Philip Hammond has obviously not heard of self determination, it is no different than the FALKLANDS determining their future.

    No it hasn't.

Should Spain invade Gibraltar then the UK will immediately protest to the UN, and if that doesn't work we'll bomb the crap out of Spain.

But the likelihood of Spain invading Gib is tiny.

So the only LEGAL way Spain could gain sovereignty of Gib is for the Gibratarians to vote for it.

Oh, Mr Hammond. If Spain did invade then the UK could invoke Article 5 of the NATO charter, which would create an interesting dilemma for NATO wouldn't it?

It would also force the USA to take sides, which they wouldn't want to do.

Then the UK could also invoke Article 51 of the UN Charter, and legally bomb the crap out of Spain.

But if you're so concerned, then maybe some of the money we'll be saving from Europe we can divert to building up Gibs defences, whilst simultaneously banning UK citizens from holidaying in Spain, and we can ban Spainish products from shops.

The Spanish economy is already teetering on the brink and this would send them into bankruptcy, which the rest of Europe would have to bail out AGAIN.

And then the British can take a leaf out of the USAs book and start arming the numerous separatist factions within Spain itself.

So stop trying to scare monger the people of Britain. We aren't falling for it. Now start doing your job, which is to start shaping UK defence for an independent UK.

2 - lol. What nonsense. You've been playing too much Xbox.

Arm the separatists. Ban holidays. Target their power stations with the ion canon. Lol.

Did you actually read the article....?
    Especially the bit in Caps...?

Oh, dear. Already talking about bombing Spain (even in jest). Exactly my point about us leaving means we are less safe from war.

Amusing how some are still saying- we will do this and that deal with Europe and so on and so forth.
    Reality is- UK voted -OUT.
Therefore it is the EU -not UK - that will decide the terms of any trade and financial deal that allows UK continued access to the single market etc etc - without which down we go to about 10-12th at least in world economic power.
And that also then means military power as there will be a lot less money to spend on it.
That Deal can be struck- Europe will want it as well - but the likley price will be we pay in a largish sum and we accept EU immigrants- and we no longer have a seat or vote at the table.
But at least we will be free of a lot of silly EU Laws and Human Rights stuff that stops us chucking nasty people out.

“We will be less able to protect Gibraltar’s interests, not to defend Gibraltar’s territory, of course we can do that, but to protect Gibraltar’s interests if we are not in the European Union,”

“Gibraltar depends on thousands and thousands of Spanish workers crossing that border every day and any disruption to that flow will be extremely damaging to the Gibraltar economy.”

These two statements are quite clrear: Live will be more expensive and a little bit harder for Gibraltar people.

    Mr Hammond
    again doom and gloom,

ok we have no control over what Gibraltar decided to do internally as with the EU ,

but as we guarantee her defence and foreign relations,
she will be safe as long as we are able to protect her.

    Mr Hammond
just aggravates the situation, or is that what he wants.

“Exactly my point about us leaving means we are less safe from war.”

Oh dear, showing your utter lack of real world experience again!

What stops a country attacking another one?

The fact or belief they will have the crap kicked out of them in retaliation. NOT an EU wide 'army', stymied by the fact all 27 (or whatever the number turns out to be soon) having to agree on an overall commander who MIGHT have the power to act independently but I wouldn't rely on it.

How long would it take to get this agreement, 10 years if ever.

BTW you and the rest of the remainders nearly took the country into another money fest. I predicted if the result was remain the UK would soon be forced into the EURO and was decried by some on here. BUT:

YES, I know you don't click on links!! As if there is ANY truth in that - how the hell do get onto your browser unless you have embedded the link or clicked on it?

Try thinking things through a little BEFORE you post.

@10 look at you all over-excited and exclamation marks.!!!!!!!!

Why are you so desperate for my attention? You are a sick old man and thick as pig shit. As I explained to you before (I expect your short-term memory is shot) I don't click on links on this site - especially not from old perverts like you.

You don't know how I voted and you never will. But I am sure you will spend a lot of time thinking about it because you are obsessed with me. PERVERT.

10 - please supply a more reliable source. Your link is to the express, a tabloid version of Alex Jones after a six pack.
Its not even their own story, but a reference to a regional German papers' story for which no link is included.
The story itself being about something that's supposedly going to happen at some unknown point in the future.

Merkel says no trade negotiations before the UK starts the exit process.

Would any UK PM have the guts to do what needs doing? That is address the nation, warning the public to consider where they book their future holiday, as flights to Southern Europe could be cancelled at any moment...

    I doubt they have

It would bring Spain's new sense of power crashing down to earth though.

All these interventions are an attempt by the establishment to tell people how really very silly they have been to want their independence from the Brussels Diktat. There is a major effort to try and overturn the result.

Deja vue, Lisbon treaty, where countries like Ireland who voted against, had to go back and vote again to correct their clear mistake in rejecting further integration.

Without Brexit, we would be signing up to yet another treaty in 2017, tightening the bonds even further.

@5. Would you prefer it if we stood back and LET Spain invade Gibraltar. Of course, we may have to. I understand that Gibraltar has already started to have “talks” with Scotland about how they can remain in the EU while Britain leaves. Let's spell it out. When the UK leaves and Scotland remains, a border goes UP. When the UK leaves and Gibraltar remains, a border goes DOWN. Spain already demanding joint sovereignty. During WW2, didn't Gibraltar get bombed? Why? Because it was on the British side. Gibraltar stuck with it. So money is more important than bombs? Time for Gibraltarians to think long and hard. Why should Britain defend Gibraltar if Gibraltar is unwilling to stand with Britain? Do you doubt that, if Britain departed, Spain would simply march over the frontier?
@6. It may be hard, but try thinking about it a different way. Without the EU, Britain is free to trade on its own or agreed terms with the world. One example. Do you imagine all those European car manufacturers are going to be happy about losing their slices of the UK market? The UK holds far more cards than you think.
@8. Depends on what you mean. There WILL be less immigration. It's easy enough to achieve. All migrants subject to the same rules. If they aren't needed they don't get in. We can now make it that there are no benefits until they are citizens. And so it goes.

Come on, you must think we are all as stupid as you on here.

What were your comments about leave and how Camoron and Ossie knew what they were doing.

Camoron only agreed to a referendum because he was really convinced remain was the only choice and that is why he never did the preparation work to at least start the process in a professional manner.

Just look at the unmitigated disaster this clown is making of it now. And you berated 'old people' for damaging the future of the young when not many of these actually voted but are now crying their eyes out.

Yeah, I think we do know how you voted.

@16 You just proved you are as stupid as pig's dribble. You are so easily manipulated by me into thinking something you shouldn't be allowed out without your nurse/wife.

Why do you keep writing 'we'? Who are you speaking for other than yourself? Is that grandiose delusion part of your narcissism?

What business is it of your's what I write, think or do? Ask yourself why you are so obsessed with me? It is a sickness.
