60 pesos and a nice letter of support from Panamá will get you a lukewarm cortado chico and two day-old facturas at the YPF Don Francisco.

Beyond mere cheap and idle talk, Argentina appreciates the considerable material benefits from its eternally supportive neighbours, such was Chile's stepping up to supply natural gas to Argentina at three times the price of gas coming from Bolivia.

    “de Saint Malo ”

Surely, this would offended Malcorra as the name should be changed by deed poll to Malvinas if she is supporting the fictitious myth?

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Argentina has for the 39th consecutive year won the International Crybaby Award (known in Spanish as the Premio Internacional al Más Llorón) for its unparalleled performance in the imaginary Malvinas category.

The coveted Premio Internacional al Más Llorón is given annually to that state which best presents “annoying, petulant adolescent behaviour in wholly chimerical and extravagantly mendacious pursuits as might befit a spoilt 12-year-old.”

In this year's consideration the United States posed fierce competition following the post-elections whinging campaign, but was ultimately beaten down by the sheer magnitude and heavy official funding for Argentina's shrill and persistent game.
