On Apr 22, Brazil was fast becoming a new coronavirus flashpoint, but President Jair Bolsonaro and his cabinet barely mentioned the pandemic in a videotaped meeting that has triggered outrage and fuelled a potentially explosive investigation. Read full article

May 25th, 2020 - 10:06 pm - Link - Report abuse -3You wrongly attributed it to Lenin.
The phrase useful idiot has often been attributed to Vladimir Lenin, but he is not documented as ever having used the phrase. In a 1987 article for The New York Times, American journalist William Safire investigated the origin of the term, noting that a senior reference librarian at the Library of Congress had been unable to find the phrase in Lenin's works and concluding that in the absence of new evidence, the term could not be attributed to Lenin Similarly, the Oxford English Dictionary in defining useful idiot says: The phrase does not seem to reflect any expression used within the Soviet Union.

Whereas, the term originated in early 1950s America.

Isolation
Because of narcissists’ lack of compassion and their antagonism, as they age their relationships and friendships often falter or fail, leaving them lonely and isolated:
Spouses may have left or withdrawn to avoid their criticism and combativeness.
Adult children may have pulled away or cut contact altogether because of their toxic influence.
Their grandchildren may be estranged from them because their adult children have asserted boundaries to protect their families.
Friends may have pulled away because of their unmasked arrogance, selfishness, and envy.
Neighbors and other community members may have rejected them because of their callous behavior and rude assertions of superiority and entitlement.
Extended family may have excluded them because of their divisiveness. https://narcissistfamilyfiles.com/2017/09/26/big-sissies-how-and-why-narcissists-get-worse-with-age/

I would agree with your overall insightful commentary, except I do take exception about my HIGH location...
The farmhouse elevation is slightly over 600m (MSL), located well BELOW the shadow of the high unforgiving Andes — capped by the nearby Aconcagua mountain reaching 6960m. (As the peak is located across the Chilean border — I literally can physically see Argentina from the farm on a clear day.)
Speaking of altitudes, Madame and my youngest daughter did indeed escape my lack of compassion and antagonism, and are currently encountering blissful peaceful shelter at precisely 3000m. My daughter's romantic breakup has resulted in an emotional re-bonding with her mother. It's a rare opportunity for the two alone, yet completely connected with the entire world.
Gollum is emotionally and intellectually incapable of understanding that normal adult men actually enjoy periods of solitude — and many times, marital relations actually are strengthened by separation.
There is a specific reason why my partner is referred to as Madame DeFarge — because the woman does has a fiery volatile temper...
Although I recognize the horror of this terrible pandemic — actually I feel highly fortunate and although it's still too early for reconciling the eventual death toll — from a Machiavellian point of view — by seizing the serendipitous opportunities my family has substantially profited.
By the way, I don't think that the little Troglodyte understands the origin of what spam actually is — but it's FAR superior to the Soviet Union tinned ham product that was offered with rationing coupons during the Allende administration...

The Democrat party originally fielded some very very dynamic intelligent candidates (something like 30 total) and the final two — were Sanders and Biden. My impression was young progressives supported Sanders and Biden was bolstered by the African American and moderate vote of the party.
One personal favorite of mine, was Tulsi Gabbard although an Amy Klobuchar was eventually a strong finalist that is highly qualified and represents the Midwestern USA that was key in electing Trump in 2016.
What I admire about Trump is he ruthlessly attacks for the jugular of his opponent and the opposition really needed an intellectual agile candidate.
Despite what I think of Sanders as a socialist — I also think he'd be marvelous to watch debating Trump. Sanders has been fiercely committed to the same consistent message throughout his career. He's the underdog with the tenacity that could have possibly even won...

The bad guy hires a scholar in order to cheat in the final post graduate oral exam rematch, and the examiner (whose discovered the cheating) asks a question that cannot be accessed by written reference (or Google today) and yet anyone that paid attention during the original class knew the answer.
It's the same for the creature, who blithely and carelessly posts quotes from Wikipedia and yet really cannot comprehend the what the noted author is conveying to a reader.

