While the Atlantic Airbridge between the Falkland Islands and Brize Norton continues to service normally and is crucial for sending swab tests to labs in the UK, the two commercial flights to the Islands, one from Chile and the most recent from Brazil remain suspended. Read full article

So the British taxpayer is paying for “sending swab tests to labs in the UK” all the way from the Falkland Islands when front line NHS workers and care workers here are denied swabs - why should this colonial preference continue. If the Falklanders want to continue as such, they should be made to become self-sufficient - we should not have to keep bailing them out.

I completely agree with Pytangua that the British taxpayer should NOT be paying for “sending swab tests to labs in the UK” all the way from the Falkland Islands.

Argentina should bear the entire cost and the UK should forcibly seize Argentine assets abroad to compensate the Exchequer.

    ¡Saludos de Chile!

Where does it say that the British taxpayer is paying?

People might want to do a re-think on all the ideas they accepted from Jeremy Corbyn. He did turn out to be an idiot you know.

Besides, Jeremy Corbyn wasn't really a very big proponent of individuals paying their own way

bushpilot - not sure where the Jeremy Corbyn comments of yours have come from. Regarding the swab tests - worth bearing in mind that these, as is clear from other MercoPress stories, are not just swabs taken from Islanders but also from personnel from BFSAI including civilian staff employed at Mount Pleasant. there is nom evidence to suggest in any way that persons in the UK are being deprived of tests due to the very small number of Falkland island tests.

    Me.Roger Lorton...

That's because the Malvinas/Falkland islas are “embedded” in the Engrish defence budget to facilitate the hiding of their real cost for the Engrish taxpayer through creative book-keeping...
But you know that already..., Copper...

It's the same principle as Engeland keeping the Covid19 death toll down by not counting those who died outside the NHS realm...

    Capisce...?

I don't know that at all old 'un. As for methodology, every country is employing a different method. Do you trust your trust your government's figures?

    Well..., now you know..., copper...

And yes..., I generally trust my government's “Armed Farces Offence Budget” figures..., because we have reduced it..., since many years..., to just a small fraction of its “Former Glory”..., and have implemented a Draconic Check & Balances system to protect them against their inner swines...

    Capisce...?

Now I know? How so? You are hardly a reliable source, old man. In any case, what is spent on defending our assets in the South Atlantic, Sub-Antarctic and Antarctica is entirely our concern. And we have so much to defend from aggressors and would-be thieves.

    Get it?

Allow me to complement on yours above..., copper...

    - Indeed..., you Engrish pirates had once so much to defend from them white rowdy colonial rebels and them dark would-be free-men....

-You didn't defend it very well... though...
    You quickly lost almost everything...

    - An historic tendency that inexorably will continue across your archaic colonies in the South Atlantic, Sub-Antarctic and Antarctica...

    Capisce...?
