Quote: “The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a coronavirus aid package early on Saturday that would provide free testing and paid sick leave”

Free testing? without test equipment? how is that to be?

The US-americans are beginng to realize that their country's healt care system is unable to test more than - at most - 1/4 of the population. They are simply not prepared for a pandemic.

I strongly disagree with your statement. Trump has made an unprecedented rapid response by deregulating and privatizing the testing process. He's enlisted Google to organize the organization and major companies to administer the tests in parking lots nation wide.

They don't need to test every North American citizen, but instead only those with acute symptoms.

The USA is my major customer and I carefully watch what they're doing, because my livelihood depends on the strength of their economy.

I am so thankful the Democrat party is not running the economy!

“enlisted Google to organize the organization”

    Trump lie no. 12,414.

Google doesn't know about it and has denied involvment.

The company Verily, which belongs to the same parent company as Google, Alphabet, is developing on a smaller website that can visit patients in parts of the state of California.

According to Verily spokesman Carolyn Wang:

”We are in the process of building a visitation program, which can be found at Projectbaseline.com (Verily's Health Website, ed.). We expect to send out a trial version next week.”

Experience from the rest of the world shows that they need to test everybody who has been close to a person infected with COVID-19.

In a worst case scenario up to 2.7 million Americans can die from the disease. In a best case scenario, only about 200,000 will die, according to estimates from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Well 2 week's sick pay won't go far if you do find you develop the illness. As for testing, as there is no specific treatment other than generic symptomatic relief (which in itself is a good thing) then what is the point of being tested?

I think your political prejudice against conservative governments has caused your inability to accept truth.

Although I live in Chile, I'm very aware of the emergency measures taken by the President of the USA. One of the companies owned by Alphabet (Google) is in fact coordinating the testing with major retailers including Walmart and Target.

Today, New York’s first coronavirus drive-through testing center opened yesterday morning in New Rochelle — the Westchester County town with the highest cluster of COVID-19 cases in the United States.

That specific drive-through testing location has six drive-through lanes to handle 200 cars a day.

The medical staff there went to each car, performed two tests per person and then send the swabs to BioReference Laboratories, the research lab in the state charged with processing.

By the end of the month, the CDC expects to have over 1,200 drive-through testing locations throughout the nation.

Fact Check: Trump's Claims About His Response to the Coronavirus:

    Among other lies and half-truths:

“When you say me, I didn’t do it. We have a group of people I could ask — perhaps my administration — but I could perhaps ask Tony about that because I don’t know anything about it.”

The top White House official tasked with leading the country’s response to a pandemic left the administration in May 2018 and his team was disbanded by Mr. Trump’s national security adviser at the time, John R. Bolton.
Trump did not replace them [White House’s pandemic team] in the nearly two years since, despite repeated bipartisan urgings from lawmakers and experts. AFAIK D. Trump was POTUS in May 2018 - but of course he knew nothing about what happened within his administration ... or?

Chicureo, the UK's first drive-through coronavirus testing centre opened in February. The UK has tested over 32,000 people and the US about 10,000 - they don't even know how many. It was obvious from the high number of deaths vs cases they reported in the early days that most cases were going undetected. Hopefully now that the people at the top are finally taking it seriously their response can catch up with other countries'.

It's nice to see their Congress agree on something for once, though. Shame it took a pandemic to do it...

Frankly, the Trump deranged media is trying to demean the fact that the Republican president has been well ahead
    by unprecedented travel restrictions.

Meanwhile, the media is overlooking facts.

httpss://time.com/5610878/2018-2019-flu-season/ In total, the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died. That’s fairly on par with a typical season, and well below the CDC’s 2017-2018 estimates of 48.8 million illnesses, 959,000 hospitalizations and 79,400 deaths.

Don Alberto is a hysterical idiot parroting the media and not intelligent enough to filter their manure.

    https://www.facebook.com/daniele.macchini.52/posts/3395152210500625

This new disease is many times more lethal than the flu, and the death rate will be many times higher again if it spreads quickly, overwhelming hospitals and forcing doctors to leave patients untreated. In Lombardy now because of the shortage of ventilators and ICU beds they are not treating anyone over 65 with pre-existing conditions - things like heart disease, diabetes, even high blood pressure. How old are you? How many of your friends and relatives would that cover?

