer, of course, is yes. For about 150 years, between the mid-18th century to the early 20th, we exercised greater influence over the world than any nation in history, and on the whole we did it benignly.
We carried trade, invention and - most important - the rule of law to all manner of societies which had never known these things.
For all the imperfections of the British Empire, it was overwhelmingly a force for stability and good.
Even many Indians today acknowledge a debt to us, for bequeathing them institutions without corruption, ..The record in Africa is more mixed, but the stories of Canada, Australia, New Zealand speak for themselves.
Britain's achievements in The truth is that in almost all Europe's great wars of the past 500 years, Britain has thrown its power into the cause of freedom against that of tyranny - and has prevailed.

You still don't get it do you??

The Anglo still carries the colonial mentality in it.

You know, I think your house is too dirty for my own standards, and needs some better decor. Actually, you also need new plumbing. So, I will go buy a rifle and some grenades, go to your house and threaten to blow your brains out. Then I will settle in, have you go to work (and if you say anything I kill your daughter), and pay the bills. Meanwhile I will take a couple of shots at your daughter, she will appreciate my “lessons”. Your wife too, if she still has looks. I will feed on your refrigerator and make use of your marriage bathroom. But in the meantime I will make the house immaculately clean, will replace the plumbing, install the latest in entertainment technology, give you a brand new luxury car, and yes... the new “decor” (your culture needs a bid of an update, mine is better).

Then, one day, I will “peacefully” leave.

I will then go around the world saying, “look at that house, how clean, how wonderfully decorated, how modern... and I didn't fight to keep it, I left peacefully without firing a shot.”

Any of the above's story's similarities with the British Empire and modern Anglo interpretation of it is just pure coincidence.

No, you still don't get it do you. Unless you have either developed, through your profession or training a “historical-mind” you make the same error that all the unqualified make. HistoricaL events have to be correctly judged by the excepted values of the period. So when Hastings states “We carried trade, invention …” He is absolutely correct as those were the values of all nations at that time. Only, the British were the most succesful. It was pretty enlightened as there was no compulsion on them to do so. Other, than some individuals that acted contrary to imperial policy of the government the British have every reason to be proud of their legacy. When compared, to the policies of your nation, towards your own indigenous and African inhabitants.

Toby is like many disaffected unintelligent angry people who are unsatisfied with the world they have and dream of a different time. Sometimes the dream of the future without war, poverty and peace and sometimes of a dreamy time past that never actually occured. Like saying the natives were a peaceful people living with nature in perfect harmony.
That never happened in reality they were savages killing each other for an ear of corn. At any other time in the past people like Toby would have most likely been dead by now from starvation ,disease, accident or murder. It's only recently that women could walk alone at night and not expect to get molested.

There are still a lot of savages in the world. I think we're in the begins of a long culture war right now. Savages over civilized. The savages always lose in the long run. They're just too dumb to realize it.

“you make the same error that all the unqualified make. HistoricaL events have to be correctly judged by the excepted values of the period. So when Hastings states “We carried trade, invention …” He is absolutely correct as those were the values of all nations at that time”

“. When compared, to the policies of your nation, towards your own indigenous and African inhabitants.”

So as usual, you judge British actions with one goal post and non-British actions with another (of course far more unfair goalpost).

    Typical Anglo.

The policy of Argentina towards indigenous inhabitants and Africans was STANDARD in the “excepted” values of the period”.

At the time, the policy of Argentina, AND THE UNITED STATES, and CANADA, and AUSTRALIA, and NEW ZEALAND, and SOUTHERN AFRICA.... was to place natives in reservations, or find ways to decrease their population. Clear the land for WHITE EUIANS. That was CONSTITUTIONAL policy. White Australia, Apartheid, Jim Crow, Canada's stolen Babies, et al.

So when the Anglo nations above did it, it must be measured with the standards of 1850 or 1900. When Argentina is the one under discussion, the standard is 2016.

    Let's all together now...

“..you judge British actions with one goal post and non-British actions with another..” Not at all, I have simply rebutted, your statement “The Anglo still carries the colonial mentality in it.” When in point of fact the British have aided more nations than any other in achieving independence, and in so doing have contributed more than other country in the development of the international law of self-determination. What independent countries like Canada, USA and Australia have done within the sovereignty of their own countries cannot fairly be blamed on Briton. They also through economic sanctions actively apposed the racist policies of Rhodesia and South Africa. You were the one that first attacked them. I have simply shown that under their watch, unlike Argentina there was no instituted policy of genocide, even with a quarter of the worlds population under their dominion.

It may not be codified, but the historical record clearly attributes the decline of both populations to government sanctioned activity.
“The rapid disappearance of blacks from Argentina has been attributed to racial genocide on the part of the Argentine government. Argentine President Domingo Sarmiento is noted for claiming that blacks can have no part in Argentine society. The Argentine government was known to have carried out similar ethnic cleansing of the countries Native American population. Historians that criticize claims of black casualties in the civil wars often cite the fact that women did not fight in the Argentine wars, yet black women disappeared simultaneously with men in Argentina.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afro-Argentine
”It has been alleged that the president of Argentina from 1868 to 1874, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, sought to wipe out blacks from the country in a policy of covert genocide through extremely repressive policies (including possibly the forced recruitment of Africans into the army and by forcing blacks to remain in neighborhoods where disease would decimate them in the absence of adequate health care).
Tellingly, Sarmiento wrote in his diary in 1848: “In the United States… 4 million are black, and within 20 years will be 8 [million]…. What is [to be] done with such blacks, hated by the white race?“ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afro-Argentine

And getting back to the new Argentine Ambassador to London?