As Gollum points out, I spend my solitary misery and silence by reading.

We've had some drama in my family. My sister's new flat in London turns out to be infested by bedbugs, and after two unsuccessful attempts at eradicating them, she has become unnerved and broken lockdown to flee to our mother's house with the kids. She's now fully prepared to abandon the flat, and all their furniture and belongings completely rather than risk seeing the terrifying bugs again. Her guy is not currently inclined to such drastic action, but apparently is coming round to her way of thinking.

The plaster has been applied amazingly fast, with the entire new kitchen complete with the first coat. They will return next weekend for the second application as this cool weather and the workmen availability require it. Moist plaster is a depressing gray color, but it's really satisfying. Monday, the start laying and repairing the flooring — all the same terracotta red tile, which makes it incredibly easy and simple to accomplish.

Your, thoughts, your admission, and your consequence .for our purposes, it is what the speaker can be held accountable to that counts, not what he privately thinks. So anything you opine says nothing about me, and every thing about you.
The Relevance of Intention in Argument Evaluation, Charlotte Jørgensen
Over the last decades, the notion of intentionality has been challenged from various theoretical perspectives within rhetoric and argumentation.(the action or process of reasoning systematically in support of an idea, action, or theory: lines of argumentation used to support his thesis.)
The major consequence of the responsibility condition is that the speaker, because he is answerable for what he has said, may be deemed to act as if he were sincere – whether he actually is sincere or not. FOR OUR PURPOSES, IT IS WHAT THE SPEAKER CAN BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO THAT COUNTS, NOT WHAT HE PRIVATELY THINKS.

Apparently the bedbugs were treated by heating the whole flat above 50C, but the company that did it said there must have been a cold spot. Meanwhile my sister had to take her baby and toddler and leave the flat for 5 hours, with nowhere to go and forbidden to visit friends. We're not supposed to go and stay with relatives either, but if the government can break the rules then they can't be that important...
At least we don't have poisonous spiders to worry about too.

Viña Laura Hartwig is a family operation in Colchagua so small, they utilize a mobile independently operated bottling trailer facility — that bottles their wine. (This service is used by many boutique operations.)

Jun 01st, 2020 - 11:00 am - Link - Report abuse 0Wow, you're right. I just had a look at Ms Jørgensen's paper and she is arguing the exact opposite of what Terry-Bot is claiming.
This discussion leads on to the third section in which I, via a presentation of an ethical standard for rhetorical argumentation, suggest how the arguers’ intention remains central to rhetorical inquiry.
Trouble is, the creature is not capable of reading and understanding anything above a primary school level, so he just does his keyword search and picks out any phrase that appears to support his argument. Even if he could understand the paper, he wouldn't bother reading it because (ironically) he doesn't understand how arguments can be supported with facts and logic but thinks a list of out-of-context quotes will do the job - and in his mind only his own quotes count.
PS. You should try heating the chilli over the wood fire next time for a really authentic experience. There's nothing like an open fire, wood and coal fires were banned at our old house too and we enjoyed using the fireplace in our new house until the weather got too hot.

