Tompkins Foundation donates Chile a million acres for two newly created national parks
The foundation created by the late creator of U.S. clothing brands Esprit and The North Face turned over 407,000 hectares (1 million acres) of forest, mountain, lakes and glaciers in Patagonia to the government of Chile on Friday, the Tompkins Conservation Foundation said.

Venezuela releases US citizen arrested in 2014
A U.S. citizen arrested in Venezuela in 2014 on weapons trafficking and attempted murder charges his family called “trumped-up” was released this week, his family said in a statement on Friday. Todd Leininger, 37, was arrested in western Tachira state where he and his Venezuelan wife were visiting his sister-in-law.
