Recently pardoned former president Alberto Fujimori called for Peruvians on Saturday to set aside their “grudges” in order to unite against violence and crime, appealing to his right-wing political base two days after being freed from prison by a presidential pardon. Read full article

    Dirty work at the encrucijada. Pardon was clearly a quid pro quo for fujimorista support against the efforts to impeach Kuczynski for his involvement in the Odebrecht affair. For fuller treatment see Economist January 6th 2018 page 8.