Besides, no president ever banned all travel because of ordinary seasonal flu. Either Trump is overreacting or the situation really is serious and strong measures are needed inside the US as well.

I don't think Trump has handled it well, and I can't say I trust that our government knows what they are doing either. Last week we had two colleagues visiting from the US and no one was worrying too much, then anyone with a cold was told to self isolate, events are cancelled, shops are selling out of staples, the Americans have hurried to fly home while they still can and today our government wants to isolate everyone over 70 indefinitely.

And we are watching the pandemic ramp up in the UK just as we wait for our baby to be born...

If you need hand desinfection alcohol, but it is sold out:

How to prepare 1 liter in accordance with WHO's (World Health Organization) recipe:

    You need
    1 liter bottle or similar
40 ml Hydrogen peroxide standard 3%-solution (to keep the solution sterile)
15 ml pure Glycerol/Glycerine (one tablespoonfull)
100 ml Sterile distilled or demineralized or boiled cold water
Ethanol 96% = ordinary burning/cleaning alcohol add to one liter in total

Mix the ingredients and use clean spray bottle.

Of course an Opinion piece in a newspaper - written, not by an expert in pathogenicity or at least a microbiologer, but by a Professor in Chemistry - is to be trusted over recommendations from the World Health Organization - why didn't I think of that?

Wipes or rubbing a gel on the hands does not guarantee that you soak every corner of the skin on your hands effectively enough with alcohol-based disinfectants, which is why a spray bottle is recommended.

The number of coronavirus infections in the US has continued to balloon, the incomplete and sometimes contradictory information from US officials has caused panic, supply hoarding and a sense of insecurity.

A nurse who works for a clinic in Oregon told DW under the condition of anonymity that coronavirus tests only first became available on Wednesday.

No tests, no coronavirus cases https://www.dw.com/image/52779825_303.jpg

The number of infections remains relatively small, causing many to wonder whether this is simply due to that very few tests have been carried out so far. South Korea has tested 10,000 people a day, the US hadn't even performed a total of 15,000 tests by Thursday.

Global health expert Ethan Guillen, who worked for Doctors Without Borders during the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, fears the US could end up following in Italy's footsteps. Guillen describes the US federal government's response to the coronavirus as “a failure ... Given the shameful incompetence being shown at the federal level, things could get out of hand, ... The US government decided to go its own way on testing for the [corona]virus with disastrous consequences,”. Not only did the government waste precious time in organizing testing, but the first test kits were also flawed ... The initial quarantines were poorly run and lacked basic precautions against the spread of the virus and led to community transmission.”

Five things I'm certain about: 1. There will be plenty of toilet paper and hand sanitizer to replenish current demand. 2. The actual number of undiagnosed Coronavirus cases in the USA is far larger than projected. 3. Hospitals there will see a dramatic 4 to 8 week period of an overwhelmingly number patients with severe respiratory problems, but will have the capacity to handle. 4. Trump will win his reelection in November by a landslide. 5. Regularly washing ones hands with plain soap and water is far more effective than hand sanitizer.

It is obvious that this Chileno guy with his stupid ad hominem attacks can join Trish Reagan from Fox News, who said “Chorus of hate being leveled at the president is nearing a crescendo as Democrats blame him and only him for a virus that originated halfway around the world. This is yet another attempt to impeach the president and sadly it seems they care very little for any of the destruction they are leaving in their wake.”

Immediately after that part of the clip, she then starts showing clips from other networks where you had Democrats and pundits talking about the dismal response from the Trump administration to COVID-19. Not once did anybody in the clips that she showed blame the president for the virus itself as she claimed Democrats were doing. In fact, there’s no evidence to suggest the Democrats think by any stretch of the imagination that Trump is the reason this is happening. But they have all rightfully called out Donald Trump’s horrid response to this.

