a sad day for Britain...
The nexus between isolation, alienation and extremism claims another victim. A sad day indeed...

Jun 17th, 2016 - 08:42 am - Link - Report abuse 0Sometimes people who commit heinous murders are just mentally ill and unstable no matter what their faith. Seems it is only the Muslim ones that become terrorists.
I think the very existence of extremist groups spewing hatred and intolerance are fodder for the disenfranchised and mentally ill. He actually shouted 'Britain First”, the name of a far-right group campaigning against immigration and Islam in particular. The group has stated he had no connection with them but there is some culpability when such intolerance and xenophobia is used to stir up hatred.
Jun 17th, 2016 - 09:44 am - Link - Report abuse 0We shall get the full picture of the murderer in time. Nothing will bring Jo Cox back; a good woman. If it curbs some of the unrestrained hatred, bullying and threats being bandied about over the referendum it will be a move in the right direction.
Campaigning has been suspended today. I hope both sides take time to reflect on their actions and behaviour.

For me the choice is now remain in the EU or get Boris Johnson and Michael Gove as PM and Chancellor What would you wish for ? Add to this a possible Trump as US President. Start digging your nuclear shelters.
Jun 17th, 2016 - 11:30 am - Link - Report abuse 0Strangely enough I will not be cheering Mr.Trump when he comes to open his new golf course at Turnberry. For decades I have been walking up to the lighthouse there to watch whales and dolphins passing by. Now the access has been cut off so he is not my favourite.
@6 An American friend of mine described BoJo as a Trump-light. Both know how to manipulate the masses for their own personal gain. As Trump said, he loves the uneducated.
Jun 17th, 2016 - 11:46 am - Link - Report abuse 0@3 Interesting comment. It seems the Orlando club mass murderer was a gay man with countless personal issues who decided to pin his crimes to a terrorist group who would have executed him for being gay.
These hate inspired groups attract the hateful.
Boris Johnson is no Trump lite
Jun 17th, 2016 - 01:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If you listen to Boris when he is talking seriously about a political/philosophical subject he is an articulate libertarian. He and Trump have little in common beyond similar hair.
Unfortunately Boris doesn't have the gravitas for me to support the idea of him becoming PM
@8 I agree with you on BoJo's intellect and real libertarian views. I have always enjoyed his debating style unlike Trump's. BoJo isn't dangerous in the way Trump is.
Jun 17th, 2016 - 01:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0What they have in common is their ability to manipulate to their advantage, as I stated in my previous post.
Isn't manipulate to their advantage the number one underlined in red characteristic on the CV of any budding politician?
Jun 17th, 2016 - 01:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Everyone in the Brexit campaign is trying that.
