Argentina's historic claim on the Falkland Islands is “legitimate and irrevocable,” President Mauricio Macri said on Tuesday, April 2nd. at a ceremony marking the 37th anniversary of the 1982 South Atlantic conflict with Britain. Read full article
As president, Macri can't say anything else in public because the Malvinas nonsense is written into the Argentine Constitution. The last thing he wants in an election year is to be impeached for treason. For most people in Argentina - brainwashed by the Peronist school system - to say anything else would be a bigger betrayal than Cristina Kirchner's pact with Iran to grant impunity to the terrorists who killed dozens of Argentineans on Argentine soil in the 1990s.
There he goes again:
- smoking/injecting what he shouldn't
- diverting attention from the pathetic economy
- making feeble attempts to somehow remain in limelight
What are they celebrating ? Losing the war, sending unwilling and ill prepared young conscripts to their deaths at the hands of a highly professional and well equipped army. So many more productive and useful things to do in Argentina than commemorating such a foolish venture. Small wonder the country never manages to realise its very considerable potential.
Come on, people. You got it easy with Macri, who has granted the islands significant fishing advantages among other concessions, and gives a a rat's ass about Argentina's goal to get back the islas Malvinas.
Unfortunately for you, the Macri government is in life support, and the destruction of the economy will be giving chances to the election of a different type of government come the October election.
Macri has zero loyalty for his country, similarly to other members of the Argentine elites, and has subservient admiration for the central countries including the U.K.
The legacy of Kirchnerism is that more than 21 million people receive money the State, including salaries, pensions, and social plans. That's almost half the population.
And some of these payments are totally unnecessary. For example, the number of disability pensions increased tenfold under the Kirchners from180,000 to 1,800,000, In some municipalities 38% of the electoral roll is disabled and on benefits. A nice way to buy votes!
If I were Mauricio Macri, I would look with admiration to countries like the UK, too.
Argentine GDP per capita (in 2017 before last year's devaluation) was USD 20,787. The Falkland's GDP per capita (in 2012 before a massive increase from the sale of fishing licences) was USD 96,200.
Correct Britannia, could not expect him to say anything else or less on such a day over there - he wants to wake up next day with his head still attatched! Its more relevant what he does not say on other minor occasions that matters more. There has been some common sense- at least Fisheries Conservation etc is now getting back on track and even a little bit of easing on flights.
Macri of course has to pay lip service to the Malvinas Cause. That is a kind of state religion i Argentina. He told the truth back in 1997, but as President he must say the same lies as every other president.
Spain's claim over Gibraltar is also “legitimate and irrevocable”...
The European Union seems to be in full agreement with them Spaniards...
They officially declared Gibraltar as being a British Colony some few hours ago...
Them Kelper members of the British Family better begin to wake up and smell the coffee...
Simple fact is.., me dear dab..., that the key word in your comment above is occupied
A regreattable state of affairs..., in the process of remediation...
Simple fact is me dear Twinkle...the key word in relation to Gibraltar is democracy, the population dont want to be ruled by The Dons, they are quite happy to remain part of the British family of Nations and Overseas Territories. Portuguese ex colony Mozambique and ex Belgian colony Rwanda joined volontarily despite never having been under British influence.

”They officially declared Gibraltar as being a “British Colony”
On the contrary the European Council is is excess of their jurisdiction, as Spain has refused to put the matter before the ICJ, who does have jurisdiction to decide such an issue.
The ICJ has already issued the following advicement on the issue. So it's a 'slam dunk' for Gibraltar and the UK
TOPIC A: The Question of Sovereignty in Gibraltar
”The question has been put to the International Court of Justice to issue an Advisory Opinion involve the application of the Treaty of Utrecht on the decolonization of Gibraltar and the applicability of the principles of territorial integrity and the self determination on the decolonization.
To answer this questions is important to have in mind the bilateralism of the treaties and the conclusion on another Advisory Opinion emited by the ICJ related to Western Sahara which is that the ascertainment of freely expressed will of people is the very sine qua non of all decolonization.” https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=2ahUKEwjUx7HO97jhAhUDF7kGHR5VBtoQFjAAegQIARAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ufrgs.br%2Fufrgsmun%2F2008%2Fpreparation%2Fpp%2Ficj_RAMOS.doc&usg=AOvVaw2pTPt0T2QPKV2U_yWpvEyc
