Mauricio Macri expects to meet with Barack Obama at the end of next March when the Argentine president attends in Washington the summit on Nuclear Security of which Argentina is a member. The event takes place between 31 March and first April, and if the meeting effectively takes place, it would mean the return of the formal dialogue between the two countries, rather frozen under his predecessor Cristina Fernandez. THANK YOU national review!
You just helped Trump with the center and moderates.
Dems move ultra left.
Establishment indies and repubs shrink to near nil.
Every single mainstream media prognostication about the Donald has been proven absolutely wrong in this campaign.
Nationalist? Sure.America first. The rest if you neverdowells need to exercise a little help your self motivational ingenuity and industry. Contain russia/china yourselves.
Populist? Why not? The democrats and establishment rinos have absolutely abandoned the American worker all the way back to nafta. Minorities have faired worse under Obamy than any president since carter. China is not our friend.
Pragmatist? Perhaps. Obamycare costs much more than free nationalized care. What's wrong with this picture? Time for a clawback from the HIC.
A wall? Why not? Southern immigration has been via the wink and a nod program for decades. Time for a New Deal. American remittances are the single largest Mexican revenue stream. They'll pay for it if they want this money.

Tears of joy!
Argentina becomes again the States and IMF's good pupil!
A brief spring will happen when foreign capital returns to Argentina--followed by raise in unemployment, wage inequality, deficits and sharp increases in foreign debt.
How long the honeymoon will last?
Judging by the quick application of new-liberal recipes, I would give it 'round two years.
Macri and company do not worry about the good times being short. Fortunes will be quickly made, securely stashed in foreign bank accounts and fiscal havens, and a handful of families will have secured their well-being for generations to come.
The country going to the dogs? Who cares about such minutiae?

With all due respect Briton, why would the USA withold assistance to Argentina until they drop the Falklands claim? The US needs to reverse the growing Chinese influence and that US seed has been growing in various regions. Now that cunt lips is out of office and a fairly rational leader is in place, there is no reason not to take baby steps there. Argentina will change for the better, but being here for several weeks now I can tell you in the outer areas, serious training is needed in the mindsets and ehat they deem as acceptable. Watch and learn.
YB, you could be partially correct. I think we will see several different Europes evolve. We already have a Euro zone with the € as its currency. The heart of Europe is Germany, France and the Netherlands with the arsehole of Europe, Luxembourg, clinging on like a bloodsucking leach. This is where it will evolve to in the short term with one or two impoverished countries like Spain and Italy as second class members. Britain will leave, making us £10 billion better off and the Scots will leave the UK leaving England £5 billion per annum or more better off. This will hit the smaller countries who presently benefit from our contribution. Drastic changes in the offing.

Jan 24th, 2016 - 04:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@7. I believe you have got things the wrong way around. Please replace president with fuckwit. Just as a thought, there is a British garrison a few hundred miles off the scumbag coast. It's unassailable. It has an on-station warship, other warships regularly extend capabilities. Can't say when submarines equipped with cruise missiles arrive on-station. Maybe there are a couple every three months. Then there's the heavy lift troop carrying helicopters, the tactical transport, the strategic tanker/transport. And, of course, the combat aircraft.
@8. With all due respect, Poppy, perhaps you might try to recall something that you like to forget. 1964 and the US was desperate for the UK to become involved in the Vietnam War. Lyndon Johnson even begged for a British bagpipe band. Britain stayed out. The US was defeated. To the extent that people had to be evacuated, under fire, from the US Embassy. Go back more years. Admiral Ernest King was such an Anglophobe that he was quite happy to see 4 million tons of American merchant shipping sunk in four months. Not to mention the lives. An American cretin that wouldn't take advice. Think about it. And while you're at it, think about how many British troops Americans have killed in so-called friendly fire incidents. I can assure you that, if I were in command, British troops could be authorised to destroy American aircraft. Blind, part-time bastards. Fancy a British anti-aircraft missile up your rear?
13. Maybe, I doubt very much the southern nations will form their own block. Having one currency with someone else directing your economy was a very stupid idea. I never thought it would succeed.

