The much publicized and controversial bid from an Argentine group to acquire a leading position in the Falkland Islands Holdings, which owns the Falkland Islands Company, closely linked to the Islands' history and economy, has been considered “a real hazard” by FIH directors. Read full article

Nothing really fishy 'ere. What Sr. Elsztain really wants is to own Momart (pronounced marm art) and its Royal Warrant. Or an invitation to Buck House for a garden party. Or for Trooping the Colour. Or to replace Spotty Rowlands as best friend of “Air Miles Andy”. Or to cut Pompey off from Gosport - that'll teach em for sending a Task Force in 82. Got nothing at all to do with a back door entry or Rafael's development of the air defence system, honest.

Something very fishy here. A picture of Captain Birdseye, references to the Gay Enterprise that used to ply its mission around Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent with wild parties aboard. As for back door entry I have heard that's a favoured method of entertainment in Patagonia?

Everything possible must be done to prevent this Argie bankster from buying more shares than he already owns. Blind Freddy could tell you that he has no real interest in the viability of the business. Not that it would bother him but FIC in the Islands would collapse within months if he ever took control. They offer no service here that isn't available from other organisations.

Mr Elzstain's interest is completely disingenuous and FIH's fellow shareholders will all suffer with him in charge. FIC is by far the strongest part of FIH's portfolio and if this Argie bankster gets control, nobody will support FIC. Nothing discrimatory about it.

If you're trying to work out where the smell is coming from you need to ask yourself, why would this guy be interested in FIH. That's the root of this issue. Not how we, as free consumers, may behave if it was allowed to happen. I don't want my friends and family who have serious interests in FIC, be it through employment, investment or pension undertakings, to be subjected to the effects of the destruction of this institution.

Do you have a problem with that?

Elsztain is now considering whether or not to offer to buy the whole of the FIH share capital so there would be no fellow shareholders to suffer. The point for El Think, me and all the other shareholders in FIH is how much more than the Rowlands family are offering is he prepared to pay?

Eduardo Elsztain just for being of Jewish religion is going to be considered an “agent” of the interntational Zionism by the peronistas and other fascists of Argentina. Eduardo Elsztain is going to be considered an “agent” of the argentine “invader” for the islanders. It is clear that dealing with between two groups of nationalistic fanatics is quite difficult and with almost no chances to succeed.

Curious dissembling of language skills here.

“DoD” uses archaic, overly formal, and very pompous, English, whilst “Think” uses vernacular English to be condescending and pompous.

Meanwhile, “voice”, the grammar Nazi, criticises the English of other posters when he runs out of empty bluster.

Didn't “voice” just tell us he went to school in England?

His fellow students must have tormented and teased the hapless foreigner quite mercilessly, as only children can do.

They may have been more lenient if they thought he was Scottish, but life in an English school in '82 must have been an absolute hell for him, having just lost the Falklands War.

No wonder he carries a huge chip on his shoulder and hates the English.

No, not solely for being argentnian, since the argentnians that the Falkland islanders have had to deal with are all thieves, they discriminate against him because he is a thief and an argentine.

  • Doveoverdover

I'm sure if an examining magistrate asked him, Roger, he would say that he does not hold a stake in in FIH or any oil company and that, in any case, his motives are purely in support of national (and soce voce Peronist) objectives.

The holding in question and the potential offer we are discussing here relate to a legal entity registered and managed in Uruguay by a lady with a name indicating her to be of British origin. It took a couple of days to penetrate that loose cover but in the end the Evening Standard under its new ex-ministerial Conservative MP editor broke the story. There is probably more to come.

Some people live for the moment and others take the long view. I imagine Sr Elsztain with his acute sense of destiny and purpose is of the latter tribe and will be more concerned about the needs of the next Argentinian government rather than this one.

    DT
Quite simple. He admitted it when he was found out lying.
Dover over Dover was supposed to be an ex RN Officer living in Dover who was totally supportive of Argentina.
He was caught out by some posters who knew the area and saw through the fairy tails.
This was about 2/3 years ago.

