Industrial activity in Argentina dropped 6.4% during August compared to a year ago and 2.8% over last July, totalling a slide of 8.1% so far this year, according to the official stats office, Indec. Read full article

    This is the real effect of Mauricio Macri's 'business-friendly' government during the last four years. Besides some sectors such as big agri-business, large landowners and those producing and distributing energy, Macri did not care about domestic industrial activity -- well: he did not care about many things. What is really amazing is, in spite of the disastrous results, Macri and his gang were somehow expecting to win another term, and were floored by the Aug. 11 results of the primaries.

    He probably thought the Argentines would swallow his collection of platitudes and cliches -- no such luck.
