That is not an insignificant amount of revenue. That is why an Argentine like yourself is pissed off.

And I don't want to make you feel even worse, but the article says the 17,000 tons is only the beginning.

Tell us more about all you know about the global supply of Loligo.

Bush@ss... the total biomass of loligo in the MAR ARGENTINO is 1.000.000 tons.
And 300.000 tons have been caught this year, you @ss.

Just remember where the line is, then remember to stay your side of it.

pc 2020- Do please tell me which of my bills the UK taxpayer pays for me? Only one I knpw of is defence and all Br subjects have that paid for in all British Territories- ours costs half of one percent of the whole UK defence budget- and that would be spent anyway elsewhere if not here and the force commanders all speak of the excellent training they are able to do when here.
Beyond that you will find that our taxes here pay for everything else- our health-education-roads-etc.

Sorry islander, but british taxpayers are paying a lot for you, not only in defense, air bridge, foreing affairs, governor and advisors wages, most important cost for taxpayers is the conflict itself, without the conflict britain could have a very much lucrative relationship with argentina.

Paying a lot? So, as you appear to know Bully Hayes, exactly how much? I can only assume that you can quote the figures. No?

    Billy Hayes
“lucrative relationship with argentina”, this silly talk!

No real prospect of Argentina ever being “lucrative”, in the foreseeable future.

Nothing much to be gained and certainly nothing to be lost.

The Falklands, apart from their strategic position in the S. Atlantic, are the gateway to the British Antarctic Territories, very important now and in the future.

Also for control over S. Georgia/S. Sandwich Islands. I know Argys like to talk about them as being the same issue as the Falklands, but they’re not, completely separate issues.

Not to mention some of the best training areas available, especially for combined services exercises.

    S. Atlantic/Antarctic is a region for the future and the British as the oldest residents in the region, have powerful strategic, economic as well political reasons for maintaining control of their territories there.

You “new kids on the block” can only watch from afar.

The Antártida, dear @sshole is property of the 4 southermost countries: ARGENTINA, Australia, New Zealand and Chilotelandia. Little britain is located in the NORTHERN hemisphere.

Oh no, we have been there since long before you Thieving Planters from the North ever arrived there.

British S. Atlantic/Antarctic Territories are definitely in the Southern Hemisphere.

You European settlers (lets be polite) in S. America, have no business in the British S. Atlantic/Antarctic Territories.

By any measure, we have far more right to be in the S. Atlantic/Antarctic than you have to be in S. America.

Unlike Atahualpa or the Mapuche, the British have more than just sticks and stones with which to defend their territory from thieving Creole Conquistador Bastards, trying to “implant” themselves in our territory.

    Try conquering Uruguay, much easier.

“South America”, we are talking about the S. Atlantic/Antarctic, where the Spanish never went.

You can keep S. America, we don’t care, but you cannot have any British S. Atlantic/Antarctic Territory,

We have been there since long before you Thieving, Creole Conquistador, Planter Bastards from the North ever arrived in our part of the world, i.e. the S. Atlantic/Antarctic.

So suck it up Pibito, just like they taught you in La Campora.

America was discovered by Spain when you, uneducated pirates, still thought the Earth was flat. When the Virreinato de Nueva España was created, the pirates didnt have the slightest clue about the existence of South America, Estrecho de Magallanes, Islas del Atlántico Sur and Antártida ARGENTINA.
You lot are just a band of squatters, illegal oocupiers. Not even the real british wants you in Little Britain.

There you go again, still talking about America, we are talking here about the S. Atlantic/Antarctic, British Territory since long before your Creole republic ever existed.

Argentina is now inhabited by a band of squatters, illegal occupiers, which would be you!

    Magellan was Portuguese not Spanish:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_Magellan

And the S. Atlantic Islands were “uninhabited”, when the British discovered, claimed and settled them. As was the Antarctic.

    His expedition was... Spanish
All those lands he discovered were integral part of the Virreinato de Nueva España and later the Virreinato del Río de la Plata and now ARGENTINA.

    Magellan was Spanish??? - really
Then how come according to wiki (and others):-

“Magellan was born in the Portuguese town of Sabrosa in or around 1480. His father, Pedro de Magalhães, was a minor member of Portuguese nobility and mayor of the town. His mother was Alda de Mezquita. Magellan's siblings included Diego de Sosa and Isabel Magellan. He was brought up as a page of Queen Eleanor, consort of King John II. In 1495 he entered the service of Manuel I, John's successor.

In March 1505 at the age of 25, Magellan enlisted in the fleet of 22 ships sent to host Francisco de Almeida as the first viceroy of Portuguese India. Although his name does not appear in the chronicles, it is known that he remained there eight years, in Goa, Cochin and Quilon. He participated in several battles, including the battle of Cannanore in 1506, where he was wounded. In 1509 he fought in the battle of Diu” etc etc

Doesn't sound very Spanish to me

Diarreagh: Are you always so phucking ignorant?
You cant even understand what you read, eh?
READ AND LEARN, you epitome of ignorance:

Fernando de Magallanes, también conocido como Hernando de Magallanes (en portugués, Fernão de Magalhães; Ponte da Barca u Oporto2primavera de 1480—Mactán, Filipinas; 27 de abril de 1521), fue un militar, explorador, marino y navegante portugués de linaje noble. Fue nombrado adelantado y naturalizado español por la Corona Española y capitán general de la «Armada para el descubrimiento de la especería» y comendador de la Orden de Santiago.

My, my, you really are getting upset aren't you (mind you 'think' you play this silly game on a regular basis)

Personally I've no idea what books are available in Port Stanley nor am I bothered.

It is obvious that Magellan was Portuguese. Even your own quote (see above) states that he was a Portuguese soldier and explorer.

Enough of this tarradiddle 'think' time for you to take your medication.

    pc2020,

Actually there is a very good library in Stanley (not sure what the relevance of “pork” was in your comment). Also worth remembering that prior to Spain “discovering” what we term South America, there was already an indigenous population on the mainland, albeit one soon to be decimated by violence and imported disease.

“You should thank the impoverished british taxpayer who pays your bills.”
It costs Argentina more than the UK in their conflict according to Carlos Escudé. He warned: “If Argentina had power, I would not be doing these proposals,” but reasoned that “pursue policies of power without power is counterproductive” because “leads to losing more than you earn systematically”

    Falklands War Cost-Benefit Analysis
    The price of War
”Although the Falklands War had a very noticeable short-term impact on defence expenditure, the impact was not long-lasting. Notwithstanding the first few years after the conflict, when South Atlantic expenditure was greatly consumed by the construction of RAF Mount Pleasant (operational from 1986), the amount spent wasn't overly significant. In 1986-7, it was only 2.23% of total defence expenditure, and by 1989-90, a mere 0.33%. At their height (1982-3), the war's effects represented only 6.76% of total defence expenditure.
