Argentina clutching at another straw. How desperate they are to try and make it look like the rest of the world all supports them.
The flight plan for this trip was requested and approved through the Falkland Island Government Aviation Dept and Argentina went ballistic that a country dare fly direct to the islands which they claim without their approval.
What they fail to tell the world is that Britain had established a settlement on the Islands in 1765 a whole 68 years before Argentina tried to illegally set up in Port Louis.
They are desperate for another cash flow and want ours and we see that in their efforts to distort the truth.
Any country who supports the Argentine claim are themselves in denial.
They have been shouting the odds and pressuring other countries to support them, yet behind the scenes most do not.
One day the rest of the world will wake up to this scam Argentina has created.

    KelperAbout, how right you are.

But what the article fails to mention is that the Globe's airspace is divided in seamless zones called Flight Information Region, FIR. This just to make sure who's going to have a look in case something goes wrong. It has nothing to do with sovereignty. Chile has to receive the same acknowledgement if it wants to fly between Punta & MPA. Or if you want to fly to Canary Islands, you have to inform Morocco. So, once again Mr. Filmus and his mates managed to twist the truth for their 'benefit'.

What a dumbarsed lot the Arg Govt and Filimus and team are! FI could not care less where the diversion airport is- so long as there is one- that is airline Captain,s choice!

BUT Arg has a ban on any non humanitarian flight using Arg airspace to fly to and from the Falklands - so IF bad weather prevents landing at MPA- and aircraft flys onto and lands I Ushuaia - How do they then give it permission to fly to Falklands the next day as it business- not humanitarian!!

Pathetic and Immature Children- but then that sums up Argentine Politicians- always has done over the Falklands issue.

Couple of problems with this story. I am told that the flight was being planned in November and that Lufthansa already had British permission for a landing at MPA. Considering Germany's ties with Argentina, it is, if anything, surprising that they took until the 21st January to submit a request to Buenos Aires. They were always going to need a second option if the rotor winds over MPA prevent a landing there.

I'll sincerely try to be inclusively open to all and try not to offend any sensitive proclivities that might offend some of the sensitive issues regarding our country mud-brick home lifestyle here in Panquehue.

The climate changes all the time. We here have experienced occasional brutal bone dry droughts and in other years raging floods actually washing away buildings and bridges along in the path of a raging Aconcagua river.

Mother Pachamama just recently reminded us here that she's always restless and ready to destroy or crops and even far worse — because she's a vicious bitch when it suits her mood. Fortunately, she's currently in a gentle benevolent period blessing us with record harvests and really beautiful weather.

As I've mentioned in another comment thread — we are in the lengthy bureaucratic dance with Rabobank to qualify for EU subsidized solar energy investment that along with the tax benefits — makes it ridiculous to throw away the opportunity.

As far as raging hormones and youth — as parents we already have set the wrong example long ago. The jeune fille from the Lycée Français lied about her age and it was a scandal when we were married. Although we've constantly bickered and fought — with occasions contemplating legal separation — we've stayed together and are blessed with grandchildren.

That's why Madame really is charmed with the current suitor as he has the maturity and a decade in age difference seems to fit in her long category of requirements.

(Personally I'm just happy she dumped her former boyfriend — and recognize I have little to say on who or when to determine what our children decide.)

As far as Greta: The greatest carbon emitter on the planet is the ocean. It's also the largest producer of oxygen. We should do something about the poisoning of our planet — with Asia being the primary pollution criminal.

Perhaps our avocado orchards might receive tax credits for carbon absorption and oxygen emissions...

Sincere thanks for your suggestion! I first saw the technology being used by Norwegian fish farms.

The floating panels are more expensive but require no support frames.

The additional beneficial attribute is it substantially reduces pond evaporation.

Pumps require heavy pulls of energy — but all the other needs can easily be supported by solar.

The only problem — is cost per kilowatt.

Eventual bifacial PV panels would profit from water light reflection(+8-12%)...

IMHO..., cost per kilowatt..., in your specific case..., seems to depend more of financing conditions & subsidies than technique...

I'm all for using the reservoir tanks for utilizing. The fact the panels require no support and the reduced trans-evaporation benefits are all proven positive.

Also, auxiliary power needs are easily converted to a solar grid.

The pumping matrix is complex and is my most demanding energy requirement that we maintain two auxiliary diesel units to backup the normal electrical power.

(I can screw around my electricity sources, but the irrigation needs of the farm cannot afford even a 12 hour break during high trans-evaporation periods.)

We will never run our whole operation only with solar, but it makes perfect sense to include the source into our normal needs.

    Small steps...

We have been in discussion with LORENTZ based in Germany and China as well as our friends in Israel.

Despite the outrageous high cost — using electricity from our national utility is cheaper than “free” solar power without tax and financial subsidies. (As those advantages become available — we’ll make a more complete transition.)

My father and uncle truly dared conventional thought when they planted on the hillsides — but they were desperate.

Right now I’m riding a debt service seasonal capital monster that won’t turn positive until August/September.

I'm already depressed that nobody on the political Right has a chance. Despite her flat nose, Carolina is the only moderate Leftist that is palatable.

What we fear is the Left rising which seems our ominous future.

I note now the latest international catch phrase has gone from NEW RESET to BUILD BACK BETTER. Of course, the catch word continues to be INEQUALITY.

In my last conversation — my friend in San Juan mentioned that if it were not for his sheltering money abroad — he'd have no comfortable future. He’s living well, but he’s worried about Argentina’s inflation.

All I can do is to prepare for the next financial crisis by staying cash net positive after my net sales are returned.

Being an exporter is like running a Ponzi scheme... ...you always have to invest new fresh capital or the debt load will destroy eventually anyone. (And yes, I know capital in Chile is cheap right now.)

Personally I worry that cheap capital will result in a collapse of our worldwide financial system. Although I do believe hard assets will continue to appreciate for those who can hold on to them. (Farmland is better than gold right now.)

Meanwhile, the Chilean lower middle class continues to get deeper in consumer credit debt.

Tonight I'm again dining alone as my youngest has begged a couple of extra days away from the farm and my evening's menu is a pork sandwich with the remainder of yesterday's Carménère.

I sincerely hope she's not a vegan as I personally think it harms the health of our youth. (An occasional bit of animal protein is good for developing bodies.)

But we do strongly recommend embracing a healthy plant based diet and that’s why we’re busy providing healthy and nutritious fruit — from carbon absorbing and oxygen emitting avocado forests providing gainful employment to those less privileged.

If the EU and Rabobank are cooperative — we’ll be further reducing our carbon footprint — perhaps even negative status. (Let alone our forest contributions.)

Speaking of which, the Hass avocado markets are currently outstanding:

The greatest gift I can look leave for my grandchildren is an excellent education and a sense of self reliance — as we’ve provided for our three children. (As you know — the school you attend is helpful as well as how you conduct yourself in our limited culture.)

By the way, this evening's pork was the leftover lechón from Sunday’s family lunch and was absolutely delicious as was/is the day old Carménère. (My mother would have approved — 'waste not, want not'.)