Frankly, I was appalled with the senseless violence I shared with you on the video, but I was really disgusted by the brutal manslaughter I witnessed by the police officer in Minneapolis. It's confusing to many people to comprehend why the death was caused in a city controlled with a black police chief, a black Democrat party city council, a black city Democrat mayor and in a state with a Democrat governor.
I would also note that although I recognize this type violence does in fact result in part to actual social justice, it's not exclusive to see this type of violence and chaos solely in South America. Obviously, it happens as well in North America and Europe.
On a different thread, I've gone into an exaggerated bitch-slapping of Enrique Massot in the past 24 hours because of his continuous mendacious comments — and yet consistently remains silent about the crimes committed against humanity in Venezuela.
I am blessed with three well educated Venezuelans permanently employed at the farm. She's now working for Williamson Balfour Motors repossessing cars from customers that defaulted on their lease payments. She gained employment by working as an impromptu arbitrator of her (now ex) boyfriend's two BMWs vehicle repossessions, which impressed WBM to hire her full-time. (Alarmingly, it's a major assignment.)
Her ex-boyfriend is of my generation, and was until 2020 a highly successful businessman — heavily invested in numerous commercial strip malls primarily in Santiago. His side business was partnering with restaurant lessee's in his malls taking a percentage of the tenants business. This formula was highly ingenious as well as profitable until this year. (We enjoyed two of the upscale restaurants and were treated with VIP status.)
He's remarkably charming and likeable — the same culprit that convinced us to buy the new apartment in Viña, then his below ours ...and then...against all my protests the one in Valle Nevado. (Despite my business instincts, Madame was typically correct and I was wrong.)
Unfortunately his personal life is a disaster. Not only he's lost his delightful and beautiful girlfriend, he's also reportedly paying altimony and child support supporting two former wives.

Jung connected psychological projection to his concept of ‘the shadow’. The shadow is the part of ourselves we refuse to identify with because we deem it as unacceptable and not ‘positive’.
For Jung, projection happens when we are not able to accept our shadow and its gifts but would rather thing we are only comprised of ‘positive’ things, imposing a judgement system on ourselves we must maintain by forcing others to be the scapegoat for parts of ourselves.
Melanie Klein, one of the founding figures of psychoanalytic theory who furthered Freud’s theories, pointed out that projection can also be not just about denying parts of ourselves but also about connecting ourselves to others in a way that allows us to feel we can acquire parts of what they have.

Gollum, with his slimy, bald head, reminds me of skinheads....skinheads remind me of the Nazis....and they in turn remind me of Gollum.....because, to think of it, they have a lot in common....didn't the nazis, when in Nuremberg, allege they weren't responsible for their acts, that they were just following orders ? well, with Tel-Bot it's just the same.......he makes (a lot of) mistakes, he posts fake news, and when caught red-handed, he claims it's the author's fault, that he just copied what they wrote.
A few examples : Gen.Mourão served in Haiti, Mourão was Gen. Heleno's boss,
Bolsonaro's wife was weak (that's why she gave him a daughter, not another son), and of course, can't forget his obsession with Brazilian toilets....it's never his fault....after all, he is not only a useful idiot, he's the 'perfect' idiot.
Immediately above, he refers to my opinions, as if they were lies.....funny, I always thought that an opinion reflected what one thought about something, which may be right, or wrong....but not a lie. Ah, and an opinion does not need to be proved.
But he must hold me in high regard - which does not flatter me at all - because it appears he carefully files everything I've written on here...he reads and re-reads my comments, gets a warm feeling in his rear, and then proceeds to bounce up & down on top of LDS..
That's why he posts so much of 'other' people's stuff...it's his M.O.
Calling you the 'fourth man on three-man tag team', pretty much sizes HIM up....excluded from all social activity and locked up in his smelly basement.
Sorry, don't think that feeble insult constitutes a 'title'.

Jun 02nd, 2020 - 06:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I just picked up lunch and the local rural gossip from the old lady who bakes in a mud oven. The day is overcast and noticeably cooler.
My old English professor would disagree, but I find it a astounding miracle — that the creature has somehow composed three legible consecutive sentences apparently by itself. If true, this post we're witnessing is actual proof of the famous Infinite Monkey Theorem...
1. I guess its tough when you're the fourth man on a three man tag team.
2. But, you're in the right place along with two revealed fascists and they're ally.
3. But, that doesn't matter to you as you are unable to stand up on your own.
I nearly spilled my gourmand instant Nescafé in surprise when I read the above — and haven't been as delighted since long ago, when Madame taught our Dachshund — to lay down and rollover in order to be recognized with a treat.

