Argentine ex president Cristina Fernández addressed thousands of militants that rallied outside Buenos Aires City main courthouse building where earlier in the day she testifies on the dollar future probe conducted by a Federal Judge. Read full article

Apr 14th, 2016 - 05:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Earlier in the day Cristina Fernández showed up at the courthouse to be questioned by Federal Judge Claudio Bonadio in the investigation into the sale of dollar futures. The former president did not answer questions and presented a written statement ...
Apr 14th, 2016 - 05:52 pm - Link - Report abuse 0So, she arrived for questioning and refused to answer any questions. Why not? If she was innocent she'd have no problem answering any questions with the truth. A refusal to answer questions sounds suspicious to me.
Macri was happy to answer questions about his personal finances and yet she refuses. Is this contempt of court? Even if it isn't she's had an opportunity to defend herself and hasn't taken it. The written statement doesn't appear to answer any of the questions that might be asked of her. It is just a whinge about how she thought she was immune, how unfair it all is and how she isn't afraid. It is like a child being caught with his hand in the cookie jar. But I thought I was allowed to take the cookies! I'm not? That is so unfair! I don't care, I've eaten the cookies now so I don't care if you put me on the naughty step!
I think there will be a few more tantrums...
Wow. What a sight yesterday. Stripped of formal powers, under threat of being handcuffed and thrown in jail at any time, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has revealed her full stature as a politician.
Apr 14th, 2016 - 07:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Macri's imagined humilliation of CFK turned into a fiesta popular, a new communion between a leader and her people.
She knows it's not about her. By choosing not to have any elective position that would shield her from judiciary prosecution, Cristina has put herself on the line--she knows the Griesas and the Bonadios of this world can only bite her heels as she continues along her path.
Poor Macri. He must be regretting to have disturbed CFK from her Calafate retirement. And what a speech she made! Almost an hour of neatly put concepts. He could die, be born again, and still be unable to produce anything remotely comparable.
My advice to MP commentators? Wake up--and smell the roses. Leaders like Cristina--or Bernie Sanders, for that matter--come up only once in a lifetime.
The underlying meaning of La Kretina's speech ? You'll never get me, I'm above the Law....that filthy attitude is what has f*cked /is still f*cking Latrine America.

I'm sure that no one wants to see Cretina indicted less than Macaroni.

If she isn't found guilty her actions are vindicated.

Enrique,
She is not a martyr or a saint.
We have seen her stature as a politician. The majority of Argentinians were unimpressed - it was very low.
@15 Comic
If she's convicted they have a martyr.
If she isn't found guilty her actions are vindicated
If she is not investigated and prosecuted at the earliest opportunity, it is a sign of weakness of the new government that campaigned on a platform of reform and anti-corruption.
She is NOT above the law, no President is, and this must be demonstrated.
Leaving her alone would have been a mistake.
@11 Enrique,
Leaders like Cristina--or Bernie Sanders, for that matter--come up only once in a lifetime.
Nonsense, we see these petty Dictators like CFK all the time. They fill their pockets and lie to the populace. They try to create a perpetual-term dynasty to avoid prosecution, just as she did.
It usually ends badly for them when people get wise and then upset.
Let her answer charges in Court, rather than her mob of paid La Campora 'protestors'.
Bernie Sanders is a different case. He has integrity and cares for the people.

Is it normal to set up a stage outside a courthouse after being summoned to answer questions and then berate the government and judiciary? I cannot believe it, do they not need a licence to hold a political rally in such circumstances. I thought she was to be questioned. So in Argentina you can refuse to answer questions being asked by a judge simply by writing a statement. No wonder Argentina is the arsehole of the world, quite topsy turvey No?

You can't be serious.
There are three Barnes & Noble stores in Seattle, alone. I have been to two of them.
There is one near Sacramento California, on Sunrise Blvd. where I spend a lot of time each time I visit.
For those who don't know, they are huge stores with many titles, fiction and non-fiction, a huge variety of periodicals, national and international newspapers, and the obligatory Starbucks.

So much for Macri's supposed democratic reforming” credentials, in just the last few weeks he's banned Telosur, been caught out in the Panama Papers and is trying to jail his predecessor and most effective opposition leader. So appropriate that this courtcase came the same day of the final deal with the vultures, as that's the real reason he and his ilk need rid of Cristina, who'd win the next election by a mile if it were to be held now. Apr 23rd, 2016 - 06:23 pm - Link - Report abuse -1CFK and her puppet Scioli were defeated by a majority vote of ordinary Argentines because she let the Peso devalue by nearly 3 times, people living in poverty was over 30% and growing, inflation was at 35% per annum, unemployment growing, Public health care and services were eroding, infrastructure was neglected, and the country had defaulted on its debts.
Her critics and the Judiciary were intimidated by violent thugs and a Prosecutor murdered.
She was perceived as cortupt and hardly a visionary.
By contrast, Macri has stabilized the Peso, settled the Default and is attracting new investment.
Best of all, he is prosecuting corrupt politicians and will no doubt try to investigate Nisman's murder.
Argentina is already being welcomed by other world leaders who shunned CFK as the shrieking crazed harpy she is.
Good for Macri.
