Influential EU states such as Germany, France and Spain will block any attempt by the UK to remain within the single market for goods without freedom of movement, the Spanish Foreign Minister has said. Josep Borrell said that some smaller EU states might privately be willing to negotiate reform of the bloc’s free movement rules in order to keep easy access to UK products. Read full article

    If they had faced up to the big issues earlier then there might not be a Brexit for them to worry about.

    They also might want to note that events have proved the UK right not to sign up for the Euro or Schengen zone, so maybe they should pay some attention to the problems caused by free movement before that becomes another big issue.

    I wonder how many Brussels EU Beaurocrats and politicians wish that they HAD offered David Cameron a few carrots to offer the British people - instead of laughing at him? Had they dome so - maybe there would not even have been a referendum.
