Good decision. If the government had done this after the previous dam collapse those hundreds of people might still be alive.

By now, you must know that the decisions, plans, budgets & the announcements are ALWAYS breathtaking! :o)) The devil is in the “minute details” such as effective & efficient actions! For Example:
    - The San Francisco River Project [after spending billions during 10 or so years, it is still at the “Blue-Print Stage”
    - The Nuclear Energy Project [as above]
    - The Amazonas Project
    - etc
    - etc
    - etc.

If you look back on my posts on Brazil, I've repeatedly referenced personally spending a lot of time in Petrolina and Juazeiro located on the São Francisco River. The cities are located in an arid region just below the largest man made reservoir in South America. Hundreds of thousands of hectares are being irrigated because of that and the potential for far more is viable with the proposed project.

They produce very good quality grapes and mangos for export there.

The problem ten years ago and today is the high level of corruption and outright theft. For DECADES a new bridge between the two cities facing each other on the river has been repeatedly funded and then the funds mysteriously disappear.

It's not just the PT that's been abusing and plundering the local wealth, it's nearly ally the political officials and government departments.

The dam failure in the other articles are because of the traditional ingrained corruption of the country and Bolsonaro must vigorously eliminate it.

REF: “It's not just the PT that's been abusing and plundering the local wealth, it's nearly ally the political officials and government departments”

So now you know why I firmly believe that:

    # 1:
If you are not a crook, you can't be in politics. The other crooks won't let you stay honest & still remain in power.

    # 2:
If you are a politician but you don't want to steal; you are simply wasting your time on politics. Why else do you think that the politicians fight so fiercely to gain power?

    # 3:
Laws [breaches+loopholes included] are made by the crooks themselves; to protect their own interests & their own benefits - immunities, +privileges, +protection, +exaggeratedly high salaries [You'll also know from the outcome of the much awaited pension reform].

    # 4: The people elect a government they deserve.

Thank you for clearly expressing your views. Clearly you and I perhaps are on different sides of the political spectrum, but I respect and understand your viewpoints.

I'm not proposing a harsh military takeover, because I do do know from my own personal experience that it eventually fails, as Marxist-Socialism miserably does as well. What I think we both agree upon is that the evil crime of corruption is the greater enemy of societal progress.

Bolsonaro won the popular vote on the populist agenda to reduce corruption, crime and economic decline. He has a momentous, even nearly impossible, task of accomplishing that in a very short time or he'll become another failure that it appears Macri has now become in Argentina.
The announcement today of Ford Motors closing and the Vale disaster requires some aggressive changes.

I like Brazil and hope they will someday begin to obtain the greatness that their nation deserves.

The crux of the matter lies on the two sides:

1º: The Politician are eager to steal - LEGALLY [almost]
2º: People have a Blind-Faith in such crooks
= The people elect a government they deserve [# 4]

Money PLUS Power above EVERYTHING = Corruption

You seem cynical of a possible progressive change. Nearly a half a century ago my country was in a terrible state and it just continued to get even worse as I grew up and thought my nation was destroyed. Today I'm very proud of my country's progress and although we have much to accomplish still, Chile is probably the best country to live in Latin America.

Chileans feel we are in near the best we will ever be. Argentinians fear that they may may be true and their golden era has passed forever.

No matter how dire the political situation is in the UK, and no matter whether you leave or remain in the EU, I firmly believe that your country will eventually emerge continuing as one of the most admired nations in the world. OK. I know that I AM cynical, sceptical, -ve, sarcastic, etc.

But although generalized to a limited extent, the facts speak for themselves, don't change & are well-known - like it or not - unless there are some totally different & unknown justifiable explanations for the unstoppable stealing by the politicians and the generous willingness of the population to let the politicians steal, to their heart's content - traditionally, culturally and historically speaking and assuming that not all crooks are equal:

And I can't forgive the Brexit voters for what they've done. Apart from the many, many other downsides, there's a reasonable chance my country will cease to exist in its current form due to their refusal to listen to reason.

Brazilian politicians, in particular those from the NE, have always thrived on corruption...it runs in their veins. While I know that it will never be erradicated, hope that a least for a while, it can be reduced to a point which allows Brazil to spend some of its taxes on the much needed infrastructure investments.
I have no illusions as to the fact that even if Brazil manages to get on the right track, it'll take generations to change the generalized corrupt mentality .....after all, politics is the only profession in which an ignoramus can become rich, and quickly.

As I said, I've spent quite of time in the São Francisco River area and witnessed just a small part of Brazil's agricultural economic potential. If a well managed un-corrupt regional government would get its act together and develop infrastructure investments, hundreds of thousands of hectares of virgin soil with plenty of available water with irrigation canals, waiting to be developed in an excellent year round climate providing needed employment to a substantial labor force.

Posted on “Bolsonaro learning the hard way” & on “Yellow fever warning”.....

    Contn of “Maggie Thatcher's statue...”

Federal propaganda : haven’t seen any more of it, so appears B is treating all media much the same.

Bispo : his expensive lawyers’ fees - “Even if we knew, it wouldn't definitely prove anything” perhaps not, but would provide clues to enable police to dig deeper. Well, I can’t say what went through his mind, but wouldn’t exclude the possibility that some one (due to his claim of ‘hearing voices’) could’ve persuaded him ($$$) to do it ; you can ask questions until the cows come home, but until the investigation is completed, anything’s possible ; who registered him in Congress on the same day ? and, his connection to Wyllys ? Might be only circumstantial, nevertheless worthwhile investigating.

