A collection of “iconic” Falklands War medals has been sold at auction for £130,000. Capt Pettinger served as Patrol Commander of D (Patrol) Company during 11 days of operations in and around the Mount Longdon area on East Falkland. Read full article

    There's something sordid and not quite right about selling war medals - especially during one's own lifetime. Surely the man has an Army pension as well as other pensions to fall back on?
    I'm sure Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth will not be amused (and neither will the families of the dead and wounded comrades) when she hears that a soldier flogs the gongs that were awarded by her or in her name for cash.
