I hear that Saddam Hussein came out ahead of Malacara in the first polling, and he's been dead for years.

It seems as though middle of the pack actually means 8th place out of 12, for Malacara. Kiwi Clark came in 6th.

Apparently he rated 12 votes in favor and he is the only contender to receive no negative votes. Malacara got at least four negative votes, considered enough to sink a candidate's prospects.
Obama's government is evidently not smart enough to recognise that Malacara would be an abysmal choice, but we have become accustomed to that sort of thing.
Called this months ago with the Vegas oddsmakers.

Apparently Malacara's bad showing in the first round is being at least partially attributed to indications of her participation in a coverup dealing with child abuse by UN workers.
