FIFA says it “strongly rebukes” comments made by its ambassador Diego Maradona criticising American referee Mark Geiger's handling of England's win against Colombia in the World Cup round of 16 on Tuesday. It's the third controversy involving the Argentina great at the World Cup, which he has mostly attended as a VIP guest of FIFA. Read full article

I think I may have accidentally found my way into an alternate universe. Argentina (and Germany) are out of the World Cup and England are still in, it's been hot and sunny for 3 weeks straight and I can't even remember when it last rained, and now Mr Hand-of-God himself is complaining about bad refereeing.

The problem with the refereeing was he was too soft on the Columbians. I have seen games that if the players surround the ref after a penalty, yellow cards are handed out for dissent. Also was the headbutt on Jordan Henderson the head of God? And Maradonna's eyesight must be cocaine misted as I thought the guy manhandling Harry Kane to the ground fancied him, the way he had his arms around him. How this junkie ever became a FIFA ambassador is difficult to fathom out because even Sir Lesley Colin Patterson would do a better job.

“The penalty was not a penalty -- it was a foul by Kane,” Maradona told Telesur.”

People shouldn't be so tough on poor maradona....he was probably do doped-up that he was seeing things upside-down, and thought it was Kane riding piggy-back on the Colombian...
