Everything that Prat-Gay touches turns into inflation. It's a sort of Argentine Midas Touch.

2016: the year of the 50 percent inflation.

This, off course, is part of the “Joyful Revolution” promised by president Mauricio Macri during his election campaign.
But wait--there is more. The billionaire payment to the vultures is just a first step towards massive borrowing that will, again, mortgage Argentina's future.
Of course, Macri spoke about joy--but forgot to say the joy was just for a selected few--ask his friend Nicolás Caputo, who just got another juicy contract to build an atomic power plant.

You borrow money, you pay it back.

    It's really very simple.

Even some Argentines can be made to understand the concept.

I wouldn't worry too much about a bit of borrowing by Argentina in the near term. Think of it as the third or fourth restructuring of the same old debt, and a prelude to the next default. Coming soon.

    Enrique

Inflation is a lagging indicator. It is an indicator of PAST decisions. So you can't blame the current government for all the inflation.

Much of this inflation is the leftover from your beloved high spending and wasteful CFK.

I know you dislike Macri so it will be fun to watch you cherry pick statistics and problems over the next 4 years.

The biggest source of inflation is funding the budget deficit through the printing of money. Once that stops as Argentina can fund it through debt then inflation will drop. I know you will see this as a failure becasye debt will increase however that is blaming the symptom not the cause.... a bloody big budget deficit.

And you can thank Cristina for that.

    @2 Enrique,

    What a hypocrite!

You were quite alright with CFK stiffing Western creditors and pensioners for money borrowed previously. When the creditors refused to accept that Arg was simply keeping 70% of the money, and retaliated by refusing further credit - you were happy to point out that China would be a trading partner.

CFK set up deal where China would provide industrial and transportation infrastructure, and money, in echange for future resources etc. - in other words, CFK borrowed from China and put off payment to the future generations.

Now you criticise Macri for soliciting loans...

Speaking of CFK and where the corrupt money went .... looks like the noose may be getting a little snugger

Predictably, the reaction of the peanut gallery is to jump to Macri's defense, even if ultimately they couldn't care less about Macri, Cristina or the “argies” as they like to say.
But wait. Macri has gone too fast, too deep with his massive redistribution of income in favour of those who already have it.
However, you can blame Argentines for many things but not for being passive.
And after the Won Decade, Argentines will be a bit less patient than in the past.
It's regrettable that the population needs to go through this, but no doubt there will be a reaction when Macri's measures begin to be felt more fully.

    7. Won Decade?

    Are you stupid or crazy?

Other than the Kirchner Friends and Familiy nobody else could say they're better off after their decade of destruction.

    Won Decade?

    Bahahahahaha

Only Argentineans who escaped to economically sound countries won the past decade. Not the ones left behind.

@7 ....his massive redistribution of income ....“

Funniest/silliest post for a long time.

Oh, wait.... reducing subsidies for those most able to pay for utilities while providing publicly funded utilities for lower income residents is now ”massive redistribution of income....“

Don't forget that Argentina still has the prize for ”Worst Place in the World for Foreign Companies to Do Business.” Brought to us by the Kirchners.

You don't need to keep reconfirming on every post that you have never set foot in the country. You have told us many times already. We know.

    @13 Skip

There used to be lots ofbTroll posts referencing Denmark, and Danish info sources.

“Think” and Stevie's predecessor, “Guzz”, both come to mind.

Many of the Communists and Tupas thrown out of SA by Operation Condor in the 70's, went first to France.

From there, they went to other places in Europe, and some even went to Canada.

It appears that many carried their baggage when they moved permanently.

Your CommentTobi de Nostril, you're a fucking classic twit! You talk of Skip never stepping foot in Argentina, yet, you're in the same box. Can we talk details in Argentina, about sites that are not on the web to be googled?

The Mall's Starbucks facade, the 2nd mall just outside of the city?

Have you ever ID'ed that intersection in Mendoza when the farmers were protesting almost two years ago?

    Tobi, the joke of MP.

Oh one other thing Tobi.........how did your autarky turn out?

Poor tobi, the biggest liar on MP!!!

The damage that Macri's policies are inflicting on the country are already visible, but will become more apparent as time goes by.
The effects of devaluation, the elimination of the “retntions” on exported agro products and the opening of imports will sink the country into a horrendous recession.
Rivers of tears will run, mostly from those who believed in Macri and his friends.

Yes yes Enrique the place is falling apart. Lucky you escaped.

I 100% guarantee Argentina will be a better place at the next presidential election than it was at the last. Lower inflation, higher growth, lower crime and more reliable statistics.
