Argentine foreign minister Felipe Solá anticipated that the Falklands/Malvinas Islands will be the priority in relations with the United Kingdom, and to protect the South Atlantic fisheries, fines have to be much harsher since now they are ridiculous low. Read full article

Jun 14th, 2020 - 04:05 pm - Link - Report abuse +2'It is a well-established practice, accepted as law that title over natural resources is to follow that over territory: accordingly, the sovereign subject enjoys the exclusive right to dispose of the natural wealth of the area which it exercises sovereignty.' (UN Stockholm Declaration 1972, Principle 21 & UN Rio Declaration 1992, Principle 2, Declarations on the Human Environment).
Similarly, in the Gulf of Maine case, the ICJ has also stated that, ‘The thrust of this principle is to establish by implication that any delimitation of the continental shelf effected unilaterally by one state regardless of the views of the other state or states concerned is in international law not opposable to those states,’ and ‘No delimitation between states with opposite or adjacent coasts may be effected unilaterally by one of those states.’ And ‘The delimitation of the exclusive economic zone between states with opposite or adjacent coasts shall be affected by agreement on the basis of international law...’ (ICJ Case Concerning Delimitation of Maritime Boundary, Gulf of Maine area, Canada/USA, 12 Oct 1984, P50, para 87 p52, para 95 & p57, para 112(i).)
There they go, off down the yellow brick road, once again.

Jun 15th, 2020 - 04:26 am - Link - Report abuse +1Now you've really hurt my feelings, because all I actually do is to provide employment for my fellow campesinos — that help me provide superfood avocados and delicious grapes for a hungry world.
What have you done for your country or contributed to the world? — Really, what do you do in contributing to society?
Despite some unfortunate actions, General Pinochet saved my country from a similar fate of Venezuela. He also left a legacy of one the most progressive and prosperous, economically stable Democratic countries.
They say a rising tide raises all boats, which was complicated by the enthusiastic immigration policies of our previous 'well-meaning' socialist president — that has flooded my country with a large influx of unskilled workers from Haiti. This has been problematic for average income wages of the lower income classes, but sadly excellent for employers utilizing seasonal laborers.
So what should I do Guillote? Complain?
You seem to continuously whine...

You certainly ain't no good as a tax advisor...
For your kind info..., for an Argie citizen..., gaining (buying) an Uruguayan Fiscal Residence does NOT mean that they automatically lose or can renounce their Argie Fiscal Residence....
Meaning...:
A) If they are very lucky (meaning uninteresting for the Argie AFIP..., they may end paying only Uruguayan taxes ...
B) If they ain't very lucky (meaning interesting for the Argie AFIP..., they will have to continue paying Argie taxes for many..., many years in the future..., a trick we learned from them Swedes ;-)
If they ain't lucky at all (meaning interesting for the Argie AFIP and its Uruguayan equivalent.., they may end paying taxes in both countries ...
Capisce...?

Jun 17th, 2020 - 12:53 am - Link - Report abuse +1It was this useless milico's misfortune to fall into the yoke of an enchantress that hates sailing. Instead of buying a ketch, I foolish plowed my inheritance into the farm.
I agree with your conjecture about the fish getting netted in Uruguay, but you do know the really big fish have set themselves up in serious havens such as the Caymans, Panama, Bahamas, BVI, etc...
That's what I was trying to convey to one of our innocent contributors — when unscrupulous farmers can use creative larceny to move earnings off shore. It's a dangerous game and potentially ruinous but utilized by many of your countrymen.
Fernández has the right to be furious with the preemptive larceny prior to his administration. I suspect many hurt soya growers have indeed creatively transferred their profits abroad into shell companies abroad.
¡Salud!

Jun 17th, 2020 - 06:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Monday we felt confident of the opening. Today — my youngest is dis-employed, the farm is under draconian restrictions, it's snowing in the Andes and our specialty grocer delivered a magnificent full 7 rib rack of Wagyu beef yesterday.
Over 15K people are employed from our Ski industry. Madame mal de mer is depressed that Sunday's celebration is cancelled.
It's snowing in what may be the best snow season since '05...
