Venezuela: Maduro regime will be a “facto government” since 2019

Academics of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) debated between December 20 and 26 on the constitutional end of Nicolás Maduro's office term between 2014-2019 and propose three clear lines against the question of the oath of office on the 10th of January. The new period (2019-2025) won't be recognized by the International Community.

Hemp becomes federally legal in US; estimates of a US$ 20bn industry by 2022

After years of prohibition, industrial hemp is now federally legal in the United States. President Trump signed off on the 2018 Farm Bill which redefines hemp as an agricultural commodity, and more importantly, removes it from the Controlled Substances Act.

Argentina appoints an auditor/administrator at INIDEP to “normalize activities”

Argentina has appointed an auditor/administrator for the National Institute for Fisheries Research and Development (INIDEP), former R/Admiral Marcelo Lobbosco, who was head of Buenos Aires province ports. During his 180-day term (with a possible extension of another 180 days), and according to Decree 1127, Lobbosco must try to overcome the staff disputes which have impeded the normal activity of research cruises.

Bolivian police colonel sacked over controversial statements regarding feminicides

Argentina's Federal Fisheries Council (CFP) set the total allowable catches (TACs) for hoki, Southern blue whiting, Patagonian toothfish and common hake for the year 2019. The new TACs were set on the basis of the results of the stock assessments carried out by the National Institute for Fisheries Research and Development (INIDEP).
