Under the heading of 'The tiny British island of Anguilla worries about Brexit', The Economist addressed the issue of the impact of Brexit on its Overseas Territories, mainly in the Caribbean and particularly in Anguilla, an island whose connectivity is entirely dependent on neighboring territories from France and the Netherlands. There is also a mention to other BOTs, such as the Falkland Islands, and its main exports market, Spain, 'which has a taste for Argentine squid'. And 'it is not clear whether the Falklands will retain tariff-free access to this market once Britain leaves the EU'. Read full article

The Falklands doesn't export any Argentine squid to the EU. It exports Falkland Islands squid, and it is that the Europeans have a taste for. Some 60% of European calamari originates from the Falkland Islands.

    You should complain to Wikipedia:

“Illex argentinus, commonly known as the Argentine shortfin squid is a species of squid in the family Ommastrephidae from the south western Atlantic Ocean.”

“the Foreign Office insists that Britain’s overseas territories will not be any worse off after Brexit than Britain will be. But for Anguillans, that is hardly reassuring.”

    Indeed.

It is not Illex that goes to Europe, that mainly goes to the Far East (from the Falklands, Argentina and the High Seas). The squid that goes to Europe is Loligo Gahi, caught exclusively in the Falklands zone.

Oh, I didn't know that. And apparently, nor does The Economist. :)

To the porky telling GALlamosa Kelper just above...

As any true luuuuving Kelper knows...:
The volume of illegally licensed pirate Engrish fishing of cephalopods in Argentinean waters consists of ~85% ILLEX ARGENTINUS and ~15% LOLIGO PATAGONICA (Gahi)...
Most of the Illex Argentinus ends in Europe...

    Falkland Squid my left foot...!

Why don't you tell us instead a nice story about those very unique five million Falkland quadrupedal, ruminant curly, white haired mammals shitting all over the place...?

Go do your homework Grandad. The illex goes principally to Korea, Taiwan, China and Japan.