Wyllys : for a while Congress did pay for an armored car for him, then stopped - so he paid for it out his cabinet budget. He claimed he was receiving threats, but never actually divulged even one….

“don't think that's true in America because of free speech laws”…the right to free speech has its limits…’n to publicly incite murder, or racial hatred, does have consequences…here too.
Regardless of immunity, politicians spreading crazy ideas (like AOC) is not the same as using a person's, or a group’s, emotional instability to stir them up to commit violent acts ; Last year, French rapper Nick Conrad released a video inciting the killing of whites… https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-46821421
Altho he claims it was only fictional, some nut case might act on it…He's being prosecuted, might do jail time.
How abt the cases of perturbed adolescents 'n the school massacres in the US ? Doesn’t take much to make some people go over the edge.

“Disappointed if turns out PT had nothing to do with attack”. No, just want the culprit(s) caught. Wyllys is a disgusting, arse-licking marxist......watch https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-46821421 ‘n others

In addition, Heleno did state ”my longtime friend and respected military chief (Mourão), “wrote Augusto Heleno, on Facebook”
By (JB)'chief', Heleno did not mean ”boss”. I'm sure that every one else's world would know that chief means boss, it's not subordinate, or equal. So by deductive logic it cannot mean anything but boss. Incidentally, my thesaurus shows that chief does mean boss. ”chief noun boss”.

Terry the Useful Idiot...or just 'idiot'

BTW, why have you posted your shit under a different thread ??? hoping no one would see it and wouldn't show you up as the LIAR that you are ?

When are you going to learn, or rather, ''realize“ - as you are too bloody stupid to learn anything - that when you insistently post something, whether true or not, you are endorsing what was written ?

In other words, if you keep on posting that ”Mourão served in Haiti“, AND that ”he was Heleno's 'chief ' “, which are both wrong (as proved by links from the Brazilian Ministry of Defence - which is better informed than your ”Jacobinshit”, don't you think ?), to all effects, by passing it on, you are a liar. By insisting on the mistakes committed by the journalists, or the 'professional writers, as you now like to call them, does not make them true.

But the issue here is far simpler....IF you understood Portuguese - which you obviously don't - you would realize the correct meaning of Heleno's FB post. He did not say “ 'my' respected military chief”....just referred to him as “a” military chief....which was what he was (as Commander of the Southern Army) when he “visited” Heleno in Haiti, for 4 days....I apologize if this is too much for your brain to process...

You can try to confuse the issue by changing the subject, but it's not my fault if you choose to believe some asshole translation from one of your preferred sources. You are only sinking deeper into your own shit.

Last of all, your statement (above, repeated incessantly 'n uselessly for the 'n'th time):“I'm sure that every one else's world would know that chief means boss, it's not subordinate, or equal. So by deductive logic it cannot mean anything but boss”

Just one wee problem with your ”deductive (flawed) logic”....While Mourão WAS a 'chief', or a 'boss', he was NOT Gen.Heleno's.

Toilet etiquette ? AGAIN ? you've got 'shit' on the mind...and, let's not forget yr 'sucking'.

I replied about yellow fever on the other thread, since the original one closed.

“would provide clues to enable police to dig deeper”

Agreed. Surely the police can find out, even if we're not allowed to know? They should investigate all the leads, even if it seems simple enough.

I posted the OAS report on the threats to Wyllys on the other thread. Evidently they saw them and quoted some in the report, so he did divulge them. Threats are so common today, seemingly innocuous things like this can earn them, let alone campaigning for something controversial:

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/lifestyle/2018/09/why-this-instagram-post-led-to-death-threats-for-blogger-scarlett-london.html

In theory. The right in America are always lying about Democrats, and threatening them too, but they get away with it because of free speech. France is not so generous, hence that 'edgy' rapper facing jail time.

    “DT
“Yellow fever” : in what thread did you reply ? Couldn't find it.

Bispo : investigation is under secrecy ; don't know what/if any, progress being made.

Wyllys : 1st time I heard of any threats against him, was January 2019, when he divulged /used them as an excuse to justify resigning. Why didn’t he divulge them earlier, as he (supposedly) received them ? doesn’t sound too credible.

Re blogger Scarlett London, a guy called “Nathan” posted : “Instagram is a ridiculous lie factory made to make us all feel inadequate”…I don’t use Instagram, ‘n have no interest, nevertheless, I presume “Nathan” whoever he is, is speaking for himself when he says “makes us all feel inadequate”…hilarious, but totally his own problem“.

”the right to free speech has its limits”…not 'only' “in theory” (when it incites violence), but in practice too, depending on what side you are on…e.g. : remember the ‘scandal’ (repeated incessantly by the left MSM) when Bolsonaro’s youngest son (at a lecture not open to the public) said all it would take to shut down the STF would be a soldier and a corporal ?
    Well, when Roberto Requião (ex-Senator, facing several processes in the STF) threatened the STF (at a political rally with the MST), nothing happened. Watch the video : https://youtu.be/4S_-lhMFjnE ;
Neither when Lula said it would be better if shut down…..a double-standard ?

Regarding your statement (which is not exactly about inciting violence) “The right in America are always lying about Democrats, ‘n threatening them too, but they get away with it because of free speech” - be honest, the Dems don’t lie about the Republicans ? ‘n don’t get away with it ? A recently elected Dem congresswoman, Rashid Tlaib, just hours after being sworn in, told a crowd of supporters, referring to Trump, “We’re going to go in and impeach the motherf*cker.” Not even a ripple.
Imagine if Trump were to call her a Muslim bitch ?
Good for France - a few months in jail should fix him.