We were also treated to the creepy “British Kirchner” who was supposedly a Scot-(see the similarity)-and again was totally supportive of the Argentine govts. stand on the Falklands.

His Troll character is raised very occasionally. Like wise we have had a few characters who pop up from time to time purporting to own strings of polo ponies, know the Royal family own a Bonanza aircraft in which they were going to fly to the Falklands.

The only common point is that they were a shower of liars.

I am pleased to see that the Arg. camp is getting massive plus votes for every post with the corresponding minus to their opponents.

Just proof that it is a Troll network on here. Are we surprised.......? Eh....NO !

Not entirely accurate but no matter. The only accusation worth refuting is “ totally supportive of Argentina.” It is an error that stems from my insistence in debate that the Falklands is a British colony, an opinion grounded in fact and entirely without emotive meaning. It is not a colony within the UN concept of decolonisation, which is a view not shared with Argentina. Further, I believe that the islanders are in error by not recognising they are a British colony on rightly British territory and will remain a colony until they seize total control and declare independence. I doubt many if any in Argentina would agree with me on that, especially El Think.

    Damn well written document...!

    23 March 2017
Dolphin Fund Ltd (“Dolphin” or the “Company”)
Possible offer for FIH Group plc (“FIH”)

Dolphin notes the recent announcements by Staunton Holdings Limited (“Staunton”) and the independent directors of FIH (“Independent Directors”). Dolphin notes the very low level of FIH shareholder acceptances of the offer by Staunton, save for that received from its associated shareholder, Blackfish Capital Alpha Fund SPC (“Blackfish”).

Dolphin reiterates its desire to enter into a constructive dialogue with FIH with a view to making an offer at a significant premium to the current offer by Staunton of 300 pence in due course depending on the outcome of those discussions.

Dolphin's constructive approach is not new to FIH. The Company has been a shareholder of FIH for almost a decade, which has been publicly disclosed both to the London Stock Exchange and in FIH Annual Reports. Senior executives of both companies have been in communication during this period, discussing business developments of FIH. FIH has never expressed any concern regarding Dolphin's involvement in FIH and Dolphin's support of FIH has been constant throughout this period despite FIH's poor share performance.

For this reason, reading the Independent Directors' unfortunate response, which states that Dolphin's request for information “seriously threatens to undermine the Falkland Islands Company business and the interests of its employees”, not only comes as a surprise to Dolphin but also appears to be... ... appears to be an attempt by the Independent Directors (Messrs. John Foster and Jeremy Blade) to avoid their fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of FIH and its shareholders as a whole. The very poor level of FIH shareholder acceptances of Staunton's offer it is a clear indication of the lack of shareholder enthusiasm for this offer.

Dolphin has sought information from FIH under Rule 21.3 of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers (the “Code”) to help with its evaluation of the FIH businesses. However the Independent Directors of FIH have stated that they are not required to provide this information for technical reasons under the Code. Furthermore FIH's advisers informed Dolphin's advisers that no information has been passed to Staunton or its associates (Blackfish, Mr Edmund Rowland and Albany Treasury Limited etc.). The Independent Directors have also made certain assumptions relating to FIC and Dolphin's intentions, which are based on conjecture. Dolphin can only assume that these scaremongering statements are intended to prevent a higher offer being put before FIH shareholders.

Dolphin's intentions regarding FIH and its businesses are purely commercial and Dolphin has no intention to disrupt the status quo in the Falkland Islands. Dolphin and its affiliates (the “Group”) have decades of successful expertise in the real estate, hospitality, retail, agriculture, tourism and transportation sectors, which experience Dolphin believes will help FIH's businesses. Dolphin urges FIH shareholders not to take any action with regard to the offer by Staunton for the time being while Dolphin seeks further information from FIH and assesses the level at which it is prepared to make an offer for the Company. It also would point out to accepting FIH shareholders that once the 42nd day of the Staunton offer period has expired, being 6 April 2017, they can withdraw those acceptances.

