Argentine president Mauricio Macri underlined that dialogue will facilitate the Malvinas sovereignty non-renounceable claim and ensure that it is really effective. The Argentine leader was addressing a delegation of Malvinas Fallen Relatives and Veterans, at the Olivos presidential residence on Sunday which marked the 35th anniversary of the beginning of the South Atlantic conflict in 1982. Same tired old dialogue from Macri and Jabba. Really disappointing. I guess it's meant to be a bit of solace for the families of the fallen Argentines. After all it wouldn't be kind to rub it in that the invasion was a lost cause and still is more than 30 years later. Most Brits are pretty ambivalent to RGs except on this subject. Macri is doing his lost cause no favours at all.

    More childish whining over events originating in the early 19th century. The serious nations nations labor on; infantile Argentina cries itself to sleep over spilt milk.

    Not bending over to the UK is not childish. Standing up to big bullies who violate your country is anything but.

    @The Voice
    It makes the most sense for him to say what will please his own voters. The UK government will want to trade with Argentina anyway, and although he might be able to improve relations with the Falklanders, there is no chance of them agreeing to become Argentine anytime soon no matter what he says or does. Besides, as you said it's supposed to be comforting to the veterans and families of those killed in the war.

    Well put.

    When your country bullied 1,800 people in 1982, the UK sent your bullies packing.

    By the way, we didn't invade Argentina, we freed a piece of Britain that you cannot prove is otherwise.

    YOU are the bullies, you were ever since you took Malvinas from us in 1833. And we were there in 1833, and before us they were occupied by the Spanish. The only reason you are requesting any proof is because international law is pure bullsh*t.

    Islanders are right to like Macri, a meek guy who loves the U.S. and the U.K. He'll never do any serious effort to get the Malvinas back.
    However, he clearly showed his elitist stand when he expressed delight when citizens demonstrated in his support (there are good demonstrations after all, Macri realizes) and mocked other recent demonstrations that were openly against his policies.
    “Y no habian choripanes ni colectivos,” said Macri of the “caceroleros,” showing contempt for the sausage sandwichs that people buy on the streets during demonstrations and buses transporting demonstrators.

    @EM
    How does being pleased at demonstrations in his support show that he is elitist? It sounds like just the opposite to me, a real elitist wouldn't care what the people thought about him. And I'm sure you know perfectly well the rumours of people being provided with free buses and sandwiches to persuade them to join in protests; he is boasting that *these* protesters were not paid to be there.
