Pity DumbAss Dilma hadn't realised that Dengue is also a killer in certain cases and destroyed the breeding grounds of this mosquito before Zika could gain the ground that it has.

I bet she poo-pood the idea of larvaecide up to now.

It is abundantly clear that The Chief Crook of the Brazil Nuts Party KNEW exactly what he was doing when he ensured this idiot became president. Puppet, anyone?

But heh! Why waste money on the peasants when they have had bribes to pay.

Zika Rouseff, as usual , opens her mouth and puts her foot in it ....

“”......It is the vector. This is why we must stop the mosquito from breeding and being born,” she said.”

Now, if the bloody mosquito is breeding, it is obvious that mosquitoes are 'being born'.......but to Zika Rouseff, breeding and being born must be two totally different things...

“destroyed the breeding grounds of this mosquito”

    Well, no.

Both Dengue and Zika are spread by several mosquitos of the Aedes genus.

It needs only a very small amount of water to breed, and all the water tanks on top of houses are ideal for the purpose.

Given god conditions, heat and water as in Brasil, the egg hatches in less than 24 hours. Then follow 3-4 days as larva and after 2 days as pupa, the female mosquito is ready to bite.

They are almost impossible to exterminate. I remember how, during the Dengue epidemics in 2007, the entire Paraguayan army + numerous volunteers dripped paraffin (US: kerosene) into every little tin (can), bottle cap and folded leaf they could find.

They stopped the Dengue epidemics from becoming a pandemics, but of course the Aedes mosquitos survived in large numbers.
