    Why?

Are governments only capable of doing one task at a time?

“Disciplined policies,” in U.S. double speak, means “discipline your population to work for peanuts so that our corporations can make a kill.”
Times change but U.S. outlook on L.A. remain the same.

@3 ” .... work for peanuts so that our corporations can make a kill.”

Must be why so many argentos are interested in working in the US.

Argentina's per capita income for 2014 after INDEC lies were adjusted:
    US$7,399

Median income per capita 2014 for the US: about US$29,000

Under CFK, who was working for peanuts?

Cost for an iPhone 7 Plus w/32GB in the US: about US$770
Cost for the same iPhone in Argentina: about US1500

Probability that a serious foreign investor will consider investing in Argentina after looking at how Argentina is historically managed and tends to expropriate foreign companies and prevent repatriation of capital and profits: laughably low.

Working for peanuts Quique? Do you know what an American electrician earns in a year? A plumber or a carpenter? An accountant? A registered nurse......hell even an auto mechanic.....HVAC technician? DO you really consider those jobs peanuts? You earn based on what you invest in yourself. You invest nothing.....you get nearly nothing.

Now if you talk about the American soldier, airman and sailor who has been exploited over the past 15 years, their job pays shit and works for peanuts.

@6 “Now if you talk about the American soldier....”

A typical US Army E7 who retires after 20 years makes about US$26,000 a year at retirement at age 38, assuming he enlisted at age 18. But he also gets enormous additional benefits, including paid health care. Since he's only 38 he takes a university degree mostly paid for by his military benefits (though he can also take that degree while still on active duty). After retirement he enjoys employment preferences and so begins a new career making another US$40,000 or so a year to start, to add to that $26,000 also received from prior military service. It's rather unremarkable for a motivated former enlisted soldier in the US to be making US$100,000 a year shortly after “retirement. ”

Enrique, in Latam the following is true, “ discipline your population to work for peanuts so that your politicians can make a killing” Never heard of far left wing politicians being poor.

“Lew will be visiting the four largest Latin American economies this week....”

Not sure how one visits an economy, but Lew had better hurry to visit Argentina while it might still be considered having an economy among that top four.

Mr Lew, here is all you need to know about Argentina:

    - The interannual inflation for Greater Buenos Aires from January to June came to 47.1 percent.

    - Overall measured salary growth is considerably less than the inflation rate.

    - The Argentine economy crashed nearly 6 percent in the month of July, which was notably greater than the crash observed in June.

    - Citibank learned its lesson about doing business in Argentina and is further reducing its exposure here. Citi had been in Argentina for over 100 years but had become the target of a wave of anti-American sentiment.

    - The Ghost of Christmas Past just range the doorbell, reminding everyone that another Argentine peso devaluation is in the offing, and the next foreign debt default will be here before you know it.

    #9 Marti
So good of Marti to give a heads up to Mr. Lew.
Interesting that Marti, who until recently was singing the praises to neocon, freemarket champion Macri, has decided to open his umbrella and accept that, under the dancing president, the Argentina economy is going down the tubes.
Marti takes good care of no mentioning the government on this.
If pressed, he'd probably revert to the “heavy inheritance” left by the CFK government.
    Nine months later.

YB you google too much about the military. Of course, you may think that's pretty damned good. Not everyone is a fucking truck driver or a cook in the Army, but most as its about 9 to 1 to support fighters. The one's that actually fight for a living, that money you refer to is shit. Keep reading your sunshined stories made in Hollywood about military retiree success stories. The USA has been fucking the military with every president since Korean war. And most recently, the fuckholed GOP when they screwed over Berni's Veterans bills. If you think people are right after a good 15 or so years of killing other people, you've been watching reruns of MASH way too long.

Reekie, if your memory improves it will recall the earlier Marti observations that so long as Argentina is run by Argentines, and that would include the obviously clumsy Macristas, it will continue to construct failure. Likewise, the trend to economic failure in the form of recession started years ago, long before the INDEC would admit it, and we are seeing a continuation of that stagflation. Oh, and the real “heavy inheritance” is from the regional recession, which though you may try to deny it, is much larger than that of mere Argentistan.

    ----
@11 Capt P addressed the comment to YB but ML is the one who had the first-hand information from the comrades-in-arms troops from the US and UK he worked with whilst in uniform in the wars in southwest Asia and elsewhere.

Let's look again at the numbers: that notional US E-7 with 10 years is making about US$3800 a month for just base pay, plus additional allowances and benefits (housing, separate rats, etc) when in garrison, and that base pay goes up even more when deployed in an imminent danger theatre, with the income then being exempt from income tax. Mind you, I personally don't wish to return to having large and clumsy pieces of ordnance hurled at me anymore, nor do I care to see any more of southwest Asia even as a noncombatant. But some objective assessment of what US troops receive as a total set of benefits/compensation might be enlightening. And yes, I personally knew two retired enlisted US troops who were making over US$100,000 a year, the combination of their retired military pay and post-retirement (second career) compensation.
    From the US:

“With cash allowances and federal tax advantages included, regular military compensation for the average enlisted member exceeded the 75th percentile of civilian earnings. For several years, DoD has stated that its aim is to make RMC [Regular Military Compensation] comparable with the 70th percentile of civilian earnings...”

My bad, it's on the internet, so it must be right.

Don't forget combat and jump pay and overseas duty. It's definitely worth a leg, arm......and fingers for some.

I knew of a guy who dropped out of college and against all odds, became one of the richest persons in the world. Rule or except?

Maybe you should volunteer in one of the VA centers and see for yourself. Leeds is always looking for volunteers. I'll even give you my hat that you so love to speak of.
