The mega judicial raids in Argentina into the properties of arrested Kirchnerite businessman Lazaro Baez and his family, in the southern province of Santa Cruz, so far have found less cash than rumored but far more assets that expected, including some surprises such as a full size bronze statue of former president Nestor Kirchner. Possibly the plan was to make the statue president in place of Cristina.

As ideas go, that certainly wouldn't have been without merit. Just the savings on the Casa Rosada's medical bills would have recouped the statue's cost many times over.

Plus, statues don't require botox, don't get drunk and fall off tables and can be relied on not to make embarrassing Chinese jokes on Twitter.

A true lost opportunity.
