Jeremy Corbyn was given a rapturous reception from Labour delegates in Brighton as he told them that the party was now the “government-in-waiting”. The Labour leader had to wait several minutes before delivering his keynote speech as the familiar chant of “Oh Jeremy Corbyn” rang round the conference hall. Read full article

    Well, being of advanced years, think I will vote for this guy and leave the foetuses to pick up the tab! Particularly like the rent control plans, should go down nicely on the Isle of Bute!

    No mention of his plans to sell out the Falklands and Gib?

    Can Scotland spare Ruth?

    @TV
    Feel free, although I share your opinion on the rent control. Sounds like a great way to make it even harder to find somewhere to live.

    Is he planning to sell out Gib? I hadn't heard that.

    “Can Scotland spare Ruth?”

    Dunno, but would English Tories even vote for her?

    Its not just Tories that would vote for Ruth its the vital middle of the road voters. British politics is in a hell of a mess.
    On financial websites at the moment there are intense discussions on how to Decorbynise your savings and assets. Emigration is a favourite topic. France is definately out. Even ISAs are in the firing line apparently especially if they house tax free share dividends and capital gains. Landlords should shudder. Death taxes are stalking anyone with any savings. The Trots are putting the wind up the rich.

    LOL, really? Go on then, gimme the link so I can find out how to Corbyn-proof my savings.

    Was France ever 'in'? I think you lot have kind of burned our bridges regarding easy emigration, but never mind.

    @Think
    No comment from you on Argentina's economy apparently improving? It's a good thing if it's finally recovering from the recession isn't it?

    You think that Indec is lying again? Who says it's not improving, Pagina12? Judging by the polls the people in BAs province appear to believe it.

    There are other countries apart from those in the EU. Thats the trouble with our younger generation, no worldview and no knowledge of how things were before we joined. Applies to EU bureaucrats too. Plenty of very attractive destinations. The rich will scarper rather than being Corbynised.

    Argentina has been transformed for the better since the harpy was chucked out and Snr Macri took over. Shirkers and leeches are missing their free choripans and whingeing a lot though.

    Aw, where's my link, TV? I wouldn't want Corbyn stealing all my savings!

    Of course there are other countries, and I'm sure the rich will have no trouble moving to them. Sadly it's not the same for the rest of us poor sods who need to make a living.

    @whoever downvotes me every time I criticise Corbyn
    I'm really curious whether there are secret Corbyn supporters on here, or else what the heck your problem is... so please tell me. I promise not to bite. :)

    DT , savings...my thoughts, - savings could be lodged with a spread of FTSE 100 companies in various sectors paying decent dividends with maximum exposure to overseas markets, kept in an ISA, purchased inexpensively with Halifax Share Builder. No tax to pay. The Corbynistas probably wont risk touching modest savings portfolios. But...thats just my opinion , DYOR! Seeking maximum diversity plus maximum exposure to overseas business avoids the likely run on tne currency plus the inevitable socialist slump. If you were brave you could short the £!

    Oh well, that's just the same as preparing for Brexit then. I've been thinking I ought to get a stocks and shares ISA for ages, since normal savings have such crap interest rates.

    Who are all these wildly panicking people anyway? I did a quick google search and could only find that reliable source The Sun shouting about doom and gloom and the end of the world if Corbyn is elected. If Murdoch is against him I consider that a good sign.

    It's not what I would choose, but Corbyn's financial policies are only radical for the UK. Plenty of other countries follow similar ones and do okay. His foreign policy bothers me a lot more, since he seems to subscribe to anti-western = good, which is just as dumb and possibly more dangerous than pro-western = good.

    The question is why is this piece appearing in Mercopenguin, a British government propaganda organ supposedly devoted to America, South America and the “South Atlantic”?
