“We are a people in our own right, who care deeply for our country and our home. We are Falkland Islanders. It has taken us around 160 years to de-colonise from the United Kingdom, and we have no intention of becoming a colony of any other claimant”, emphasized MLA Mike Summers before the UN Special Committee on Decolonization. Cue the tired, old lies from Argentina.

Excellent speech, makes Sr Betts look like a doddering, bitter and lying old fool.

The C24 are shooting themselves in the foot every year they refuse to visit either the Falklands or Gib. They will never be taken seriously if they fail to do even the minimum required in discharging their duty.

“If this Committee were to visit the Falkland Islands....” 9 words that strike fear in and neutralize anything the C24 has to say.....carry on.
I thought the C24 was about the future for the NSGT's but in the case of the Falklands and Gib, they seem to think it is acceptable to wind the clock back 2-300 years, in order to introduce a new colonial master.....

It's getting boring, really boring, to see yet again the 'New' government of The Dark Country (for that is what it still seems to be) spouting lies over the Falklands.

As for Betts, he really is in need of being shown the working end of the Bersa 0.22 lr rf pistol so beloved of argy assassins, just before it goes 'bang'.

Time to tell the UN that it has no authority over the Falkland Islands. Britain WILL support the free people of the Falkland Islands.

Sooner or later British economy wont be as good as it is now, and then we will see the Gibraltarians wanting to become spanish. Sadly, Spain will accept them.
I would cut them off to hell and let them starve.

If the Falkland Islanders have no right to self-determination then neither do the Jamaicans.

Wait till Catalonia gets a referendum and splits from Spain. Spain won't bother about Gibraltar then, because it'll have less money than now. Catalonia is a lot richer than Spain. And when UK leaves the EU, Spain will not be allowed to fish UK waters, and hopefully all the UK supermarkets will not be selling Spanish tomatoes-that's going to hit the South of Spain hard. And if all the Brits that live in Spain now leave, that's more money lost to the Spanish. Not forgetting that when the UK leaves the EU, which cash cow are the EU going to depend on for money then, to replace the money they will lose from the UK.?Spain BEG money off the EU, not contribute, so any idiot can work out, without a replacement cash cow like the UK to milk, Spain et al will receive less money than now.

And then we can assist Morrocco to get Ceuta and Mellila from Spain.
