Senior judges in Brazil voiced concern over the detention of former President Lula da Silva, even as they threw their support behind the sweeping corruption investigation that threatens to topple his embattled successor. Lula’s three hours of questioning in police custody on Friday was the highest profile development in the two-year probe focused on state oil firm Petrobras. Read full article

A willingness to increase Democracy, and is now facing-up to its many societal issues, because everyone wants to achieve higher standards!
They aspire to western ideals.
Long path ahead, but so many are willing.
Totally different culture than others in the 'so-called' brics.,,,,
I wish them well.
#1 There never was a BRICS alliance, just a small group of countries seeing increased economic and social growth at the same time, who felt the old order wielded too much power and mildly upset at not having what they perceived as their share.

The brief detention of 70-year-old Lula, Brazil’s first working-class president and a hero to millions of Brazilians shocked many in the country

Mujica is the same other than he never really increased his personal wealth, just flew around the country in his mate's plane, the same character who benefitted by U$S40M of government money for his fish processing plant which he then closed. Not to mention the plethora of other crooks appointed to 'rule' government monopolies.
It must be a Latam thing.
I just love the statement Even Justice Mello, who was critical of Lula’s arrest, said the evidence uncovered by prosecutors was “very serious” and deserved further investigation. Clearly the prosecutors in Brazil are not afraid of the 'Nisman' effect.
“evidence is very serious”:

No-one used force against the 9-fingered toad.......this version of 'violence' is just bs invented by the PT leadership in order to make the LulaRat appear to be a victim - which he is not. The PT (and the fat cow) claimed he had never refused to cooperate in full, but his lawyers tried to get him two 'habeas corpus', which if conceded would exempt him from personal deposition, and he even went as far as saying if they summon me I will not go......and there is a video circulating on the internet, in which he is caught saying (referring to the prosecutors), loud and clear, eles que enfiem esse processo no cú....or, they can shove this investigation up their ass ! ......does that sound like someone ready to cooperate ??
