Fantasy Dreams in hot air! I like the one about needing to get Arg life standards and personal incomes etc up to UK and FI level first - now that would indeed be good for your population- but might take a mindset change in your politicians and some civil servants.

Islander1 It might take about a hundred years to get to the standard of the UK, or on second thoughts maybe two hundred years.

The reality is of course that many Argentines already have incomes and life styles as good as if not rather better than we in the UK. Take a stroll around Olivos, Martinez or any other northern suburb and you can see them. Unfortunately the great majority of the “rest” of the country's citizens struggle to survive but the “haves” are certainly not going to give up anything - or pay their taxes - to try to improve the lot of the “have nots'. Far easier to huff and puff about reclaiming the Islas Neustras than actually getting the country sorted out. The sad thing is that these incompetent ”managers“ of the country will be voted into power. They will congratulate themselves at extravegant parties that cost more than a year's salary for the ”have nots” and continue to impoverish the country for their own ends. Of course if only they could include the Falklands in the national territory all problems woulld be solved and Argentina would be the envy of the world. Dream on !!!

What it has to do with your Falklands claim Mr Think, as you well know, is that it is far easier to make silly claims about reclaiming lost territory than it is to get to.grips with the very real problems facing your country. You and your fellow citizens seem utterly incapable of realising the potential of your country but are only too willing to rail against the evil imperialists who have stolen your land. The land that you covet is minute compared to the rest of your country, you repeatedly fail to make a go of managing what you have got so please explain what you would do with the Falklands and how owning them would benefit your several milliion fellow citizens now living below the poverty line .

How about forgetting the ranting Mr Think and just give a straightforward answer - what is more important, getting your hands on the Falklands or trying to get over one third of your fellow Argentines out of poverty ? Forget the hysterical ramblings about pirates , why are tens of thousands of children starving in your country, a country which can provide more than enough food for all ? Would having the Falklands put food on their tables or basic medicines in the public clinics, or books in their schools ?

Nothing was stolen from Argentina Think.

Buenos Aires (not the Confederation) was trespassing in 1833. BA was given two written warnings before being properly and peacefully, ejected.

If anyone had their title usurped it was Spain but, other than confirming their claim to the USA in late 1833, they did not complain to Britain. Spain recognised British sovereignty in 1863.

Argentina was not Spain in 1833.

Argentina was never in the game.

Simple enough even for a Scadni/Nordic Malvinista to grasp. No?

Hello Think- maybe you are right in average price- but that income goes to the various fishing companies and certainly not all registered and taxed here. Our Govt collects the Licence fees - and tax on local companies yes - but has all the costs of policing and administering the zone. No reason of course why an Argentine fishing Company cannot apply for a licence and come and make money though?

Many countries make territorial claims. But in most cases they are rather “dormant” and no big issues in daily life. But in Argentina this old feud is still a “priority”. President Macri said 20 years ago that he did not understand it and that such a big country as Argentina should not bother about space. It would be much better for all (Argentines as well as Britons and Falklanders and the rest of the world) if they could just drop the claim. But “Malvinism” has become kind of “State religion” so it is impossible and every politician has to pay lip service to the “Malvinas cause”. A demalvinization process could start with some small steps, e.g. stop using phantasy names such as “Puerto Argentino” for Stanley. But it will take a generation or two before the Argentine public opinion is cleaned from the malvinazi poison.

Here's one Stink, why not concentrate on fixing the Economy and lower the number of people below the poverty line. Those 18.4 million or so would certainly thank the Government for doing so. All the committees and ministries that focus on THE FALKLANDS must be costing a lot of money. Stink, ALL the money saved in not hiring venues where every TOM,DICK and HARRY can go and collect hotel expenses ETC. Argentina is a MASSIVE country with humungous resourses and would you believe it TOTALLY BROKE I hope the IMF get their money back as the rest of the World is paying a price. Of course the investors in IMF are making money but HeHo who wouldn't?

If you Argies drop that claim you could concentrate your efforts on many much more important things. Your country has good opportunities. It is the eight biggest country in the world. It stretches over many climate zones a has a lot of resources. It is not overpopulated and has a lot of space for immigrants. It could be a marvelous country. But you have had so many bad politicians, both elected civilians and junta officers. I thought that Macri could make a change, but it seems all will soonrevert to a more hard-core malvinist regime.

It is only normal that favourite presidential candidate Alberto Fernandez states his position regarding the Islas Malvinas. After all, the dossier got pretty limp under Mauricio Macri's tenure. We all know we don't want the islas back through violence, but there are several other fronts where a firm negotiating attitude can and will make a difference.

“The illegal occupation” If this where true you would be able to prove it. Whereas, at least two presidents of the ICJ
and at least a dozen jurist publications that I have shown, absolutely refute such a contention.

The only obvious possibilities are either an Advisory Opinion from the ICJ which can be ignored or a full-blown adjudication by the ICJ which can also be ignored.

Of course, the ICJ may produce an opinion unsuitable to Argentina's fantasies.