I was wondering when there would be official comment from Argentina and here it is, sort of:

    http://prensa.cancilleria.gov.ar/elsztain-mantendria-la-gestion-britanica-si-compra-en-malvinas

We learn that “The statement added that Dolphin's intentions ”are purely commercial“ and ”have no intention of causing a break in the status of the Falkland Islands.“ Clearly refers to the dispute of sovereignty of Malvinas between Argentina and United Kingdom.” Such insight!

    Just for your kind info...
That ain't no “Official comment from Argentina”...

Ah yes, “sort of” because it's reproduced and by who? By .gov.ar Close enough to highlight that this startling piece of apparently individual status qouism by a notable citizen appears to have gone uncommented on, officially.

Think: “Ostracizing each and every individual that doesn't conform...”

Isn't that your MO? E.g. turnip, squatter, thieves.....

    Mr. M_of_FI...

    1) - I don't recall having ever called any identified Kelper in here... a “Turnip”...

    2) - I do..., generally..., try to engage in a constructive sort of dialoge with any squatting Kelper that so wishes...

    3) - Like in your case..., “my friend”..., even if you just a couple of days ago told “my other friends” in here to harm me by not engaging with me... remember...? ;-)))

    Think...

    1. I never said you called Kelpers turnips, I am referring to your general name calling when people don't conform to your view.
    2. There it is again...“squatting”. Your MO.
    3. I know, and look how much pleasure this conversation have given you.

    Mr. M_of_FI

    1) My criteria for calling other posters something so terrible as 《“Turnips”》 includes their repeated personal insults towards poor me (with much harsher language,by the way)..., their use and abuse of deliberate lies ..., their pathetic denial og well documented facts... etc..., etc..., etc...
As you well know...,(wich, evidently, irritates your spleen) I have had civilized interaction with Anglo posters in here during the past many years...
Anglos that certainly don't conform nor coincide with me views about the Malvinas and several other topics...

    2) Of course there is《 IT》 again...
From my Continental Patagonian point of wiew..., you are squatting...
From your Insular Patagonian point of wiew..., you are not...
    We have a disagreement...

    3) Hope the pleasure is mutual...

    Sr Think,

On this historic day when Scotland starts again on the path to regain its historic destiny as a player on the world stage, can I just say (my opinion is) that those islands are as much Scottish Highlands and Islands as they are Patagonian and that they are more both than they will ever be English.

By the way, given the time of year, will Mercopress run this or similar? https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=newssearch&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwiB3I_XhPrSAhXEC8AKHWbjD_cQqQIIHCgAMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.telesurtv.net%2Fenglish%2Fnews%2FArgentina-Set-to-Drop-2-Million-for-Largest-Weapons-Acquisition-Since-Malvinas-War-20170328-0008.html&usg=AFQjCNEEZzH6MSCPzdl9kuks-bFXglBSug&sig2=6u3Gc9nAhGwnacHUtE_bEQ

And I can just say (my humble opinion, that is) that it would be a pleasure to have you..., Scrooges McDucks as guarantors of the Celtic wishes of them squatting Colonial Kelpers in Malvinas...

And them Engrish can pack theirsuitcases& go home to England leaving them other unhabited Islands and Antarctica to us Argies...

BTW... You can relax... The U$ 3,000 million arms deal with the U.S. of A. is stillborn...
The Macri administration is retreating as fast as them Engrish at Dunkirk...;-)

That's settled then. When the English Empire finally crumbles the Welsh can have their claim on Patagonia and the Scots will have possession of the Fife Islands as they will then be known, at least by me in my expansionist mode anyway.

Thank you for the news that the cash is still strapped in BA. Meanwhile I see that cash strapped Staunton have not upped their offer for FIH, despite Sr Tailspin's statement of intent either.