Three original sentences and he only managed one without a mistake. Explains why he prefers to copy the words and ideas of others.
Jun 02nd, 2020 - 07:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0But it would not be such a problem if he were merely stupid. Somehow all his mistakes and bizarre misunderstandings serve to benefit himself, and he understands well enough to dodge any questions that would demonstrate his contradictions and hypocrisy. Add that to his potty mouth and we have an unedifying portrait.

As far as what's happening in the USA, this 2020 year is looking like a combination of factors all happening today could cause an economic collapse in my primary export market.
I just read a report from an avocado advisory association that is predicting a large percentage of American restaurants will be bankrupted and the tradional food service chain will be permanently changed. Supermarket sales continue to increase, but if the USA goes into a severe economic recession — consumers will economize in their purchases.
A severe economic recession in the USA could trigger a similar ressesion in Europe and Japan. China already is in one. This obviously will hit hard Latin America!
I should consider reconsider my spending spree, but I'm sticking with the SAS motto of Who Dares Wins...
A lot of people I know are now in financial default and many are facing receivership.
There are large CA coldstorages in Chile, filled with apples that were originally destined for export and have lost their markets. The growers are screwed.

Perhaps you're right, but why would changed necessarily mean that people will stop eating avocados.....no matter how it works, people have got to eat....and avocados aren't expensive (in supermarkets) ...at least not here.
I had plane tickets and hotel reservations, all paid for, for a short vacation in NYC....21st May until today, when we'd be flying back....a disappointment, but had plenty of time to get used to the idea...on the good side, I'd be back here tomorrow, without the perspective of another future vacation to look forward to....but now, I can start planning again, to go when this crazy moment is over....not only regarding the virus, but the protests against George Floyd's absurd death.......just as well we had to stay here.
The restaurants I usually go to in NYC are the top beef places (Palm, Smith & Wollensky, Peter Luger's, Morton's ) and the traditional Italian ones......drinking great wines......once they reopen, don't think it'll take long before they are full again....keeping fingers crossed.

Jun 02nd, 2020 - 11:49 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Good question and I appreciate your optimistic view. Avocados are healthily delicious and have been trending this year with increased sales, as I recently shared. (One expected drop in avocado sales, was a 93% in food-service/restaurants.)
However there is a growing ominous feeling that we may be falling into a deep financial crisis. Sort of an economic domino effect that financially changes the entire world.
Currently Chilean exporters of wine and fruit, that have had enormous success in the Chinese market — are facing a horrendous drop in sales. (As you know, China is by-far-our largest market for copper, which we continue to mine and smelter, but remains unsold.)
You torture me mentioning The Palm, Smith & Wollensky, Peter Luger's, Morton's of Chicago and I would add Ruth's Chris — The only complaint I have with those hallowed temples is their outrageously overpriced wine lists.
I have no doubt, even the owners may go into default — new ownership will carry-forth those brands. (The Palm has just re-emerged from receivership last year.) However, a frighteningly large number of the other major and individual restaurant companies are facing complete ruin.
Imagine the despair of weathering a forced shutdown and then just as reopening seeing your establishment destroyed. Certainly, insurance and financing will help them recover, but for many it's a coup de grâce.
I'm well into a reliably great '05 Santa Rita Casa Real Merlot and trying to decide whether conversing with an alleged Grammatical Pedantry Syndrome fellow connoisseur of fine wine and bife allows us both a premium status in exalted titles.
I pity both Pugol-H and DemonTree might feel jealous and thus increase the status inequality which can result in social unrest. We are seeing too much of that unfortunately in the USA.
All jesting aside, it deeply saddens me about the senseless homicide of an African-American and I understand the anger, but frankly it has gotten-far-out-of-hand!

Meantime with a bit more effort even you should be able to come up with something vaguely more original than that, so put down your dolls, paper and pencil at the ready, let’s see what you can come up with for marks out of 10 for effort and achievement.
Off you go. I await the results with baited breath.

