The figure is contained in a paper on the impact of UK withdrawal from the European Union. It calculates the cost to Scotland of the UK leaving the single market with or without a trade deal. Well done the Scottish Government. Unlike Westminster who refuse to release their report.

Com'on guys, you know the scenario, have you ever known a politician answer a direct question. It really doesn't matter what Nicola says as she is not in control of the facts. I see Tusk has said that the UK can change its mind if it wants to. How nice of him. They ( the EU ) are 1) Frightened of contasion and 2) Their budget is going to have a massive hit.

@EscoSesDoidao. “Well done the Scottish Government”? Off in la-la land with Sturgeon, are you? Try this on for size. Remember “Scotland's Future”? Salmond's fantasy on paper. Have you worked out yet how many lies he told? Starting with the “legal opinion” he said that he had that never existed. How he persisted with “EU membership” when the EU said “No”. How he persisted with currency union when the UK said “No”. What's funniest is the EU proposing to remove all national governance, impose its own currency and “laws” on everyone and remove all pretense of “democracy” and still Scotland wants to join it? Sturgeon can't even run a little minority country successfully. Would you like to figure out how much of a “voice” little 5 million strong Scotland would have in a “union” of 500 million? Have you noticed the “movers and shakers” of Ireland, that happens to be currently convenient, Croatia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Malta, Andorra, Leichtenstein and Monaco? That's the company Scotland would be keeping. And you think that the EU would give Scotland over £50 billion a year from Day 1?

Here's a tip for you. Would you like “independence” and to join the EU? Have another vote. Only, next time, ask the English. You'll be “independent” before you know it. We'll have a proper “wall”, return all “enemy” aliens to their northern “home” and keep all our money for ourselves. And you can also forget all of Salmond's fanciful ideas about the UK assets he planned to steal. Scotland “joined” with debts and land. It can leave the same way.

You are welcome to keep Britain's national debt of 1.7 trillion. England would be doing us a favour by accepting that it ALL belongs to them. It would be nothing to do with us.

By the way, you don't have any money ....only debts.

Remember, politicians lie as a matter of course. Look at YOUR current lot in Westminster or do you believe them too. You probably do.

You of course speak for the whole of England...or the Home county racist nut -jobs.

You seem to be under the delusion that England is a massively popular and revered country in the eyes of the world....think again.

How much of a voice would little England with a population of 50 million have in a union of 500 million...bugger all if they all acted like you !

This next Scottish Independence referendum will have a very short run up. I believe it will be within one years time.