The Dems are scrambling wondering who could take her place. They have a month to figure it out. They are in disarray.
The Repubs are in good shape. They have a great bank of potential nominees. Any one of them is better than a Dem. Reagan was the last Prez to get his 3rd term since the 50s. I doubt the failed Presidency of Odumbo can accomplish what even the Clinton's couldn't pull off in the 90s.

Jan 24th, 2016 - 06:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 0They estimate the value of Scotland’s 2012 non-oil exports of goods and services to the rest of the UK and the world at £73.6bn. A Scottish government spokesman said on Wednesday that it estimated oil and gas exports that year at £24.4bn.
Taken together those numbers put Scotland’s total 2012 exports at £98bn, making it the 34th biggest exporter in the world...
www.ft.com
The US remains the largest market for Scottish international exports with an estimated £3.9 billion of goods, followed by the Netherlands at £2 billion, Germany at £1.9 billion and France at £1.8 billion.
2012 figures...
98 Billion divided by a population of 5 million....19.6 Billion per million population...
US Exports of 2.3 trillion.....divided by say 300 million population...7.6 Billion per million population....
Appears that Scotland exports almost 3 times as much as the US per person...

please tell me, why Scotland wants to stay in the unmighty collapsing corrupt EU, only for them to blow Scotland's trade with the Americans to the four winds.

Scotland...Mountainous and Lochs...hardly any arable land and sitting on the same latitude as Moscow...
Can you explain why...?
Yes it's easy. We consume 90% of our GDP internally. It's the goal for every advanced nation.
Jan 25th, 2016 - 12:47 am - Link - Report abuse 0No matter how you splice Scotlands numbers you'd rank with the 3rd worlders if you split from the UK.
It would automatically become a country nobody cares about. Too poor to buy much of anything and exports nothing that can't be made somewhere else cheaper and better.
Think Bulgaria.
I thought the goal for every advanced country was to export more than you import...

We're smart, if we can use somebody's backs, hands or lax environmental laws to produce what we need and want cheaper than we can, why wouldn't we?
Isn't it better to produce high end technical goods and services for other people rather than cheap stuff for ourselves?
Does that make sense to you?
Kinda doubt I can teach you basic economics on a message board.
@ 34 yankeeboy
Jan 25th, 2016 - 11:06 am - Link - Report abuse 0Isn't it better to produce high end technical goods and services for other people rather than cheap stuff for ourselves?
Seems a good idea until you realise that a good number of jobs support the low end economy and 'importing' those goods kills the jobs for the low end working Americans.
Just like in the UK and especially in Uruguay who only ever had low end jobs such as clothing and boot and shoe making: no jobs now!
Plus, eventually your high end jobs disappear when the makers of junk have to provide better jobs for their own people. Chinese cars are still crap but they have come a long way very quickly and now US and European makers are doing a stupid move in my view: they are building high end cars in the same factories in China that until recently only made the local junk.
Do they expect that their rapidly climbing share of the local market is going to be maintained when the Chin learn everything about design and clever production from the 'foreigners'?
I don't think so.
And yes, America will continue to develop new products and make them in the US until the Chin overtake them. Then what?
How about that for basic economic / political reality?
Ah, but who wants a Japanese Stratocaster? Everyone wants an American Stratocaster!

British is still best in many peoples heads across the world. Whether its true or not is immaterial. Visit Selfridges, Harrods or Bicester Village to witness this truth.
Same with Whisky, Japanese Whisky is best but most people want Scotch because tbey dont know better.
Made in China is second best in peoples minds, thats what counts.
Chris, We have a pretty balanced economy. The Chinese will never over take anything we produce until we let them take it over. They're not innovators. They copy. They have to have something to copy first.

Well that is not quite true, when Fender Japan Factory produced their first Strats around 1984 -87 (when CBS sold Fender), they were considered just as good, if not better than the US versions as they were produced for export in the US, so were designed and build to the US standards. I was lucky to have inadvertantly bought a 1986 Japanese Strat when purchasing my first guitar in 1989. In the UK Japanese mis 80's Strats are sought after instruments. but like everything it is preference, 99% of the time I don't think you could tell the difference if blindfolded.
