The governments of the Falkland Islands and Argentina have regretted and repudiated damaging actions at the Argentine cemetery in Darwin, while an investigation into the vandalizing has been launched by the Falklands Royal Police, RFIP. Read full article

Disclaimer & comment rulesFar better to complain to the FALKLANDS government. The UK will merely ask the FALKLANDS government to look into it, but wait they are already doing that. Another excuse for Argentina to bring up the FALKLANDS dispute.Anyway IF they are so concerned they ( the Argies ) should pay for bullet proof glass to protect their Virgin of Lujan( virgin, what in Argentina what a joke )
Jan 25th, 2017 - 10:06 am - Link - Report abuse +3Just a bit unusual though that now on both occasions of damage - it happens in the week when Argentines are visiting using the Rio Gallegos flight connection?
Jan 25th, 2017 - 11:04 am - Link - Report abuse +6One does wonder who has/is doing it in order to cause problems for who? One wonders if the are any names the same on both visitor occasions?
Totally Despicable action anyway.
Caretaker? -Must be first time he has visited there for 18months or so! - even the British Veterans comment on the untidy mess and unkempt shambles with weeds all over the graves.
Vandalism in cemeteries anywhere in the world is an intolerable disgrace, whatever the circumstances and whoever the perpetrators.

Just like in 2012...
Just a suggestion to the FIG(leaf) &/or the RFC...
An easy (and cheapo) way to avoid any of these quite embarrassing episodes would be to install one of these on top of a sturdy steel pole...:

Don't you Think...?
Who's doing this? Get a flaming camera as stated above. I'll bet it's a false flag. Either that or some 'journalist' ......
Jan 25th, 2017 - 12:12 pm - Link - Report abuse +4Getting a camera actually sounds like a good idea, as it's happened twice now. Or install a hidden one and catch the culprit.

Jan 25th, 2017 - 03:48 pm - Link - Report abuse -7It is the Police that should find out who did it. No one to blame. I would repudiate such a fact if it had happened in a cemetery where English soldiers were buried. It does not matter to which nation a soldier has belonged and died in action. They deserve respect.

Always refreshing reading a witty comment in this “Sea of Turnipidity” that MercoPress, all too often, becomes…….
Very “British Navy” to blame the “Royal Army” of all nastiness in the World…………., but......
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t them……….................…. not this time!
All “evidence” (based on loose rumors, overheard at the pub, late at night) seems to point toward a couple of not so young civilian males as our valiant local heroes…………
Let's hope that the Royal Malvinas Constabulary have more ”luck” with this case than with the “Total Disappearance” of Royal Marine Alan Addis……………….
I wager 100 Pesos to anyone that they won’t……………..

What voicey really meant was a reference to only argie villages, cities, slums, whatever, and the whole refrano runs as follows:

Ask yourselves who profits from this act of vandalism, It's certainly not the islanders as they know that the disgusting country called Argentina will make political capital out of it like they are doing at this precise moment. It's also quite funny that this has happened twice now 2012, now 2017 and both times it coincides with a group of disgusting Argentine individuals that rampage all over the islands who come just to cause trouble and have no respect for any of the islanders. Yes both times that this has happened they have been on the islands. It's about time the FIG grew a pair and made this bunch of Arginine cretins persona non grata.
Jan 26th, 2017 - 10:51 am - Link - Report abuse +5Is the cementery Argentinas responsibility or the FALKLANDERS?. I understood that the said cementery is a little part of Argentina or so it is claimed. Anyone know the answer? If it is Argentine then no way is a camera going to be installed as they do not want to incriminate one of their own now do they?
Jan 26th, 2017 - 11:15 am - Link - Report abuse +1Install a good high chain-link fence topped with razor wire and let no-one in, ever. Let the weeds grow. Think of it as just another left-behind argie minefield. Problem solved.

The most amusing thing on Mercopress is Thinks efforts at coloquial English. Manages to make himself sound like a second rate version of Arthur Daley, but not quite making it. Perhaps the Argentinian equivalent is a horsemeat salesman? The giveaway is that you know you can never trust anything he says and if you swallow it whole you are sure to end up disappointed.
