Actually all England really needs to do is stop their team from going to the “World Cup” but send all their football hooligans there with diplomatic passports and immunity.

Does it make you happy the Russians can murder people and get away with it? What you say was never true anyway, the Russian Empire was always quite powerful, and Russia's still a big country even now it's lost its empire.

AFAIK the qualifying football teams would still go to the World Cup, but not officials and stuff. And based on how Russian 'fans' acted at the last one, giving our hooligans special dispensation to travel sounds like a great idea.

Huh, I didn't know Ian Fleming wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as well as the Bond books. And I did know he was a real spy, but no one can think those films are remotely realistic.

Anyway, by the time Russia turned communist the British Empire was already on it's way out; America was always their rival in the cold war. I was thinking of the Great Game which was long before that.

The question is why is this piece appearing in Mercopenguin, a British government propaganda organ supposedly devoted to America, South America and the “South Atlantic”?
