Germany’s anti-immigrant party led a populist chorus from around Europe in pinning the blame for the Berlin truck attack on the policies of Angela Merkel. The Chancellor's acceptance of more than a million Middle Eastern refugees last year set the scene for an Islamist massacre on German soil, Alternative for Germany (AfD) claimed. Read full article

    No one is trying to provoke a cultural war. If you sincerely cared about cross-cultural tumult, you never would have let all those non-Germans into your country. The immigrants are wanted in Germany by the left, despite the huge cross-cultural costs, because they want the immigrants' votes, that's the only reason. No matter the ensuing chaos.

    Merkel is to blame for the recent terrorist attack in Berlin. And citizens of Germany are allowed to say so.

    What Merkel did was reckless and way irresponsible. It is the left in Germany that is being blind and blindly supporting immigration.

    Being kind in life is really important, but if your people are going to get killed for it, you should should practice some other type of kindness.

    In that photo, doesn't Merkel look a great deal like this famous world leader?

    @bushpilot
    Actually Merkel's party is considered centre-right in Germany, so don't blame the left. And I am not convinced that the new immigrants will be especially likely to vote for the Christian Democratic Union if and when they become citizens.

    I suspect the desire for immigrants has more to do with the low birthrate and ageing population in Germany, combined with a certain lingering guilt. Or maybe they really are Christians, I seem to recall something about loving your neighbour as yourself?

    But in any case I think the criticism is still valid. And I think the chances they'll be able to persuade any other EU countries to take in asylum seekers just fell to zero.
