    The Argentine monetary authority gave up on its inflation target for 2017, between 12 and 17%, focusing on the target for the end of 2018, from 8% to 12%

    Argentina's annual core inflation forecast for the end of 2017 rose by 0.7 percentage point (pp) in November to 21%, according to a monthly survey conducted by the Argentine central bank. For 2018, analysts estimated a 14.3% annual inflation, from 14% in the previous survey.

    The number of violent deaths registered during 2016 in Brazil reached 61,600, a 4.7% increase compared to the previous year. This works out to seven people murdered per hour, on average, throughout the country, according to data from the Brazilian Forum on Public Safety released this week.

    The rules for digital conduct to be expected from candidates in the presidential elections of 2018 will be a first in Brazil.

    As other countries and companies such as Facebook try to deal with fake news and online manipulation issues, Brazil is looking to implement rules to reduce the deluge of false stories that could mislead voters. The country's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) is looking at ways to monitor fake news in next year's presidential elections as well as holding politicians accountable for fraudulent digital campaigns.

    US unemployment falls to its lowest in 17 years during October

    The jobless rate fell to 4.1%, down a tenth of a point from September, the lowest the U.S. economy has seen since December 2000.

    The U.S. unemployment fell to its lowest level in nearly 17 years in October, according to data released this week, which President Donald Trump said was proof his policies are bearing fruit. Job creation resumed climbing, albeit at a slower rate than expected, after two late-summer hurricanes hit the US economy, according to the Labor Department’s key monthly employment report.
