The Oxford vaccine gives 90% + immunity and where it didn’t, nobody got the serious form and required hospitalisation.
It’s somewhat cheaper than the others and does not require special refrigeration, better for the developing world.
It may be coming to an end, at last some better news.

The landscape reminded me of the drive between Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon...endless dry hills, and hot as hell....until sundown.
I'm sure you all had a great time, and you did not permit any ugly scenes going on in a Canadian basement, to cross your mind.

Yes, the effective multiple vaccines now available — will end this unfortunate pandemic. Even the Russian Sputnik vaccine has been proven. We expect at least three vaccines will be available in Chile sometime in December. (Priority for the aged.)
Obviously I think it also important to receive the latest flu and pneumonia shots which many people have ignored. All our family members have taken annual physicals — most importantly the women.

The name of our sector is Piedra Roja in Chicureo and shows the community laguna where we took our grandchildren for a hike yesterday. Also the stables shown are a part of the Club where Madam and our family women are avid equestrians.
You may note that almost all neighborhoods here are gate controlled and the community has a high level of security which is unfortunately necessary in Chile.
This afternoon's return from the farm today took me one hour and twenty minutes. The sun still has not set yet and Madame has announced our evening fare is gambas al ajillo (Catalan style) which she she prepares with prawns cooked in clay bowls filled with hot olive oil, roasted garlic, and a small pinch of Merkin which gives it a little kick.
This of course with her sourdough crusty bread — which is perfect for mopping up all the delicious garlic sauce! Ma mariée insists we pair this with her favorite Valdivieso champenoise. (She's in a delightful mood as I'm close to finishing her barn workshop.)
Life is great in Chile — it's never too hot nor fortunately rarely very cold — but summertime is brown and dry.

We both have previously traveled abroad a lot due to my naval service, work (including irrigation consultanting in Petrolina), our love to explore Europe and North America — but as this pandemic is now nearly resolved we've decided to stay near our expanding family.
We've now improved all our gypsy encampments and at a moment's notice — easily travel from Chicureo to Viña to the farmhouse and now to Valle Nevado.

EVERYTHING has now been completely installed (including the new two WCs* and a large ceramic kiln) — every electrical installation has been double inspected by our Venezulean electrician and I'm still only waiting for the power company to give a certificate.
Madame and the women of our clan just need to apply some hand painted colonial designs on the wall (which were stolen from the Viña von Siebenthal with the Swiss owner's permission) and the tool and motorcycle storage room is great looking!
With the exception of the natural wood color varnish and the terra cotta red tiles — everything is painted three slight variations of white. The effect is stunning and I asked my safety compliance employee to buy the largest red ribbon to drape the entry for ma mariée enchantresse and will inaugurate this weekend with our extended family.
Lunch was again was one of the dear old lady's beef empanadas with a pair of ice cold bottles of Kunstmann beer from Valdivia. The weather here is fabulous (27°c/80°f) and I now can go back to preparing for the coming next year!
Tomorrow I have a meeting to attend at the fabled Club de la Unión in downtown Santiago — to surrender two of my final wagered bottles to gentlemen I greatly admire.
I have no idea what plans are before me this evening — but my Christmas present is a very small wood model box representation of the barn with a red roof and white painted sides. (Inside will be the keys to the workshop.)
My children (son-in-law and daughter-in-law included) all — will receive gifts containing electronic RFID pass fobs to the farmhouse, the Valle Nevado escape and the Viña apartment below ours — which we acquired/stole during this pandemic.

