Furthermore, considering the comment @1, the best thing that can happen for the FI is to trade this crude in destinations far from Argentina. Do you think that Argentine companies are not going to abuse of the fact that they own distilleries for similar chemical characteristic oils? Do you think that Argentine companies are not going to abuse of the fact that they would be the nearest distilleries from the extraction wells? The best thing FI can do is to transport the extracted crude oil far from the area....fact that will make the business even less profitable ......
Summing up, expensive, in deep and icy waters and far from everything !!! .. it does not seem to be a business very attractive and profitable.

According to Rockhopper they say ” despite the increase in scope, the estimate of pre-first oil capex requirement remains at US$ 1.8bn, equivalent to approximately US$8 a barrel. Further cost reductions expected given current market conditions. First oil expected 2020 if Final Investment Decision is made in 2017.

Maybe the oil copmpanies did but you have to understand that its an economic decision that they ( oil companies ) will have to make when first oil will be available. Anyhow how is PUTA MUERTE doing any investment yet? When do you think Argentina will become an oil exporting nation? I will bet that the FALKLANDS will be exporting oil before Argentina.
