Just like over consumption of fossil fuels threatens the health of the planet, widespread use of antibiotics on animals is leading to a health crisis where no antibiotic will be effective to treat humans.
This is another example of how the apparently innocent goal of making profits can ignore overall harmful consequences.
The use of antibiotics for growth promotion is a disingenuous way of justifying what is mostly a way of reducing illness in animals subjected to severe overcrowding and filthy conditions--all in the name of the mighty buck.