In the video of Santiago etc in winter, at 35 to 40 seconds, I recognized the wide, shallow canal that accompanies the avenue......and the tall, square, mirrored building that tapers off as you reach the top. If I remember correctly we had a good view of it all from the terrace at the top of the 'funicular', from where you can see the Estadio Nacional as well.....
Good memories of a great 10 days spent there in March 2013.
Mentioning your two new WCs to the F*ckwitt is a waste of time......a bucket without holes in the bottom would be an upgrade for him....if he ever walked into a decent bathroom, he probably wouldn't know what to do....a toilet that works with a flush ?....and NO bin ?...that would bamboozle him, and wouldn't be surprised if the took a dump in the wash basin.....and then steal the bog roll. The city has rapidly grown around that area — and the canal you mention is actually our Mapocho river which goes from a mild stream into a raging bitch of destructive fury — and yet the first Spanish engineers actually moved the river bed to where it flows today. A large length of the river has a freeway under a long swath of the riverbed (lengthways) which was constructed almost two decades ago!

The late sunset was beautiful and Madame was in a delightful mood.

(This Catalan dish is served chilled and drizzled with pomegranate syrup at serving.)
Although this special recipe goes well with white wine — we'll probably accompany with chilled seltzer water and lemon juice as a refreshing beverage that accompanies perfectly on a warm day like tomorrow is forecasted.

The morning breakfast was simply avocado (with a touch of seasoned salt) on toasted sourdough with superb Colombian coffee.
Today is devoted in part to our vegetable garden here in Chicureo. We've planted a great deal of new varieties of vegetables that require attention and it's remarkable that in November we have a lot that's ready for harvest. (We are fortunate to have gardeners assisting us here and at the farm — but we enjoy this one of life's great pleasures.)
It also has been a part of our romance since we first started dating, I mentioned my family had a vegetable garden at the farm and she begged me to see it the following weekend. (We've been gardening together ever since.)

Although I've enjoyed the Catalan cold dish of asparagus with excellent quality ham and marvelous honey roasted pistachios on a few other occasions — it always surprises me just how delicious it is — and so beautiful on a plate.
The asparagus spears are encased in a spread of chopped pistachios moistened in almond oil encased in ham. The purple threads of pomegranate syrup contrasts beautifully and all the flavors highly compliment each other.
Perfect meal for a warm day (27°c-80°f)
After finishing our fun gardening and showered — ma mariée changed into a new short Summer floral pattern dress that makes her absolutely gorgeous.
This evening's meal still not has been decided which I suspect will result us enjoying the sunset — but typically it means we'll probably dine at our favorite lakeside restaurant on ceviche and chilled champenoise.
In any outcome, I will toast the Devil himself that the asshole continues to slowly burn in eternal Hell.

(This is a breed that originates in Chile and does not have prominent tail feathers nor much of a head comb.)
They sold their rooster (because of noise) and a very clever Tiuque (Chilean hawk) has killed three of their other hens, but the family plans to replace them. The chicken coop is a work of art — copied we're told from a magazine.
My neighbor has the Michelin tire representation for Chile and tells me that business is booming — but he's very concerned about fake Michelin tires made in China being illegally imported. (They're dangerous a high speeds.)
This evening's fare is as predicted will be our favorite lakeside restaurant where they offer a superb Peruvian style ceviche which will pair ideally with our favorite Valdivieso champenoise. (We adore not only the lakeside view, but also the cooling effect of the lake.)
Our youngest daughter is returning tomorrow from the southern Lake District with her love interest. There is chartered helicopter service based in Chicureo that is scheduled to bring them here and we'll all drive to the farm — which is about a 90 minutes.
This weekend we have the entire extended family gathered that not only includes the new boyfriend — but also my son's in-laws. We are having an inauguration of the barn transformation as well as the farmhouse.
We're very excited and we have special activities planned with most of the guests spending the night — as we have all the farmhouse bedrooms are now fully furnished. The asado will not be that extravagant — but it will be a nightmare for vegans.
I imagine some individual in a freezing cold northern hemisphere climate where they would be disturbed about me boasting of our wonderful warm climate here — so I will leave the lengthy description until a further post.

Starting tomorrow we begin where my entire family will be celebrating the farmhouse and barn remodeling-transformation into our own private family resort. (We have now four fully maintained motorcycles for enjoying and the new pottery workshop will be of great entertainment for everyone.)