There will be niceties, pleasantries and willingness to improve relations i'm sure. But when the Argentines realise that wrapping a fancy bow around the same old shit receives the same eloquent and quintessential British response - Fuck off!

I think we will be back to business as usual.

Since the practice was indigenous to the tribes of N. America and the British were engaged in a war with the Mi'kmaq, it was the only proof, to collect the bounty on them as they didn't have polaroids.
“French colonists offered payments to Indians for British scalps.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalping
But they were allies of most tribes, and lost the American colonies in part, because of their protection of their partners lands from the settlers encroachments. The indigenous people of Canada still claim the right to appeal legal issues directly to monarch, as they are still technically allies.
”in the interior of the country, Africans and people of African descent made up more than fifty percent of the population in these areas according to Jonathan C. Brown. According the George Reid Andrews in his book The Afro-Argentines of Buenos Aires, 1800-1900, Buenos Aires’s population itself was a third black at the time of the revolution.” I guess they must they must have all died out because of an excess of happyness at being so well received. Hm! Humane genocide, a novel claim.

The bottom line is this: at most 200,000 blacks in 1840 (consensus is 25% population was “black”), total population of the country a bit over 1 million.

From that point on add 5.7 million caucasians to the gene pool. You tell me what happens to 200,000.

As the respondent there is no requirement for me to disprove your assertion. “a zero on the website does not have a bisecting line through it” Which totally undercuts your further claim ”You have typed a Capital O next to a 0 (zero)“ Thus, supporting my claim ”thats how the zero displays on this site.”
Heres the original post which is easily verified 39 Terence Hill, 23 Voice, Vestige, Think et al

Maximizing Citizenship with Minimal Representation: An Analysis of Afro-Argentine Civil Society Organizing Strategies Prisca Suarez
”Sarmiento was one of the most influential .. was to prove the racial theories of the genetic inferiority of the indigenous and Africans that he posited in Facundo, one of the most read Argentine books. Much of Sarmiento’s writing includes overt racism in the form of justifying colonial violence and supporting ethnic cleansing. …convinced him of the existence of two types of people, civilized and barbaric. .. Anything else, criollo, indigenous, and Afrodescendant was by default archaic and barbaric (Katra 1994). …it is also important to note the underlying exclusion of non-Euro-descended peoples. For example in De la educación popular, … indigenous groups were excluded for their “ineducability.” Afro- Argentines, still slaves at the time the work was written, had even less of a place in Sarmiento’s ...vision for progress and modernization (Katra 1996). .... It is clear that as the mediator and founder of modern Argentina Sarmiento did not envision gauchos and Afro- Argentines as part of the new society. Thus, it is not surprising that the Generation of 1880 sought systematic ways to eliminate Afro-Argentines who were seen as less than the gauchos and caudillos that, “at least could be educated.”

“There is scarcely a Buenos Ayrean privateer which has not committed piracy of every description - it appears that at Buenos Ayres itself commissions of Artigas have been sold to the Captains of the Buenos Ayres privateers, who have gone to sea, and used one or the other commission as suited their purposes... There is not a day passes but we hear of new crimes of this description committed under the flag and commission of Buenos Ayres ...”

Re:83 I agree the Indian famine and it's handling was appalling. But, prior to a British presence in India, there had been at least ten devastating famines. George Monbiotis is political activist who is sincere in his efforts to promote his own agenda. The problem with such zealots is they either get it somewhat right or miss spectacularly . For example if you examine his sources, for example Mike Davis. “He also contributes to the British monthly Socialist Review, the organ of the Socialist Workers Party of Great Britain. …He is a self-defined international socialist and ”Marxist-Environmentalist” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Davis_(scholar) So you have a radical who's bias makes him as unreliable as your reactionary historians.
As for the Mau Mau of Kenya they burnt to death other tribes, and it was their opposition that ultimately defeated them “The Home Guard formed the core of the government's strategy as it was composed of loyalist Africans, not foreign forces like the British Army and King's African Rifles. By the end of the emergency, the Home Guard had killed 4,686 Mau Mau, amounting to 42% of the total insurgents. The capture of Dedan Kimathi on 21 October 1956 in Nyeri signified the ultimate defeat of the Mau Mau and essentially ended the military offensive.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Davis_(scholar)
So while I produce the “best available evidence” you can proffer nothing but your empty denials. There is no rational conclusion, other than their extermination. When half of the nation's, and a third of Buenos Aires population ominously disappears. While under the watch of an acknowledged racist president. Sarmiento wrote in his diary in 1848: “In the United States… 4 million are black, and within 20 years will be 8 [million]…. What is [to be] done with such blacks, hated by the white race?” The circumstantial evidence is overwhelming, and is supported by the opinion of every independe
