At least the Brits told the Argies before we set off any of our Inter Continental Ballistic Rapier Missiles unlike this “Whoops! We shot off a few refurbished Exocets over half a year ago.” announcement. I don't hear Ms Malcholera complaining about this to the world

What is good for the goose...... ?

Did Argentina inform the British forces that missile testing was taking place in accordance with the 1990 agreement?

It's the 'refurbished' part that I'm laughing at!

And, of course, all neighbouring countries were advised in advance! Two faced behaviour! Hang your heads in shame!

Yes the UK didn't make a fuss at the time...that was the point.

And no, Argentina didn't follow the 1990 protocol and inform the UK in advance.

I am pretty sure the MOD knew of this in advance through GHQ and thought it was a non-event.
Better to say nothing and use it at a later date - if required- as evidence of Argentine double-standards.

Let's all go to Belgrave Square London SW1 and protest in front of the Argentine Embassy. Maybe we can burn a couple of their flags - anybody interested?

NO? I think we are shade more civilised than that!

So what happened to the “zone of peace” ? Has that been quietly dropped or are they planning to buy exclusively peaceful weapons ?

Argentine flags are have the blue bands and central p@&s stain attached with Velcro.
No need to burn them when conversion is so east.

It seems as though the actual results of these tests were other than what the argie propaganda machine was reporting.

It now appears as though six were actually launched though there are indications of other launch failures. And rather than one launched-missile performance failure and five successes, the numbers are the other way around: only one of the reworked missiles performed nearly correctly, and five showed failures.

Of course, these Exocet versions are comparatively ancient 1970s technology and modern navies now have redundant countermeasures to deal with them. Perhaps the argies will find the remaining Exocets useful for scaring off errant Chinese fishing boats .

    I like the:

“Gripen fighter which is originally Swedish but without the 30% British avionics component” bit.

This essentially means back to the drawing board, as this would be quicker, easier and much cheaper than trying to replace system by system, where every step requires re-testing and approval.

If you follow the rules that is.

A Brazilian variant Grippen with Russian engines, would even be on the cards.

Don’t know where they would ever find someone stupid enough to try and go up in it, even in S. America.

Don't you just love the joke that keeps you laughing: ARGENTINA!

Have they got any SAA for their fully automatic FN FALS yet? Or replaced the OOD cannon ammunition!

This bunch couldn't fight their way out of a used prophylactic.

As for the Grippen being fitted with a Russian engine the mind just boggles.

Whoever writes this tripe certainly has little appreciation of reality when it comes to modern armaments.