I daresay the Chinese government's initial response made things worse, but there's no guarentee they could have prevented the pandemic even if they'd been open from the start. At that stage no one had any idea whether the disease would be particularly deadly or whether it would easily spread. Countries being affected now have more information and should be able to put together a better plan. Are you happy with the precautions announced by Piñera, or would you like to see all flights from Europe banned?

Do you think there a vaccine for the Hysteria-TDS virus yet? It’s spreading quicker than the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

Some symptoms if you are infected with this sickness include:
    – Irrational urge to buy excessive amounts of toilet paper.
    – Identifying Trump as somehow complicit in causing the crisis.
    – Making your own hand sanitizer instead of simply using soap and water.
    – Continually wearing a mask designed for the woodworking shop.
    – Having thoughts that human life on this planet will end in two weeks.
    – Purchasing large amount of food that you have no idea how to prepare.
    – Telling your broker to sell all your stocks because you believe the Dow Jones is going below zero.
    – Finding yourself watching episodes of The Walking Dead during self-quarantine to educate yourself on what your life will shortly become.
    – Identifying with the political ideology of Jeremy Corbyn, Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden.

Tim Morrison is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and former senior director for counterproliferation and biodefense on the National Security Council.

“It has been alleged by multiple officials of the Obama administration, including in The Post, that the president and his then-national security adviser, John Bolton, ”dissolved the office“ at the White House in charge of pandemic preparedness.” He said.

Morrison notes that Trump did shrink the NSC -- because Obama had bloated it from 100 persons to 400 in just a few years.

Under Trump, the NSC retained its epidemic personnel — just merged with biodefense and counterprolifereation.

“One such move at the NSC was to create the counterproliferation and biodefense directorate, which was the result of consolidating three directorates into one, given the obvious overlap between arms control and nonproliferation, weapons of mass destruction terrorism, and global health and biodefense. It is this reorganization that critics have misconstrued or intentionally misrepresented. If anything, the combined directorate was stronger because related expertise could be commingled.” Morris explained.

“are to be blamed, not President Trump” Thats because he is just perfect, and has a perfect family background.
”President Eisenhower had been outraged to learn of the bribes that developers paid to bureaucrats and of the alleged profiteering practiced by Trump and others. Ike called them “sons of bitches.”
As federal investigators had discovered, the elder Trump had collected an extra $1.7 million in rent—equivalent to $15 million today—before beginning to pay back his low-cost government loan. He was able to do this because a bureaucrat named Clyde Powell approved the paperwork. Powell, who had never been paid more than a modest government salary, had mysteriously amassed a small fortune. (While it was clear Powell accepted bribes, the sources were never officially identified.) In addition to collecting the extra rent, Trump paid himself a substantial architect’s fee. And he charged inflated rents based on an estimate of construction costs that was far greater than what he actually spent. All of this was legal, even if it did victimise taxpayers, veterans, and other renters.
Later, state officials called Trump to testify about abuses in another housing subsidy program. In this case Trump had inflated his take from the program with tricks like renting his own equipment, such as earth movers and tile cutting machines, to himself and then charging the state many times its value.”

I assume it’s getting lonely down in your mother’s basement. Take comfort knowing the outside is lonely as well.

You surprising continue to defend a known mass murdering WWII criminal that has nothing to do with the current pandemic, but I assume you’re not taking your prescription drugs again.
It doesn’t surprise me that Trump’s father was involved in shady business deals, but so what? (He was not responsible for the murdering of thousands of Europeans either.

Try eating avocado on toast. Its very soothing for your nervous anxiety.

You remaining in the basement is a wonderful thing for everyone!

I understand your attachment to Trump, you both indulge in make believe fantasies. You are so out to lunch, in your contrived attempts at guessing where I am, and what is my available food choices. Well, eat your heart out as you have performed a perfect imitation of a typical rube. You're the sailor that never came home as you're all at sea.

    “CHILE AVOCADOS...”
Why is it Called Spam? There is some debate about the source of the term, but the generally accepted version is that it comes from the Monty Python song, “Spam spam spam spam, spam spam spam spam, lovely spam, wonderful spam”.Like the song, spam is an endless repetition of worthless text.
