Argentina edged closer to legalizing abortion on Wednesday, as President Alberto Fernandez said he was preparing to send a Bill to Congress. In a speech to the Institute of Political Studies in France, the President said the measure would pay a “debt to democracy”. Read full article

A law ensuring legal, safe and free-of-charge abortions will go a long way to end not only the tragedy of botched abortions, but the profitable business of clandestine abortions practiced in doctors' offices across the country to those who can afford it.

Legalizing abortions will also end the plight of women who end up handcuffed to their hospital beds while battling uterus perforation, sepsis, tetanus or other consequences of back alley procedures.

Good for president Fernandez for making good one another of his pre-election promises.