Jun 03rd, 2020 - 06:07 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Hey guys, are we going to stand for this ? We have all been demoted....we lost our titles and were somewhat humiliatingly, all thrown under 'one' name, 'Falangists'......I'm so depressed....what did we do to deserve this ??
Is it because we criticized Terry's sexual activities with his dolls ? did he feel we were denying him his right to enjoyment and self-indulgence, no matter how obscene and disgusting ?
“ex silentio-lit. from silence....it's clear that he loves to copy arguments based on contradictory concepts, which he does not understand, as becomes obvious when two or three posts later, he denies having used them...it's always someone else's fault...the classic Lula defence....(it's not mine....it belongs to a good friend of mine)
Looks like now the bot is being somewhat erratic....it's sentences are mixed up and contraDICKtory.
After reading the first two lines, you know that the rest in just going dung-hill, I mean downhill.
Don't understand why he posts shit in Latin, then translates it - for whose benefit I don't know - even going to the stupidity of explaining what it means - which we all know, without his pedantry - is it to give the false impression he is a scholar ? it's sad that only he doesn't realize he's pissing against the wind.
Chicureo, I agree that their wine list is overpriced...but a their NY sirloin strip is unbeatable (as are their other cuts)....medium-rare and juicy, with a small crust on the top...wines that sell for $45 to $60 in the good liquor stores, vary between $ 140 -$ 200/bottle.....
The 1st Palm to open, nearly 100 yrs ago, on 2nd Ave # 837, closed about 5 years ago due to their decision to not accept an unreasonable hike in the rent...but the Palm Too, on the other side of the street (# 840), carried on. Last time I was there was end 2017....hope it's still open when I go next. These brand names are too valuable to go out of business.

Jun 03rd, 2020 - 06:59 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I'm cheered as it it snowed last night in the Andes. Madame gave me an enthusiastic report and informed me that our daughter is interviewing today for a staff position with the resort! This somewhat disturbs me, because she's currently employed as our assistant farm manager.
An Argentine naval colleague shared this morning, a video by David Vaughan Icke that reflects his opinion about this pandemic overreaction — and I'm also starting to question now as well: https://youtu.be/PsRfFiGC-FA
(I also wish to take the his opportunity to profusely apologize for my clearly Americas' superiority over your African and Albion DemonTree's clearly inferior status'. This type of unjust status inequality — breaks the harmonious union which will in result in chaos as I saw occur last night in my privileged hemisphere.)
Fellow America Native Falangist Jack
I think everyone loves New York City and certainly we both adore their renowned steakhouses — that again you knowingly torture me by mentioning. However, the inept socially progressive mayor there is now very unpopular after last night's poorly restrained looting and violence.
Did you see the how our underprivileged Americas natives are actively seeking social justice with progressive economic reparation? Last night in Manhattten, the natives were videoed using a US$350K Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV to ransack high end stores.
Now my 6 year old beat up Japanese discontinued SUV makes me feel really underprivileged... (I didn't even know RR made SUVs!)
That refutes my contention that half of you are bona fide fascists.

Jun 03rd, 2020 - 10:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Thanks for the observation. I'm also alarmed of one allegation that Icke made an antisemitic remark, and has been deplatformed in the UK. Not my cup of tea, but I don't believe unsubstantiated allegations either.
Did he really refer to HRM as a lizard?
Of 17 million here in Chile, we've surpassed 108K cases, with 3K confirm testing positive, but of the 1K total deaths, but so far it's estimated mortality rate has been far below than we were warned about.
Madame tells me that there is even a bar/restaurant in La Parva where all the quicos gather, and other than loosely using a mask (dropped to their neck) are acting like there is no pandemic.
Anyway, rain is wonderful for the plants and even changing the electrical ionization of the air. The only time I dislike the rain is during the late grape season.

No one can take advantage of his own wrong. No one should suffer by the act of another. He who takes the benefit must bear the burden. For every wrong there is a remedy. Between rights otherwise equal, the earliest is preferred. No man is responsible for that which no man can control. The law helps the vigilant, before those who sleep on their rights
