    Mexico can afford to say whatever it likes at the moment.

    I suspect that will change dramatically if / when Trump gets the presidency.

    Just imagine the pressures that will be put on all the American companies 'working' in Mexico to 'have a word' with the Mexican Pres.

    If Mexico stopped the Central Americans at their southern border that would solve 90% of the illegal immigration problems the USA is currently having. It's not really Mexicans that are the problem. The USA is overrun with Central Americans with no education and having babies to get to become citizens.

    I think there will be massive changes to the immigration policy no matter who is elected. Changing the policy of allowing non-citizens offspring to become citizens would be first on the list. The current “law” is a misinterpretation of the constitution that happened in the 1950s that needs to be re-interpreted correctly.

    The 14th Amendment, Section 1, Clause 1 states:
    “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

    Hard to see room for any interpretation which would allow for denial of citizenship to Americans. But, beyond the Amendment, 'jus soli' is a key component of American Exceptionalism. It is the law in every American country and even in Canada, a British country. The US fought and won two wars against the British partially in support of this principle. And now, in order to make the US safe for fat, balding, old white men you want to abandon American Exceptionalism. You want to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Typical of you wingnuts!

    Birthright citizenship is as American as apple pie (and feijoada). For this reason it will not, and cannot, be nullified!

    11. You may want to do a little research before you post next time.

    The clause will be re-interpreted in the next administration by SCOTUS so there's a final ruling. It was never meant to include children born to illegals.

    I have no doubt that there exists a number of conspiracy theories that state that the 14th Amendment does not mean what it states. Most probably these theories are stated in the same places as those that claim that President Obama was born in Kenya. But I would not dignify finding these tomes of wingnut hand wringing by referring to the process as “research”. A better verb is dumpster diving.

    The 14th Amendment exists, and will continue to exist, despite the loony tunes that you wingnuts like to promulgate.

    Interestingly last week I happened to catch the DR show in which the large number of English illegal immigrants in FL was mentioned. I suppose that a few of the posters on this board would be adversely affected if ICE was to start enforcing the law against these people.

    I find it highly unlikely that any illegal immigrants living in the USA are anywhere near posting on an insignificant site like MP, Unless you are one of the Hep C.