In this semi-lockdown I confess I really miss eating my bifes de chorizo....and the 'pillow' papa-fritas.......there's a place some 20 minutes from us, and the owner - and one of the two cooks - is a 'gaucho'. The beef he buys comes from a small farm in Argentina, and it's the best....and he knows how to prepare it... medium rare. In its category, it compares with the good NYC steakhouses.
We've been to Sam's Club twice this last week, have bought tons of delicious stuff....since we can't go out, might as well have a feast here at home.

We have an excellent butcher in San Felipe with a specific order — that I've been informed has arrived to the farmhouse and will be grilled tomorrow over grape-wood charcoal (we have years and years of cut grape-wood stacked against the tractor shed)
We're expecting to feed Saturday at least 16 hungry adults various cuts of beef and pork sausage. (The old lady nearby has a special order for her special chicken empanadas and her maraquetta bread.)
Tomorrow night we'll have 12 adults and 4 grandchildren sleeping comfortably at the farmhouse and it should be great fun.
My son is excited to show our consuegros the farm wine cellar — which has been now organized and the reason why we need to stop buying anymore red wine. (He'll continue buying Caballo Loco which we will be extensively sampling over the weekend.)
I'm currently patiently waiting for the arrival of our youngest child and her love interest here at our local airfield. (You may find it interesting that it is the very exact landing field that was used by the famed aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.)
There's currently not a cloud in the sky and Madame has called me three times while waiting at the field.

The weather has been dry with a low 26% humidity, daytime highs of 28°c-80°f with cool nights of 12°c-54°f. (and unlike most areas — we have very few bothersome insects.)
The inauguration of the old adobe barn renovation was an excellent opportunity for celebrating and having fun together.
Our extended family gathering went exceedingly well — and shockingly civil and pleasant — despite having five adult women together at our farmhouse sleep-over Saturday night together with no serious cat-fights — as fortunately the only teetotalers were our four grandchildren.
I personally attribute this unusual phenomena due to wine — which had a calming affect upon the women.
The red wine we sampled was nearly all from my son's complete extensive storage of Caballo Loco releases residing in the farmhouse cellar. We also sampled champenoise — but as you know, the pairing of red wine with beef is a nonpareil pleasure.
I had the rare privilege of being once invited to a large luncheon here in the valley with the late great Robert Mondavi — who wrote: “Wine has been a part of civilized life for some seven thousand years. It is the only beverage that feeds the body, soul and spirit of man and at the same time stimulates the mind.”
The love interest of my youngest has charmed everyone and passed la Inquisición DeFarge — with flying colors. (No easy feat!)
I'm currently the only remaining participant at the farmhouse and will soon lunch on cold sirloin steak sandwich with fresh maraquetta bread and a ice cold Cusqueña beer.
You may note the lovely Easter eggs I left for our dirty-toliet-paper pervert that I left deposited yesterday on other threads — but I was too busy to see the results until today. TOO MUCH FUN!

Our farm garden has lots of ripe-sweet cherry tomatoes which I've been eating as a snack. (We've again been guilty of over-planting several different tomato varieties here and at Chicureo.)

A great couple of asados and fine dining with superb entertainment!
We have ABSOLUTELY no other building projects contemplated and are fully ready for the next year's intense work schedule for the harvests.
Frankly I was expecting sparks between Madame and our consuegros — but they were instead charmed with hospitality. (They are 3rd and 2nd generation of Chile's large German diaspora.)
You perhaps have witnessed how your German community bands together as it does here in Chile. (They have an excellent country club in Santiago and several excellent German language schools — and one of the finest medical clinics on our continent.)
Our consuegro is in building apartment buildings — of which one of their apartments in Vitacura — was given to their daughter as a wedding gift. My son is working as an associate attorney to a major law firm that's literally a walking commute to home. (By the way, our yerno — married to our daughter is a partner in a major law firm.)
Our youngest daughter's love interest got along well with all of us — charming and an excellent guest. His family is well situated in several businesses and he's currently working as the manager of their commercial real estate leasing.
As for myself — I'm spending the night at the farm because we're in the process of three critical irrigation pump installations — which is insane for this time of year — but their delivery and installation was complicated due to the pandemic.
The farmhouse refrigerator is packed with some wonderful leftover dishes — but I'm strongly considering another tender sirloin steak sandwich for this evening.
If the installation goes well — I plan to open a '97 Viña Carmen Carménère that we came across this weekend, but we were focused on my son's exquisite Caballo Loco collection.
(BTW the last sentence of your last past post says best of what I concur as well.)

