We can use some of those out on Lake Champlain, the nasty shit is coming through Canada via Champlain and using the very accessible rt91 corridor. It seems to be unstoppable these days.....heroine that is, even in the little backwooded towns, everyone has a junkie and homeless problem, it's not just an urban problem anymore.
@B ...does Argentina have millions of spare cash then,..
It's all borrowed. Recently added debt. Once Argentina settled with the big bondholders earlier this year and started getting loans again, it just couldn't stop borrowing. Even though they're paying big interest, they seem to be doing a new dollar or euro loan every week. Serious increase in debt, much of it to pay off other debt and you know how well that works.
Between April and the end of October last year I think there was nearly US$50 billion in new debt. And that's just the national government. Add to that the debt issued by the provinces and municipalities. Biggest new-debt party in Argentine history. Public debt in Argentina is now more than 54% of Gross National Product and the country remains in recession. As the AR peso loses value it's going to be harder to pay dollar and euro debt. All that talk about a big increase in the Central Bank reserves? It's all .....debt.
It's not likely your country has to update its debt-default plans every few weeks. And isn't most of that debt held by your own residents rather than foreign creditors?
5.5 trillion is intra-government holding with the balance as publicly held debt, of which over 6 trillion is foreign held. To me, call me conservative in this stream but debt is debt.
The irony we will see over these next two years are in the GOP sector with the budget and debt hawks backing down and watching the debt and budget deficit explode. It will be interesting to watch this 10 ring circus and see how many times the GOP shoots their feet. Day one was fun with attempting to eliminate the independent ethics committee. They will still attempt to get that damned fox standing watch over the chicken coop without someone watching the fox.
Are there any actual Americans here who lived through the Reagan years and his scandals? Googling doesn't count for the pretend estadounidenses.

Kind of like my country's 20 trillion soon to be 30 to 35 trillion in less than 4 years.
