Brazil and Argentina foreign ministers agreed on Thursday in Brasilia that Mercosur must open to the world and expand its trade horizons, but it will have to be done without Venezuela which has been currently “ceased” from the block. The irony. Now that Mercosur is ready to open up, the EU, North America, Britain, China, etc are ready to close up.

The boys that brought the free trade ball now suddenly don't like the game anymore (in the past they could just sell to Mexico, China, South America, etc, but now they don't like it those places want to sell stuff back to them!), so they want to pick up the ball and go home like perfect little crybabies.

That's not really a good analogy. It was only under Kirchnerism you witnessed isolationism and liked it. In fact their trade restrictions were more about a knackered economy than not wanting to trade internationally.

The U.K. does not want to close off to the world at all and will probably have even more trade agreements. As for the U.S., they import so much from abroad because the consumer wants cheap products. I doubt they will be singing the 'bring jobs home' when they have to pay three times as much for goods and can't afford them. Remember, what Trump said and what he will do are not the same thing.

“Open Mercosur to the world and expand trade horizons”: Impressive indeed but are the words going to be backed by the right steps & actions? Believing in the Corrupt Politicians is getting to be more and more difficult!