You're right, the German community does make a point of maintaining their identity, but that does not mean they isolate themselves .....we have a lot of large German companies here in SP, not to mention large communities of Germans in the southern states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Have been to the local German club here, on occasions, to participate in their Oktober Fest......good fun. Lots of blonde, blue-eyed ladies...
The hospital I use when I need minor routine procedures is the german hospital...one of the best, with renowned doctors.
My family has (had) mainly engineers, economists, a few doctors, and only one lawyer....it's always good to have lawyers in the family, they know the ins and outs of legal matters and can give sound advice when surprises pop up.
Talking of popping up, can just imagine the F*ckwitt, red in the face, blowing hard and frantically, to inflate Long Dong, in order to see his favorite thing pop up. Oh well, not everyone can lead a happy life....just the way the cookie crumbles.

In the south of Chile and Argentina Patagonia — there are villages reminiscent of Bavaria. Our daughter-in-law wishes to send our grandchildren to the Deutsche Schule — where her family have attended for three generations.
I also agree with having two lawyers in the family is helpful. Our son-in-law is a partner and is well situated financially — but our son is an associate of a prestigious firm working over 60 hours a week. (He'll have do do grunt work for the next few years before attaining success — which most of us experienced when we were young.)
The complex irrigation pumps changeover scenario was accomplished with no complications as we were blessed with two engineers that specialize in this type of work. We are expecting higher efficiency with lower energy requirements. (A very necessary and painfully expensive operation.)
I will be exceptionally busy from the second week of January to the end of April. The remainder of the year live far more relaxed. Our family has always had wine whether we work hard or play — but we drink an amazing amount of fresh lemonade.
This month is our entertainment season — with our logistical plans and food purchases all carefully planned. Beef and pork for the farm Christmas party — specially ordered lamb and pheasant for Christmas in Chicureo and a wide range of seafood for the Viña New Years party. (The pheasant is a new change from our traditional honey baked ham, but Madame has a friend that's involved in cheese production that is raising gourmet game birds.)
Today's lunch was the final remaining cold sirloin steak — sliced thin with honey mustard dressing on fresh maraquetta bread.
Our perverted dirty-toilet-paper deviant has had his complete nervous breakdown!

Regarding WORK — since leaving the naval reserves — I consider my passion for farming as an enjoyable avocation — with only occasional periods of frustration. What I do regarding grape and avocado production is recreation most of the time — and I really enjoy my life. (Even when I consulted on irrigation in Brazil with difficult challenges — it was a vacation for me.)
Regarding military dictatorships, I'm reminded what the American's love to quote from Thomas Jefferson who supposedly once said that “the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots.” Thanks to the actions of September 11, 1973 Chile today is a free and thriving democracy after living under the Marxist nightmare of Allende.
Our entertainment plans for the season have slightly changed as the Chicureo Christmas party has doubled in size and we're including a special milk-fed veal addition to the main fare — as well as numerous traditional German delights as our consuegros have joined their entire family with ours for the Christmas feast.
The wide range of seafood for the Viña New Years party will have Paella de Marisco as the main course — that we've now hired a chef to prepare and serve. We will use as decoration — five boxes of export quality table grapes from Copiapo.
Lunch was as well as tonight's dinner is sautéd asparagus and slow roasted garlic lemon chicken — which accompanied with a chilled Viña Casablanca Vognier that is stunningly delicious.
